One of the President’s girlie men is finally telling the truth about what’s in the health care takeover now that it’s law. That would be Peter Orszag, Obama’s Budget Director, spoke to the Economic Club of Washington earlier this month. The video is just now surfacing.

Orszag said controlling health care costs is the only way to address “our long-term fiscal imbalance.” What followed was chilling. Orszag admitted that the way costs will be controlled is to move Medicare away from paying doctors and hospitals based on the number of people they serve to payment based on “efficiencies.” That responsibility falls to the Independent Payment Medicare Board. In other words, “The Panel.”

According to Orszag this panel has been enormous power. It will take an act of Congress and the President’s signature to overturn their decisions on cutting Medicare costs. Again, the panel’s marching orders are to reimburse Medicare doctors and hospitals for “efficiency” – not the number of patients they treat.

Mr. Orszag was asked if it had been carefully explained to Congress just how powerful this board would be. He replied: “Yes, it was. That’s why it was so difficult to…” and he caught himself before he finished: “so difficult to get it passed.”

Obama, Dingy Harry, and Nancy Pelsoi spent a year telling us this kind of panel didn’t exist – and anyone who said it did was lying.

Well it does exist. It’s law. As it unfolds we will learn the rest of the horror story. In fact, that’s why Pelosi said we had to pass the bill, to scare the hell out of us.
