RUSH: We have a 16-year-old on the phone from Daytona Beach, Florida. It’s Jordan, and hello, Jordan. We welcome you here.

CALLER: Thank you, Mr. Rush. How are you?

RUSH: Very good, sir. Thank you.

CALLER: Like you said, I’m 16. I’m currently in high school. I’m dual enrolled also at a college. I just wanted to hear your take on what do you think the country in general — ours — has in store, especially in my future.

RUSH: That’s an excellent question, and I have two ways to go here with this. I could tell you the truth, or I could paint a picture hoping that what it would do would be motivate the heck out of you. Which do you want?

CALLER: Uhhh, does it have to be just one?

RUSH: (laughing) You want both! All right, here’s what I actually think is going to happen. This is a great country at risk in a dangerous world. And, Jordan, the threats to this nation have always been external. Today, the threat is internal. The Democrat Party has been so radicalized and is out to remake and essentially refound this country. They don’t like the way it’s currently constituted. They want more and more power. They want more and more people as serfs, dependent on them and the government that they run because they view that as a way to stay in perpetual power because you’ll obviously vote for the people that are supporting you, keeping you alive. There are more Americans opposed to this than there are in favor of it. And these Americans — you’re one of them — are going to do everything they can to prevent this from happening, to stop this politically. Now, I happen to be an optimist and I happen to be one who believes in the goodness and the decency of the American people.

And I know for a fact that the majority of Americans are not in favor of what President Obama and the Democrats want to do. They have no desire for it. Now, a significant percentage of Americans is in favor of it. I don’t know what that number is, but it’s nowhere near a majority. And there are people. And there are people all over this country, people that you’ve heard of and people that you haven’t and people that you will never hear of who are striving and working hard, trying to defeat the Democrats from succeeding at this. And I have the ultimate faith that we’re gonna win. The country means too much to people — it means too much to their children and grandchildren, it means too much to the world — to just let it go, to let it become one of many nations that’s no longer exceptional, that no longer does good. I don’t think America’s destiny is defeat. I don’t think our destiny is the loss of greatness. I just think every generation will rise to the occasion, and yours will have to, in order to stave this off. Now, in telling you that, one of the risks in being optimistic and positive is that people say, ‘Oh, good! Rush says everything is going to be okay. Now I don’t have to worry about it.’

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: And that breeds apathy and apathy, if too many people do become apathetic, then these forces that are trying to reshape the country win. So the second option I coulda said is, ‘Jordan, we’re in trouble. I don’t know if we can save the country. I have never seen it under attack internally this way. I have never seen this in my life. I have never dreamed in my life lifetime we would have a president who dislikes this country as much as he does, and holds as much of it in contempt as much as he does. I would have never dreamed that we would have had a president who is doing everything he can to destroy the very engine that creates prosperity and freedom in this country, the American private sector and capitalism,’ and in saying something like that… It depends on who you tell that to. Some people get defeated with that, go, ‘Oh, gee!’ Others get motivated.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: Others say, ‘Well, I’m not going to let that happen.’ So the answer is both. It’s going to be up to you.

CALLER: I would like to think —

RUSH: Your generation, your generation is the target. You haven’t even started earning your living yet. You may have a part-time job, you may be earning some money, but you’re living, the result of your education. You haven’t even started earning your living yet and already it’s being taxed because we’re in debt.

CALLER: Yeah. Well, I’d like to think your optimism would be correct, however I think that we’re in the situation we’re in currently — in specific the people we have elected and our chief-in-commander Obama — is due to the fact of many people in America nowadays are, I believe, just plain-out ignorant. And if that is one of the root problems and education is not improving — which, you know, I go to a high school and I also attend a college as I’m dual enrolled — I don’t seem to think that education in general is improving. I fear that the American people in general are just getting dumber and dumber.

RUSH: Okay. So change it! So being change it. I agree with you. I think there’s more and more ignorance on the rise. It’s easy to be ignorant. It’s hard to learn. I here am trying to change that. You’ve got to join us. It’s one thing to think it but if you don’t take action on it then you’re letting it happen. You gotta fight it. Like I said Friday, ‘What can you do? You be the one in your family that everybody turns to for the right answer on the questions of politics and policy. You be the one that gets educated. You be the one that becomes a teacher. You be the one that everybody turns to when they need to know what the truth is about what’s going on.’
