RUSH: I want to read to you a quote from President Obama on Sunday at Notre Dame about how we approach disagreements. Now, stick with me on this. Said Obama at Notre Dame: ‘When we open up our hearts and our minds to those who may not think precisely like we do or believe precisely what we believe, that’s when we discover at least the possibility of common ground, when we open up our hearts and minds.’ Obama pointed to his days as a community organizer on Chicago’s south side and Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, the deceased longtime archbishop of Chicago.

‘He was kind and good and wise man, saintly man,’ said Obama. ‘He stood as both lighthouse and at a crossroads, unafraid to speak his mind on moral issues ranging from poverty, AIDS, abortion, to the death penalty and nuclear war. And yet he was congenial and gentle in his persuasion, always trying to bring people together, always trying to find common ground.’ Never mind Obama joined Jeremiah Wright’s church after all this influence from Cardinal Bernardin, but that’s beside the point. Obama is saying we gotta open our hearts and minds. We have to discover at least the possibility of common ground.

Next story: ‘The Office of Governor Jim Gibbons was notified today that President Barack Obama has refused to meet with the Governor and key business leaders from Nevada. Governor Gibbons requested the meeting in a letter to President Obama so the President could address statements he made that were critical to Nevada and have caused economic damage to convention business and tourism business in [Nevada]. Earlier this year, the President told an audience in Elkhart, Indiana, ‘You can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime.” Those days are over. ‘That quote was seen by many as an insult to Las Vegas,’ and, by the way, Vegas tourism is way down, and Vegas unemployment is way up.

So the governor said (paraphrased), ‘Hey, how about some common ground? How about we open up our hearts and open up our minds to those who don’t think precisely like we do so that we can maybe discover some common ground?’ And Obama said: (blowing a raspberry) you! ‘The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reports over 400 conventions and business meetings scheduled to take place in Las Vegas recently have cancelled. These cancelled events translate into 111,800 guests in Las Vegas and over 250,000 ‘room-nights’. The cancelled conventions and meetings have cost the Las Vegas economy over $100-million, not including gaming revenue. ‘I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this Administration,’ Gibbons said, ‘President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser [for Dingy Harry], but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work…”

All he’d have to do is say, ‘Please, people, start touring. Start traveling. Start doing conventions again,’ but he won’t do it! He won’t meet with the governor of Nevada! But he just got through telling everybody at Notre Dame that the only way we’re going to solve our problems is by opening our hearts and our minds to people that see things differently than we do. It’s a giant, 100% snub. The Las Vegas media is all over the place with this. Remember, Obama says, ‘We must find a way to live together as one human family. Moreover, no one person or religion or nation can meet these challenges alone. Our very survival has never required greater cooperation and understanding among all people from all places than at this moment in history.’ That’s Obama at Notre Dame. But he’s not the one that ever cooperates. He kneecaps people to get them to cooperate! Las Vegas can’t survive a successful War on Prosperity. They’re asking for cooperation and understanding from the man waging the War on Prosperity. No open dialogue with Las Vegas. Obama to Nevada: (raspberry) you!

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: All right. Here’s the governor of Nevada — and it’s strictly a Nevada story. It hasn’t gone beyond the state borders — he wants to meet with Obama because Obama’s destroyed tourism in Las Vegas. Obama will not meet with him. But this is the thing, you see, President Obama and his ilk are never held to account, folks, for the damage they cause. They never take responsibility nor are they asked to take responsibility for the damage they cause. Not only that, the damage they cause is never calculated or reported, other than in state media like it was out in Las Vegas. The only thing that matters is Obama is doing all these things and he says things are going to be better. And while all this hope and change is supposed to be improving things, everything’s worse! Everything is worse. And there’s no accountability for it. Just gets all the credit, when no credit is due!
