RUSH: Yesterday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the hapless Obama, which is I think… You remember Neil Diamond, brother love traveling USO show, whatever? Town hall traveling campaign show is what the Obama administration is now. And Obama announced that AARP is totally on board his plan. Well, privately they are. AARP: Think of them as MoveOn.org with false teeth.

AARP has been funneling big bucks that they scammed out of old people all the way to the DNC and so forth, but they never, ever wanted their rank-and-file to know they were on board with the Obama plan. They have not publicly said so. Privately, I’m sure, they have assured the Obama administration and Democrats that they’re all for it. But today the MoveOn.org for people with false teeth at AARP are scrambling because the rank-and-file at AARP are saying, ‘What the hell is this? We didn’t sign up for Obamacare!’ More and more senior citizens are coming to find out what’s in this plan and do not want it, don’t want any part of it. Even a lib blogger — or not a blogger. Well, I guess you call it blogger. Some lib, I got it in the stack here, posting on Tina Brown’s new website Daily Beast, who’s big lib, big pro-national health care, says: My gosh, we’re killing it ourselves!

There is end-of-life care. There is euthanasia if you want to look at this. This bill is horrible, if you want to look at it. And the libs are also upset with the deal Obama has made with Big Pharma. I had a story from Robert B. Reichhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-uh yesterday from Salon.com, didn’t get today and today Ruth Marcus in the Washington Post. What Obama did, what Obama did, is he accepted $150 million from Big Pharma in exchange for going easy on them with drug price demands, reductions. And the libs are upset. They’re saying, ‘This is extortion!’ And they’re saying, ‘What are we doing? We’re going to have our president getting in bed with big business to get big legislation done,’ and they’re just beside themselves. So there’s a lot of stuff Obama is doing that his supporters don’t know. The AARP has not officially come out for this.

The rank-and-file has said, ‘What the hell is our organization doing?’ Because they’re more and more convinced that there’s rationing, and there is, and that end-of-life is determined to be whenever you’re not worth living, and more and more people are seeing this in the plan. So it’s not good. Finally, we went back and found from Bloomberg, April 29th of this year, just a few short months ago: ‘President Obama said his…’ Are you seasoned citizens listening to this? ‘President Obama said his grandmother’s hip replacement surgery during the final weeks of her life…’ Listen to me, now. Look at me. Look at me. ‘President Barack Obama said his grandmother’s hip-replacement surgery during the final weeks of her life made him wonder whether expensive procedures for the terminally ill reflect a ‘sustainable model’ for health care.’

He had already thrown his grandmother under the bus, ‘she’s a typical white woman,’ when doing the speech on the Reverend Wright, and back in April, on the 29th, he said: Yeah, my grandmother got a hip replacement, and I said is this really worth it? She’s terminal. Is it really worth it? We have to think about this. ‘The president’s grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, had a hip replaced after she was diagnosed with cancer, Obama said in an interview with the New York Times magazine that was published today. Dunham, who lived in Honolulu, died at the age of 86 on Nov. 2, 2008, two days before her grandson’s election victory. ‘I don’t know how much that hip replacement cost,’ Obama said in the interview. ‘I would have paid out of pocket for that hip replacement just because she’s my grandmother,” but people aren’t going to be able to do that with this plan. But he actually tells the New York Times, ‘My grandmother needs a hip replacement. She’s got cancer. Is it worth it? Can we sustain this?’ It’s like yesterday: What a faux pas in trying to sell his government-run — ripping the Post Office and praising UPS and FedEx.

RUSH: I tell you, if the Democrats want a shot at getting what they want, they need to pull Obama off the circuit. They need to get him off the circuit. They need to get him off the stage. He is an idiot. He displayed it yesterday. He is not their hope; he is a disaster. He is now out there saying stupid stuff. He is making stupid analogies. He is detached from the reality of this debate where it is right now. There’s a reason that David Axelrod has him wedded to a teleprompter. He’s a disaster. He’s an unmitigated disaster when he is away from the teleprompter. They’ve got to get him off the circuit. We, of course, want him to stay. Camille Paglia at Salon.com says Pelosi’s gotta go. I love Camille Paglia, but I respectfully disagree. We don’t want Pelosi to go away. We don’t want her to remain the Botox face of the Democrat Party and its health care efforts. We want Obama on the circuit. Something else he said yesterday, in addition to that.

In the context he was trying to assure people that the public option would not ruin private insurance, would not get rid of private insurance companies, he said, ‘Hey, I mean, look, uh, uh, UPS, FedEx, they do pretty well. The Post Office is in big trouble.’ Yeah, a government entity, much like the one he’s setting up to run health care, can’t compete, does it wrong. That’s the kind of undisciplined, silly, stupid analogy. And then he said… He’s back now to accusing surgeons of doing unnecessary surgeries for the money. He said, ‘If that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that’s 30,000 to 40 to $50,000 immediately that the surgeon is reimbursed.’ So he’s accusing doctors of amputating feet and other limbs from diabetics simply for money. I tell you, he’s turning into the biggest liability they have. It’s just amazing to watch this, and I think they all know it. I think they’re beginning to realize it.

RUSH: ‘Democrats Have a Senior Citizen Problem.’ This is The Politico, and I looooove how this article tries so hard. I’m not going to read the whole article to you, but the article tries to get around the truth of what’s going to happen to seasoned citizens under the public option at the end of their life. But at the very last paragraph they just can’t help it. The very last paragraph, listen to this from The Politico, State-Controlled Media: ‘America’s Health Insurance Plan, a trade group for insurers, contends that slashing $156 billion from private Medicare Advantage plans would have a significant impact on seniors. ‘Seniors have been told that their coverage is not going to change, and if they like their coverage, they can keep it,’ said Robert Zirkelbach. ‘The fact of the matter is that if these cuts to Medicare Advantage go through as planned, seniors are going to face increased premiums, reduced benefits, and in some parts of the country they’re going to lose access to their Medicare Advantage plan altogether,” and this, ladies and gentlemen, is in a story with the State-Controlled Media doing everything it can to assure seniors, ‘Yeah, there’s a problem but it’s not as bad as you think,’ and that last paragraph says to senior citizens, ‘You are screwed, grandma!’

RUSH: Well, the old reliable, Joe Klein, TIME Magazine, blog post: ‘Scaring the Elderly: Beyond Reprehensible — Sarah Palin talking about the death panels is just reprehensible. Rush Limbaugh telling people that the government will decide whether or not it’s worth investing in their health care. It’s just reprehensible. My entire adult life (including, of course, the period of time I have served as a national figure behind the Golden EIB Microphone) every two years, during every political campaign, I have had to listen — from Alan Cranston, to George Mitchell, to every Democrat I know, even Lawton Chiles in Florida — to Democrats threaten and tell senior citizens every two to four years that Republicans want to cut their Social Security, that Republicans want to kick them out of their homes.

I remember Lawton Chiles doing it in a debate with Jeb Bush. I remember Alan Cranston doing it. I remember leading up into the ’88 presidential election, Bush versus… I guess it was The Loser, Dukakis. Yeah. Scaring seniors? Reprehensible? We’re warning them! We are warning seniors, Joe, you doofus! God Lord, what has happened to the mainstream media? It’s as though all of this has never happened before except this time it’s genuine. There’s no fearmongering. There is a warning. We are shouting it from the mountaintops. Hey, Joe, you might want to go over to Tina Brown’s website, because there’s a post there by a guy named Lee Siegel, ‘Obama’s Euthanasia Mistake.’ This guy is a huge lib. He’s big-time pro-national health care.

‘For those of us who believe that the absence of universal health care is America’s burning shame, the spectacle of opposition to Obama’s health-care plan is Alice-in-Wonderland bewildering and also enraging — but on one point the plan’s critics are absolutely correct. One of the key ideas under consideration — which can be read as expressing sympathy for limitations on end-of-life care — is morally revolting. And it’s helping to kill the plan itself. Make no mistake about it. Determining which treatments are ‘cost effective’ at the end of a person’s life and which are not is one of Obama’s priorities. It’s one of the principal ways he counts on saving money and making universal healthcare affordable.’ ‘Obama’s Euthanasia Mistake,’ by Lee Siegel.

I don’t know who Lee Siegel is. I didn’t click on the bio, but it’s at Tina Brown’s website, The Daily Beast. There’s much more said. He quotes from Obama what he told Diane Sawyer and so forth. This guy, he thinks the second greatest sin in America after slavery is we don’t have national health care, and Obama is killing it. He says there’s no way… Let me give you a quote, a pull quote. ‘This is the Big Brother nightmare of oppressive government that the shrewd propagandists on the right are always blathering on about. Except that this time, they could not be more right.’ Propagandists. But anyway, what’s in the bill is in the bill. And Obama can deny it all he wants. I don’t even think he… This performance yesterday was as undisciplined, unprofessional, as attached from reality as any. It just summed up why Axelrod tethers this guy to a teleprompter at every occasion — and when he doesn’t, I guarantee you they’re down there biting their nails off to the quick backstage.
