The July 2011 End Date is History

by Rush Limbaugh - Jun 24,2010

RUSH: Why do you listen to this show? Let me give you another example why you listen to this show. Just mere moments ago in discussing the replacement of McChrystal with Petraeus, I said, ‘There goes the July 2011 withdrawal deadline.’ It ain’t going to happen. We’re not going to come home by July 2011. This is Petraeus’ war now, not Obama’s. Petraeus is there to save Obama’s bacon. They can’t win this thing by July 2011. Let’s go to the audio sound bites, press conference today, reporter: ‘President Obama, does the change in command change your timetable for withdrawal?’

OBAMA: What we saw yesterday was a change in personnel but not a change in policy. We did not say that starting July 2011 suddenly there would be no troops from the United States or allied countries in Afghanistan. We didn’t say we’d be switching off the lights and closing the door behind us. General Petraeus understands that strategy because he helped shape it. And my expectation is that he will be outstanding in implementing it, and we will not miss a beat.

RUSH: Oh-ho-ho. I’m telling you the base is not going to like this. I told you we’re not going to get out of there in July of 2011, and the president just said so. Just like I told you they’re not gonna close Gitmo. We’re not getting out of there in July of 2011. Told you. In fact, when he said it the first time, I didn’t think he really meant it. He was just trying to appease this fringe lunatic bunch, the MoveOn.orgs, the Americans for Progress or Think Progress — whatever the hell they are out there.
