RUSH: I guess, folks, we just can’t call ’em Muslims anymore because you can’t say anything about Muslims. I mean if Juan Williams gets canned from NPR for being truthfully honest, open about — well, we’re going to have to start calling ’em Middle Eastern liberals. Yeah, a friend of mine sent me that suggestion. No longer call ’em Muslim. The Middle Eastern liberals today stoned a woman in Iran. The Middle Eastern liberals today plotted a plan to blow up buildings in Karachi.

Let me remind you of something that our president, Imam Obama, said once. ‘The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street she doesn’t know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred into her, our experiences, that don’t go away, sometimes come out in the wrong way and that’s just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it.’ So it was okay for Obama to say she was a typical white person, his grandmother, ’cause she gets afraid of black guys on the street. It’s okay for Obama to say that ’cause he wasn’t saying it on NPR. Well, he probably said it on NPR but he was not employed by NPR. Here’s what Juan said, by the way. This is Monday night on Ted Baxter’s show.

WILLIAMS: Political correctness can lead to some kind of paralyses where you don’t address reality. I’m not a bigot. You know the books I have written about the civil rights movement in this country, but when I get on a plane, I gotta tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think they’re identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried, I get nervous. Now, I remember also that when the Times Square bomber was in court, I think this was just last week, he said the war with Muslims, America’s war with Muslims, is just beginning, the first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts.

RUSH: Okay, so Juan Williams is now history the day after George Soros announces the funding of 100 journalist jobs at NPR, and people are wondering if these things are not related. Now, NPR almost has no black editorial personnel. They got one program for blacks hosted by Michel Martin, but nobody hears it ’cause it runs from two to three in the afternoon, the same time this program’s on. The other 23 hours a day are dedicated to white content for white people. It is what it is. You look at the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. You know, our old buddies, Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting have done a study on PBS, and they found out that the vast majority of guests on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer are white and not Hispanic. That doesn’t bother ’em so much. What bothers ’em is the majority of the guests are Republicans. (laughing) And they get nervous. NPR viewers get nervous when they see Republicans on NPR or public television. So Juan Williams, a black voice on National Public Radio (interruption) was, sorry, right, was, past tense, silenced for explaining how he feels when he sees Muslims who are acting as Muslims first on airplanes, while on Fox. NPR says that violated its standards. Whose standards? Are they now George Soros’ standards?

You know, George Soros just admitted to giving a million dollars to Media Matters, and NPR just accepted a million dollars from Soros’ Open Society Institute, and the purpose of this grant is to hire new enterprise reporters. What is an enterprise reporter as opposed to a reporter? I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what an enterprise reporter is as opposed to a reporter. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I wonder if I offered a million dollars for NPR to hire some other reporter, say, supplied by people that work at the Heritage Foundation or here at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies. I wonder if NPR’s standards would allow them to accept my million bucks to hire reporters. I mean you think Soros doesn’t have a hand in who NPR is hiring? Could it well be that Soros had a hand here. I mean it’s awfully coincidental. Soros gives them a million bucks to hire reporters and the next day Juan Williams is gone for something he said on Fox.

Look, everybody knows that Juan Williams is a liberal. He’s a nice guy liberal. I mean Juan Williams is the kind of guy who will admit that when somebody says something like global warming is a hoax, he’ll admit it’s the first time he’s ever heard that and that it interests him. He’s at least open to it. To go on Baxter’s show here and talk about being afraid, this is gutsy because political correctness is ruling the day. Facebook has just said no longer will they allow criticism of gays on Facebook, and now this from NPR. Juan Williams is a known quantity and now he’s essentially been Clarence Thomased, in a sense, for voicing an opinion that is contrary to the doctrine. It will be interesting to see if the Reverend Jackson and Reverend Sharpton will let this go by in silence. What do you think, Snerdley? You think they let it go? I don’t care. I don’t care if Jackson’s busy, doesn’t matter. A black guy at NPR just got canned for something he said on Fox. Didn’t Jesse Jackson once say that he gets scared walking down the street when he sees a black guy approaching him? Jesse Jackson did say that once. And Obama has said his grandmother’s a typical white woman in the sense that she gets scared walking down the street when she sees a black guy.

So you can’t be critical of Muslims anymore. So this is a great idea from a friend of mine: ‘They’re no longer Muslims. They are now Middle Eastern liberals.’ Don’t you just love this diversity and tolerance? All this stuff on the left, all the openness, all the diversity, all the tolerance. Here is the quote from the Reverend Jackson. It is a meeting of Operation PUSH, November of 1993. ‘There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery and then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.’ Well, he didn’t say it on Fox. He said it in an Operation PUSH meeting. On Fox he said he wanted to cut Obama’s jewels. He wanted to open Obama’s package and drain the contents, that’s what he wanted to do. He said that on Fox. (laughing) We laugh. But imagine poor Juan, his head’s gotta be spinning here.

He’s brought on Fox to talk about this kind of thing happening to other people. He’s asked for his opinion on this happening to other people. This kind of thing is not supposed to happen to Juan Williams. And what’s fascinating is you look around the right-wing media circles and you’ll find all kinds of love and support for Juan Williams today because everybody likes the guy. He’s a liberal and he’s wrong, but he’s a nice guy. He’s not one of these flame throwing, in-your-face, doesn’t lie about people, doesn’t make things up about them, he’s not into character assassination or any of that. He’s not a shock jock.

I would like for you to think about something. I want you to step back and look at the big picture for a moment. Look at what was in the news just a few weeks ago, and look at what is in the news now with less than two weeks before the elections. Have you noticed how the media has steered clear of any mention of Arizona or immigration or the gun battles across the US border? We haven’t had any news about the Ground Zero mosque. We haven’t had any Middle Eastern liberal terrorism stories, even though there have been numerous threats made by Middle Eastern liberals, and there are several trials of Middle Eastern liberals underway. But this isn’t being reported. The media are playing down the very disturbing developments in the war in Afghanistan. In fact, there’s actually some movement in the positive in the surge in Afghanistan taking place, and there is a scant mention of it in the media. There is hardly any news about the riots in Europe, particularly in France, over something as innocuous as raising the retirement age from 60 to 62. We’re not to be reminded about any of these stories with real implications for us and our lives.

Instead, the Drive-Bys are doing everything they can to focus on crazy conservative candidates, Rand Paul and his religion, Christine O’Donnell and her witchcraft and her not knowing the First Amendment, supposedly. All of these nutcase conservatives of the Tea Party, the unsophisticated, don’t-know-what-they’re-doing Tea Party people. That has become the focus of the media, and they know if they bring up any real-world subjects, things that people are most concerned about, it’s only gonna hurt their masters, the Democrats in the polls. I mean even the unemployment news, if they wanted to they could try to spin this as good, but it’s so obviously not good, even though there’s a minimal uptick, they’re not even harping on that because they know that anybody focusing real attention on the employment stories going to have to focus on how rotten it is and how much it has not improved.

Now, look back four years. Look at what we did to ourselves in the House of Representatives just four years ago. We made Nancy Pelosi the speaker. We put John Dingell in charge of the Energy and Commerce Committee. We put Barney Frank in charge of financial services and we put Henry ‘Nostrilitis’ Waxman in charge of the House reform committee. We put John Conyers at the head of the House Judiciary Committee. There’s a lot we have to undo, but the people who will be going into these positions, whoever they are, cannot be any — oh, yeah, Charlie Rangel over as Ways and Means. Just four years ago. Look at the utter destruction that has taken place in four years, and then if you look at the 20 months or so of the Obama regime, add to it what the Democrats in Congress have done, look at how little time it has taken, and what’s in the news today? None of that. None of the destruction of the country. None of the genuine policy reasons why this country is spinning down the drain. Instead, you’re getting stories on wacko conservative candidates. Are they sophisticated enough? Do they actually know what they’re doing? The Sharron Angles, the Christine O’Donnells, so forth and so on. So there you have it.

We gotta take a brief time-out here, an EIB obscene profit time-out. Your phone calls are coming up in the program as well today.

Google is in the news. All of these taxes they are avoiding paying by doing business overseas. Google is paying taxes to the US Treasury at an effective rate of 2.4%. The US government is not collecting $60 billion in taxes from Google due to loopholes that are in the law. Google is simply taking advantage of doing business overseas, as is Apple. Here you have these two giant leaders in the high-tech business, and they are run by doctrinaire liberals.

RUSH: Isn’t it interesting that the dastardly and devilish Fox News can employ Juan Williams, who also worked at NPR, but NPR will can Juan Williams for something he said on Fox? And have you noticed? Who is it that’s coming to Juan Williams’ defense? Is it the American left? Is it the civil rights coalitions of America, the feminazis? The global warmists? Any of the leftist coalition? No. Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center is sending letters to the appropriate congressional committees asking for investigations and hearings because NPR is publicly funded. They’re taking money now from George Soros; the day after doing that they can Juan Williams for a noncontroversial statement. And the Media Research Center — the dreaded, despised, and hated Brent Bozell’s bunch — is calling for congressional investigations in order to defend Juan Williams.

Again: Who the Fox News Channel has absolutely no problem hiring and putting on their air while NPR won’t have anything to do with Juan Williams (increasingly, it appears, because of who’s paying their freight). From the Los Angeles Times today, here’s a statistical finding that may confirm what many of us had been thinking in recent years without really realizing it. ‘A majority of Americans who are globally famous for candidly saying what they think now say they believe that their country has become too politically correct.’ A majority of the Americans. (whispering) You gotta sort of whisper this. You can’t say this too loud. ‘Psst? Uh, a majority Americans see too much political correctness. Even more say it is a problem.’ How can this be? If a majority of Americans sees too much political correctness, how come political correctness is undefeated?

I mean, in the big scheme of things, political correctness is undefeated. On Facebook, you can’t be critical of gays now. Juan Williams can’t say the equivalent of what Obama can say about his white grandmother on Fox. Political correctness? No question it’s a problem. You know what PC is? We are governed by a ruling minority of elites. Political correctness is nothing more than a tool of cowards. Political correctness is nothing more than censorship sponsored by the left. If they don’t want to hear it, if they’re offended by it, if they don’t want to talk about it, you can’t say it — and if you do say it, you’re going to pay stiff consequences. According to this poll, a Rasmussen poll, a minority of Americans are undefeated when it comes to political correctness — and you know it’s true. Look how many people are afraid to say anything in public. It’s like the old Soviet Union. People are only honest with each other in their bathrooms in their homes. They’re afraid of who might say what. Look what’s happening to the NFL, for crying out loud! The chickification, political correctness is destroying the National Football League.

RUSH: Now, the art and privilege of being allowed to redefine the language is one of the most treasured tools of the liar and the tyrant. The art and privilege of being allowed to redefine the language. We are in the midst of this and have been for quite a while. Now, the Juan Williams firing proves many things. One thing is proves is this: You can still be a bigot if you are black, if you are liberal-black. As long as you don’t openly consort with liberals you can say whatever you want but if you are a liberal black who consorts with conservatives on their dreaded network, you will ultimately pay the price. Just being seen around conservatives, being treated well by conservatives (and reacting in kind, treating conservative kindly) is such a crime to the left, it trumps skin color and political allegiance, because to the left, the biggest enemy in the world is conservatism.

It’s their number-one enemy. You consort with them on their network, and you have them as your friends and then they come out and defend you? That proves that your dismissal from NPR was justified. Thank goodness McCarthyism is dead. (pause) I’m being facetious. Of course it’s not. Now, I thought I (and I did, I checked it here during the break) that we have been advised by Big Sis, Janet Napolitano, the Director of Homeland Security, and they’ve got it right here on a website: It’s www.security.state.ny.us/preparedness/index.html. We are to be ‘aware of our surroundings.’ This is something our government is advising us, ordinary Americans, how we can protect ourselves.

Four steps. One: ‘Develop a family emergency plan.’ Number two: ‘Stock up on emergency supplies,’ and of course we know what that is. Canned goods, beans and stuff; hopefully fat-free refried beans with no sugar added, but stock up on it. Three: ‘Be aware of your surroundings,’ and, four: ‘Get involved.’ Well, Juan Williams was aware of his surroundings and he got involved and now he got fired. And now Juan Williams will really need a family emergency plan and to stock up on supplies, because half of his income or a portion of it is now gone. He lost his job for being aware of his surroundings! It’s been pounded into our heads, ‘Be aware! Be aware! Be aware! Be aware!’ They meant to say ‘beware,’ I guess, instead of ‘be aware.’ Beware of getting involved, beware of being honest, beware of the left.

RUSH: Kim in Jacksonville, Florida. You’re first. It’s great to have you on the EIB Network.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I love you. Okay, look, I’m really mad. Um, that’s why I had to specify that I love you first. I can’t believe that you’re defending Juan Williams, first of all. He is a total progressive, and now he is being forced to suffer the consequences of his progressive agenda. It’s the agenda that he has been pushing since… I can remember being five years old and watching this guy on TV. I mean this guy has been around for years, pushing and pushing and pushing these agendas, and now he’s suffering the consequences for it. And — and — and another thing. Let’s not forget that that suit he wears? That suit is funded by the taxpayers. You and I paid for that suit, Rush! He gets to go on TV every night and Fox News gives him an audience to sit there and spout his hatred and his disgust with the American people. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard him call members of the Tea Party ‘terrorists,’ ‘tea baggers.’ Did he get fired for that? No. U nh-uh. But, you know, we ‘tea baggers’ and we ‘terrorists’ are the ones that fund his salary. But NPR didn’t stand up about that. PBS didn’t stand up about that. But he says something about how he feels about Muslims and, ‘Ohhhh, now you’ve offended the wrong people and now you get fired.’ So people need to stop a minute and save their pity for real Americans. That would be the soldiers that stand on the line and fight for us every day. They’re the ones who fight for real freedom speech, who fight for people like you and I to be able to stand up against tyranny and say the truth on a daily basis. Those are the people that we need to reserve ourselves for and stand up for and fight for, and it is certainly not the likes of Juan Williams. This is a conservative victory. This is one guy, another guy — and there are many more — that needs to be thrown out on their butts, and this guy firmly does not need to receive one more dollar of the taxpayer’s dime. I am sick of it, sick of it, sick of it. Now I feel better. That’s all.

RUSH: You’re right! Juan Williams is a commie SOB!

CALLER: He is! I mean he has been trashing us for freakin’… Oh, my God! I am — I am 36 years old, okay? And I remember sitting on my grandpa’s knee and watching this guy, you know, talk with Liz Cheney. Remember when she was on that show Crossfire? I mean, we’re talking 30 years ago this guy was on TV, and he’s been bashing Americans for as long as I can remember.

RUSH: Yeah, but, Kim? All this is a teachable moment. It’s kind of, I would think for you, sorta sweet justice.

CALLER: It is! I’ve been trying to get this guy fired for ten years.

RUSH: He’s hoisted on his own petard here. I’m not showing any pity for Juan Williams, don’t misunderstand here. I’m using him to illustrate a very teachable moment. Also, you know, Juan Williams did, on Fox, come to my defense on this ‘Magic Negro’ stuff at one time. I actually think that is the moment where the target first began to be painted on his back.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I’ve just been handed the official e-mail from Vivian Schiller, the president, CEO, of NPR on what NPR people are supposed to say when asked — (interruption) yeah, the internal e-mail to the staff explaining what happened to Juan Williams here and what to say when they’re asked about it. By the way, Juan’s trying to get his job back. He’s calling the Tea Party racist today on Fox. (laughing) I didn’t hear it. A friend tells me that he called the Tea Party racists on Fox News this morning trying to get his job back. We have two Juan Williams sound bites here. And, by the way, our caller on Juan was one of the best callers we’ve ever had here, ‘Let’s get out of the way.’ She didn’t stutter, she didn’t stumble, not one time. Here is Juan, this is October 15th, 2009. This is on The O’Reilly Factor, bold, fresh piece of humanity. He’s got Warren Ballentine on there, and bold, fresh piece of humanity says, ‘The reason Limbaugh’s not going to be able to buy into the NFL is ’cause a bunch of made-up stuff became legend, and he got hammered.’

BALLENTINE: Okay, we won’t look at the made-up stuff. Let’s look at him playing ‘Barack the ‘Magic Negro” on his show. That’s not racial either. It is racial to real black —

WILLIAMS: Hey, Warren. Hey, Warren. You were saying that I was — my argument was a red herring. Maybe you should do some research, go back and find out that it was an article written by a black person headlined about ‘Barack the ‘Magic Negro” —

BALLENTINE: But he made it out of a song and played — he made it out of a song and played it on his show.

WILLIAMS: So what? He’s making fun of it.

BALLENTINE: Juan, it’s okay, you can go back to the porch.

RUSH: All right, Juan, go back to the porch. He called him an Uncle Tom. So Warren Ballentine called Juan Williams an Uncle Tom for truthfully explaining the ‘Barack the ‘Magic Negro” and its origins. But he also said this on August 22nd, Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace said, ‘Why would it be growing? I mean he’s been in office a year and a half. Would you think people would have more of a sense of who he is?’ This is about the poll on Obama being a Muslim.

WILLIAMS: I don’t know if you noticed but his approval ratings have been sinking, and, as his approval ratings have been sinking, I think more people feel, you know, absolutely unleashed in terms of their criticism, and I think the stuff that’s coming from the right wing, from Rush Limbaugh and the like, you know, Imam Obama —

RUSH: So he’s on both sides here and NPR still got rid of him. He’s trying to get his job back today, calling the Tea Party people racists.

Elizabeth in Wilmington, Delaware, you’re next on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Dittos from northern Wilmington. How are you?

RUSH: Fine. Thank you.

CALLER: I wanted to expand on what you said earlier about political correctness.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: And I think you almost got it, but it goes beyond what you said. It’s not just that the liberals don’t want to hear any opposition; they don’t want anyone else to hear it, either. And contrary to what we’re told, being politically correct is not a way to be sensitive to other people. We already have that and that’s called good manners. But being politically correct is just a tool to silence anybody who disagrees with the left. It’s to silence free speech.

RUSH: Yeah, exactly.

CALLER: And I’d like to illustrate some points if I have time.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Suppose you say so out loud, that you think middle schools giving condoms to students is a bad idea. They label you a religious nut trying to enforce your morals on society. And suppose you say out loud you think marriage should be between a man and a woman, you’re labeled a homophobe. And how about if you say I agree with the Arizona law, you’re a bigot. Well, nobody likes to be called these names, but these names can and they have cost people their jobs. So what do we do? We shut up. We try to show, we try to prove how tolerant we are by our silence. And when you can get your opposition to censor themselves your victory is half won.

RUSH: Exactly right.

CALLER: But I think people are starting to wise up now.

RUSH: Oh, yeah, this is what’s amazing about it. A majority of the people oppose it and yet political correctness is like women, they’re undefeated.

CALLER: Well, I think people are starting — I know where I am people are starting to say so out loud, and you can say so out loud without being nasty about it. You don’t have to be nasty to voice your opinion —

RUSH: I know.

CALLER: — but I think it’s important people say, you know, I disagree with that and this is why.

RUSH: Elizabeth, you’re right on the money. Two superb calls in a row here today.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yeah, the bottom line, the reason why political correctness wins is they sue. It is the threat of lawsuit and bankruptcy that shuts people up. The federal government has fired Juan Williams. NPR’s the federal government. Where’s Chris Coons? Where’s the ACLU? Where are all of these love-government people attacking this?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ah, this is good. The esteemed Media Matters for America, according to the Daily Caller, the Daily Caller is Chatsworth Osborne Jr.’s website. Media Matters for America is suggesting that NPR now needs to fire Mara Liasson. He-he-he-he-he. Yes. ”NPR’s Mara Liasson and her long-running association with Fox News has often raised questions. This might be the proper time for NPR to finally address that thorny issue,’ wrote Media Matters columnist Eric Boehlert Thursday in a post entitled ‘What about Mara Liasson?” (laughing) ”[I]f you look at NPR’s code of ethics, there’s simply no way Liasson should be making appearances on Fox.” Now, Media Matters and NPR are both funded by George Soros. This would seem to be an in-house decision. Now, this is just fun. We have the internal memo from the CEO of NPR explaining to the staffers over there why this happened to Juan Williams.

‘Dear AREPS,’ whatever that means, in-house acronym. ‘Thank you for all of your varying feedback on the Juan Williams situation. Let me offer some further clarification about why we terminated his contract early. First, a critical distinction has been lost in this debate. NPR News analysts have a distinctive role and set of responsibilities. This is a very different role than that of a commentator or columnist. News analysts may not take personal public positions on controversial issues; doing so undermines their credibility as analysts, and that’s what’s happened in this situation. As you all well know, we offer views of all kinds on the air every day, but those views are expressed by those we interview — not our reporters and analysts.’ (laughing) And we’re supposed to believe this crock.

‘Second, this isn’t the first time we have had serious concerns about some of Juan’s public comments.’ Now, what could Juan have said previously to have caused them concern at NPR? Could it be that defense of me, the ‘Magic Negro,’ while also on Fox when Juan was called an Uncle Tom? ‘This isn’t the first time we have had serious concerns about some of Juan’s public comments. Despite many conversations and warnings over the years, Juan has continued to violate this principal (sic).’ May I take a brief departure? I love to talk about things that have happened in my past. I got fired eight times. One of the times I got fired was for using the word ‘therefore’ too much. Well, the reason I was fired for using the word ‘therefore’ too much was that they had no cause. You know, you couldn’t kick me out of the radio station. I was doing commentary, and they had a problem with my conservatism at this particular radio station, but they didn’t want it known they were firing me for content, so they had to build a case for cause, insubordination.

They sent me a memo: ‘You cannot use the word ‘therefore.’ ‘Therefore’ clutters the mind of the listener and confuses and causes the listener terrible difficulty in comprehending the clarity of the news that we are broadcasting each day here at K- blah, blah, blah. So I endeavored, folks, and I had coaching sessions after every show. I was on the air for three hours in the afternoon, coaching sessions for an hour and a half after every three-hour show. I was a co-host and they would bring me in and I’d have to review tape and I’d listen to the program director tell me everything I was doing wrong, and they issued me warnings. And I knew what was going on. They wanted me to blow up, they wanted me to curse ’em out and threaten ’em and make it easy for them to fire me. I just agreed with everything they said. I thanked them for working so hard with me, to teach me how to do it better. I went outta my way to tell ’em, ‘I’m working hard. I’m practicing at home. I’m practicing at home at night not using the word ‘therefore.” They also said — I was calling my co-host, a female, ‘dear’ — that was too sexist, it wasn’t respectful. I couldn’t do that anymore. It didn’t bother her. She kinda liked it because very few other people were calling her ‘dear.’

But anyway, this went on for about three weeks, and finally one day they called me in, and there were three lawyers and a stenographer, and they were taking notes and they were nervous as hell and reading the reason I was being fired, and they gave me a pretty hefty severance package, the anti-lawsuit vaccination as it were. This was 20 years ago, early eighties when this happened. So I read this internal memo here: ‘This isn’t the first time we have had serious concerns about some of Juan’s public comments. Despite many conversations and warnings over the years, Juan has continued to violate this principal.’ (imitating NPR CEO) ‘He’s just uppity, he’s not taking direction, he’s not listening to his superiors.’

‘Third, these specific comments (and others made in the past), are inconsistent with NPR’s ethics code, which applies to all journalists (including contracted analysts): ‘In appearing on TV or other media … NPR journalists should not express views they would not air in their role as an NPR journalist. They should not participate in shows … that encourage punditry and speculation rather than fact-based analysis.” Well, now how the hell long has he been doing this? Now they’re going after Mara Liasson for the same reason, for the same thing. ‘Unfortunately, Juan’s comments on Fox violated our standards as well as our values and offended many in doing so.’ And then this. This, folks, is the piece de resistance. Maybe I should preface this by ‘therefore.’ ‘We’re profoundly sorry that this happened during fundraising week.’ (laughing) It happened during fundraising week! These are people that couldn’t support themselves if they had to. This happened during our annual beg-athon. ‘We’re profoundly sorry that this happened during fundraising week. Juan’s comments were made Monday night and we did not feel it would be responsible to delay this action. This was a tough decision and we appreciate your support. Thanks, Vivian Schiller
President & CEO, NPR.’

Maybe they should hire Rick Sanchez to replace Juan Williams. They obviously have an opening over there. My question, how could it not have happened during fundraising week? Aren’t they raising money everyday at NPR? Aren’t they giving away some cheap little bag or coffee mug asking for some pledge? ‘Without your pledge we cannot exist at NPR.’ Schiller, is that not the perfect name for somebody that runs an organization called NPR, Schiller, as in ‘you shill’? And now they’re going after Mara Liasson. Mara Liasson, I’m sure she thinks she is in a protected class, and now the left is going after its own. It’s all because they’re on Fox. It’s not because of this Muslim stuff. I’m sorry, Middle Eastern liberals. That’s what we’re calling ’em now here on the EIB Network. So NPR, they’re just a bunch of shills for the ruling class, and Juan embarrassed ’em out there during pledge week.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You know, some people might say that Juan Williams was canned during fundraising week because it’s fundraising week. Their donors are all liberals and it’s a great, great promotion out there to fire Juan Williams. Where are they going to find another African-American with an Hispanic name? That’s the real question. They gotta fill two different minority categories here with one guy. I mean, it’s possible they could do it. Maybe Whoopi Goldberg. I don’t know if she would deign to work at NPR. There’s another Juan Williams quote that upset NPR. He said this about Michelle Obama and this comes to me from the editrix of our newsletter, the Limbaugh Letter, Diana Allocco. You know she’s got the Stokely Carmichael the designer dress thing going. I can’t tell you the number of women who send me notes begging me to comment on the way Michelle Obama dresses, and I’m not going there. I wouldn’t touch any of this. (interruption)

Because, there’s no winning! There just no way. You could come up with some of the most fabulous lines in the world, and you get Juan Williamsed. You would get Williamsed. It would be ‘Williamsnacht.’ I mean, I read that the fashion designers say that she’s setting new fashion standards (laughing) you know, I think McNabb. I just can’t deal with it. So you wouldn’t believe the number of women who want me to repeat the things they say about Michelle. (interruption) No, they don’t like it at all. They don’t. No. No. They don’t like it, and they don’t like that the libs say she’s setting new standard fashions in a positive way. They really don’t like that. One of them said… You know, I shouldn’t. Okay, I won’t do it. (sigh) You know, to talk about Michelle Obama’s wardrobe is a ‘no Juan’ situation. That one of them when she met the king and queen of Spain? (chuckles) Here’s Juan trying to get his job back. Audio sound bite 27, Juan Williams trying to get his job back on Fox & Friends this morning. Brian Kilmeade says, ‘This NAACP report, is this just a political scare tactic aimed at rallying African-American voters for the midterm elections?’ This is the NAALCP report claiming they have finally concluded regretfully that the Tea Party is a bunch of racists.

WILLIAMS: I tell you what. Right from the start I have been very clear and I have written that I didn’t see racism in the Tea Party at its start, that this was about big government and animosity towards big government; people who were upset about high taxes, and a lot of people concerned about health care reform. But I must tell you guys that when I go to a Tea Party rally and I see the signs, there are some signs there that just look to me like racism. And when you hear some of the sentiments expressed… This guy Mark Williams who was a spokesman for the Tea Party and went online and he did this racist — I think he mighta thought it was funny — mocking of black people, this crosses a line and makes me as a black person uncomfortable. So the report may be weak, but it’s not that there is nothing to be concerned about.

RUSH: Well, what a great NPR-type thing to say! The report may be full of it, but it’s really good to be concerned about it. So it didn’t work. It didn’t work. (interruption) Well, no, you can’t report on the racism of the NAACP because there isn’t any. Because they don’t have ‘the power’ to implement their racism. This is what the Reverend Jackson has always said. It looks to me like with this sound bite that Juan has ‘pivoted,’ and he’s moving back in the direction of the NPR. They showed him the whip-hand and he responded. That’s what happened here. So he’s moving back, and he’s trying to get in their good graces. He did it on Fox today. Tina, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, welcome to the EIB Network. Great to have you here.

CALLER: Oh, my dear Rush. Congratulations on your recent upgrade.

RUSH: Thank you. (laughing)

CALLER: I remember when our beloved, oh-so-esteemed now-Vice President Bite Me said that you couldn’t walk into a 7-Eleven without seeing an Indian or hearing an Indian accent.

RUSH: That’s right.

CALLER: Nobody commented on that.

RUSH: Well, they did. ‘That’s just Bite Me being Bite Me.’

CALLER: Well, yeah, they’ve always used that excuse.

RUSH: Yeah, they just excused it, ‘Oh, that’s just Joe. You know, that’s just Joe being Joe.’

CALLER: Yeah. Well, nobody comments and no one asks for his head on a spike.

RUSH: That’s what I mean. We’re supposed to look the other way because these are such good people. They’re so compassionate.

CALLER: Yeah, right.

RUSH: They’re such nice people.

CALLER: It’s bull. (chuckles)

RUSH: I love that characterization of my marriage as an ‘upgrade.’

CALLER: (chuckles) It’s a hell of an upgrade!

RUSH: Oh! (laughing) Okay. (laughing) Ooooookay.

RUSH: Snerdley, did ABC News really report this? Get this, folks, ABC News: ‘NPR CEO Vivian Schiller: Whatever feelings Williams has about Muslims should be between him and ‘his psychiatrist or his publicist.” Isn’t that her personal opinion? That’s what she said, so now Juan Williams needs a shrink in addition to they had to can Juan Williams during pledge week, now he’s a lunatic. Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho. Why am I laughing at this? (laughing) I don’t know why I’m laughing. Yeah, Juan needs to get his mind right. They are vicious. They really are. I mean, I’m sure NPR is being just lit up today over how bad a decision this is. Yeah, I’m sure they pulled their comments, because they had talking points, what the people are supposed to say when anybody questioned them about why Juan Williams was summarily canned, and just like when you disagree with a liberal decision, you’re the idiot. So now they’ve gotten their backs up and they’re really ticked off. ‘Oh, yeah? Well, look, you tell him to go talk about that with his psychiatrist.’ You don’t tell a liberal how to run their business, folks, especially in the news business.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A quick question here born of compassion. Will Juan Williams be able to use his NPR health care plan to go see his psychiatrist that the CEO, Schiller, suggested he should do? Now, if he has a mental illness, aren’t they firing somebody who’s disabled and therefore he can sue? Americans with Disability Act. I mean there are all kinds of avenues. You know I would what do — (laughing) — can you name three conservatives on NPR? Can you name two conservatives on NPR? You need a week? (interruption) No, regular. Not guest. Can you name one conservative on NPR? Is there anybody at Fox we could put on NPR, keep Juan on Fox and send them over to NPR, is there anybody at Fox that we could send NPR to level the playing field? I’m just asking. Send Shepard Smith over there?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This might explain Vivian Schiller. Prior to joining NPR, she served at the New York Times company, senior vice president, general manager of NewYorkTimes.com. She led the day-to-day operations of NewYorkTimes.com, the largest newspaper website on the Internet, overseeing product, technology, marketing, classifieds, strategic planning, and business development, which is bizarre since there’s no political correctness on display at the New York Times. He-he-he.
