RUSH: Bob in Auburn, Massachusetts, nice to have you with us here on Open Line Friday on Thursday. Hi.

CALLER: Rush, glad to get to talk to you. Big fan.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: Big, big fan. You know, I want to run the health care thing by you. I think people are missing the whole point here and maybe you’re not, because I try to listen as much as I can but sometimes I don’t. Obama really doesn’t care about health care at all. He doesn’t care if it costs $10 trillion. It has nothing to do with health care. All it has to do with is blackmailing Republican voters. And I’ll tell you the reason how he’s going to do this. Once it gets passed, you know the private sector is gonna bounce most of their insurance over to the government plan.

RUSH: Yes, sir.

CALLER: Could be 50, could be a hundred million people. Forty percent of those people are Republicans. Now, you go in and you cast your vote, and if you think you’re going to cast a vote for a Republican when maybe your wife has cancer or somebody in your family has got a big problem? No, as a matter of fact you’re probably not even going to register as a Republican anymore because you’re going to be too afraid to. And don’t be surprised if there’s a landslide for him again in 2012.

RUSH: Wait a minute. I missed a step here. A hundred million Americans go to the government-run health care, 40% of them are Republicans that do that.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: What does that have to do with the way they’re going to vote?

CALLER: Well, Rush, there’s an advisory council that’s going to vote on your health, okay? And now if you’re a Republican, and anyone in your family was over a quarter of the —

RUSH: Oh, oh, oh, oh. I missed it. You’re saying that a Democrat government run by Obama deciding who to approve and not to approve in terms of care and what kind of care —

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: — will look at party affiliation and say, ah, you go to the back of the line, we gotta take care of —

CALLER: This is what it’s all about, Rush, believe me. He doesn’t care one bit about health care.

RUSH: You could have a point there. They are doing that in other things. Some people tried to establish that that’s how they were closing dealerships. I don’t think anybody closed the loop for sure on this. But the one thing you’re really right about is, it isn’t about health care. That’s just the diving board, if you will, the springboard to get into your heart, it’s not about health care at all. It’s about control; it’s about grabbing two-and-a-half trillion dollars from the private economy and bringing it into government Obama control.

Somebody called here the other day and made a good point. There really isn’t a crisis in health care in this country. The crisis in health care, if you want to say that does exist, is the fear that a major illness or catastrophic could wipe you out. Which isn’t gonna change. In fact, the odds of you being wiped out by a catastrophe or accident once the government gets started running this stuff is greater than if the private sector does, but day to day there’s no health care crisis in this country. You can get it. So it isn’t about health care per se. This is just about gaining control, taking money, and controlling people’s lives, and wiping out Republicans, a nice cherry on top.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, folks, I don’t want to minimize our previous caller’s point that an Obama administration running health care could cause fear among Republicans and not getting treated. I have some people — I don’t know any of these people — but I have some friends who know Republicans who vote for Democrats because of the stem cell issue. But their kids are sick and they think the Democrats are the ones that care about it. So if you’re Republican, and you have a sick child, and you think you’ll be discriminated against by Obama health care because you are a Republican, what are you likely to do? Switch parties, at least in your registration. Look. This administration is utilizing just this kind of fear to get everything it wants and they’re having some success with it

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: He’s Alex in Houston, Alex, nice to have you here on the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos from Houston.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: It’s an honor to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: Hey I just wanted to say real quick you motivate, you inspire — and, you know, we out here, my family and I appreciate everything that you and Hannity and Levin do. We appreciate it.

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.

CALLER: Hey, I wanted to mention that I am from El Salvador. I’m in the medical industry, and El Salvador does have nationalized health care. It’s a Social Security health care. It just doesn’t work. I was there, you know, the medication and the pharmaceuticals that people think they’re going to get from this, don’t exist. It will not exist. And, you know, it’s supposed to be a prestigious honor for the doctors to work in the hospitals out there. And the bottom line is, if they don’t participate in the Social Security hospitals, they get bullied. They magically get audited, their license gets yanked for a couple or two or three weeks, and they actually truly bully you into giving up a few of your hours to work at the hospitals, and I think somehow that’s going to happen here.

RUSH: One way or another, some strain of it will no doubt happen. When the government is in charge this there’s nowhere else you can go for a grievance there’s nowhere else you can work for when they control the industry. If you complain you’re up deep doo-doo. Of course we had a great call yesterday from some guy in Ontario right across the lake or the bridge from Detroit. And he’s citing a case of a guy with stage four melanoma. There are two hospitals that are great in treating kind of cancer he’s got, 30 minutes away in Detroit. Canada ‘approved’ him only to go to Buffalo, four hours away, approved. You think health care is a crisis and you want it fixed and so forth, think about some bureaucrat that you will never meet having to ‘approve’ whatever treatment you want or need. Approve! And then think about the likelihood of being approved if the bureaucrat happens to know that you oppose Obama or Biden.

Whether it happens… See, the point here is not, ladies and gentlemen… Look at me. I want you to understand this. The point is not whether that would be the determining factor in how they decide. All they need is the fear in you. All they need is you thinking that you’ll be discriminated against if you’re not a Democrat. Whether they discriminate or not, all they need is the fear to get you to get your mind right, to get in line with the right people. All they have to do is create that fear. It’s like Republicans voting for Democrats because they’ve got a kid that they think stem cell research will cure, when there isn’t any progress at all in embryonic stem cells. These Democrats see the Republicans not caring about it; the Democrats are the only ones interested in it. So they’re voting for them. It’s really convoluted. This is what you get when you have a political party, among other things, that can’t explain itself ’cause it doesn’t know what it stands for. Individuals in the party can, but the party itself doesn’t at this stage of the game.
