RUSH: An acquaintance of my family passed away and I’ve been asked to recognize this man. His name is George Parker. He died at 86 of pancreatic cancer. He was known in Boone County, Missouri, as the godfather of the Republican Party. He died in Columbia on Tuesday of last week. He is survived by a wife, son, and three daughters. He was a huge Republican Party pioneer, nationally and locally. He’s best known for — and you may have heard of these — he’s best known as the founder of the Grand Order of Pachyderms, which is a Republican club that had 90 or so chapters all over the country, and he was one of these people in the Republican Party, one of the good guys that you never heard about because he never sought recognition or fame, but he was an acquaintance of our family, and I wanted to pass along condolences to the Parker family for his passing. I never knew him personally, but a lot of my family did.
