Obama Denounced Rushed Legislation in 2004 Interview

by Rush Limbaugh - Jul 28,2009

RUSH: Back in November of 2004, Obama was on the radio — and he had a discussion with the insane, lunatic host about the whole process of legislation.

OBAMA: When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what’s in them and nobody’s read ’em.

INSANE, LUNATIC HOST: Fourteen pounds, it was!

OBAMA: Yeah. Uh, and it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate, uh, then these kinds of things happen, and I think that this is — is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean, you remember there was no real debate about that, it was so qui — uh, quick after 9/11 that it was introduced —

INSANE, LUNATIC HOST: Mmmph.

OBAMA: — that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

RUSH: That’s five years ago, coming up on five years. Obama is complaining and whining and moaning about all the legislation that was hurried through. We didn’t have time to read it. Patriot Act. You can’t rush these things; they’re too big, they’re too cumbersome. What’s he doing? We need a new stimulus bill by the weekend! We need health care by next Saturday. We need cap and trade passed by Labor Day. And we need Limbaugh off the radio by the end of the year. Its’ gotta happen. It’s gotta happen now. It’s gotta happen now.’ In fact, let’s go back to the White House press conference on Wednesday. Yeah, go ahead and run this.

REPORTER: Why the rush? Are you worried that, uh, if you don’t — there’s a delay until the fall, the whole effort will collapse?

OBAMA (sped up): I’m rushed because I get letters every day from families that are being clobbered by health care costs and they ask me, ‘Can you help?’ So I’ve got a, uhh, middle-aged couple that will write me, and they say, ‘Our daughter just found out she’s got leukemia, and if I don’t, uh, do something soon, we just… Either going to go bankrupt or, uh —

RUSH: That’s it.

OBAMA: (sped up): — we’re not going to be able to get our daughter the care, uh —

RUSH: That’s it! Time crunch. That’s it. So we gotta hurry because he’s getting letters from people. Now, over in Congress the letters are 15-to-one in opposition to his plan. But now we gotta hurry because he’s getting letters.
