Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Democrats led the charge to create the Department of Homeland Security. They saidwe’dbe safer if intelligence agencies operated under one department with customs and immigration. With a cabinet-level appointee heading the effort, they said, there would be accountability.

Well, using the Freedom of Information Act, Cybercast News Service obtained an Immigration and Customs database that puts those claims to the test. In the past few years, the Department of Homeland Security caught– and then released– over 480 illegal aliens from nations that are listed as either state-sponsors of terrorism or “countries of interest.” They’re now fugitives; theycould stillbein the US, planning or doing who-knows-what.

Eighty-sevenof the fugitives are from Pakistan. Others are from such friendly places as Iran, Yemen, Algeria, and even some fromSaudi Arabia.

Asked why they were released, an Immigration spokeswoman told Cybercast News Service: “On any given day, the immigration detention system has about 32,000 beds available for people going through immigration proceedings. There are 1.6 million people going through some kind of immigration court proceeding. So you can’t detain everyone.” She said that those meeting “mandatory detention” requirements, or who are determined to be “flight risks,” are held. “We have to prioritize who we put in detention,” she said.

So apparently, illegals from countries sponsoring terrorismaren’t priorities. Over 480 are running loose;it just took 19 to attack us on 9/11.

You do the math.
