RUSH: Topeka, Kansas, this is Debbie. Debbie, it’s nice to have you on the program. Hello.

CALLER: Hello. How are you?

RUSH: Fine.

CALLER: I’m calling in, I — I saw the report that Barack Obama, 72% of the people strongly approve of him in the first 100 days, and from ABC News. What I got a hold of was the PDF file that has all of the questions asked of them, because I couldn’t believe it. I went to the tea parties and 25% of the people there were Democrats that were disapproving of the way things were going. So I got a copy of this report from ABC News, and what they’re reporting is so misleading. You know, if you add up — if you take a look at the numbers and you add them up — the approval rating of his programs is less than 60%, and the funniest thing that he got the highest approval rating on was the situation in Iraq, 71% of the people approve of that.

RUSH: I believe some of this, because even Rasmussen today has a poll out, I forget the number, well over 50%, Deb, of the American people believe in the private sector, not big government. But he’s got high approval numbers. What people are saying is they love him personally. People like him personally. They really don’t like his policies much, but it’s the like him personally that’s getting him through everything. The like him personally allows people to say, ‘Well, he doesn’t really know about all this stuff that’s going on. Administrations are very big.’ It’s not even a hundred days yet. It’s very hard to make him accountable. But that’s the challenge that we all have. The task that we have is to attach ownership of all this stuff to Barack Obama.

CALLER: Well, when they asked the specific questions, only 51% of the people approve of the federal budget deficit.

RUSH: Yup.

CALLER: When you ask about the situation with the US automakers, only 41% approve. So when you take a look at what they ask, his approval ratings for a specific item are actually pretty low.

RUSH: On policy. ‘But how do you think he’s doing at president?’

‘Oh, oh-ho-ho, I love the guy! Wonderful!’

‘What about his auto policy?’ ‘Ah, I don’t like that. But I love the guy! He’s so smart. He’s so elegant!’

‘What about his plan to save the banks?’

‘I don’t know that we need the government running the show.’

‘What about him?’

‘I love him! Ho-ho! I love the guy!’

Look, you have identified why a lot of people are going insane trying to understand the American people.

CALLER: It makes me insane because I don’t… What’s interesting is, my whole family basically is Democrat, and none of them like him.

RUSH: Yeah. I know, that makes it worse, but we’re just going to have to work harder on tying all this stuff personally in an accountability-responsibility way to The Messiah.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Janice in Westchester, New York. It’s great to have you on the program, Janice. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. Hi, Rush. I’m calling today to thank you very much for your show and your courage. You have become my educator. I was a Democrat, I must admit, for a very long time, and then an independent, and recently you have educated me a lot and really opened my eyes.

RUSH: Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I really do.

CALLER: So keep up the good work. And because of your show I took to reading a lot of books, and I did read Obama’s books, and I do agree with your stance of his agenda and his underlying anger. And I think you can get that feel from reading his books.

RUSH: It’s all there. I mean, people who have read his books are not surprised by any of this.

CALLER: No, they shouldn’t be at all, and I think that who’s going to be surprised is Congress, because from reading the book, I feel that eventually I think he’s going to work to even bypass Congress in many instances in getting things done. That’s my opinion. That’s how I feel, and that’s what I think. There is a pattern of this.

RUSH: He’ll do that when he wants. He’s also going to use Congress. He’s gonna slough off some controversial stuff to Congress so it doesn’t tie to him.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: He’s done a couple 180s on torture memo investigations. He first said, ‘We’re not going to look into Bush lawyers. We’re going to move forward. We’re not going to look past,’ and then somebody talked to him that night and the next day he said, ‘We are going to look into it,’ and then all hell broke loose again. So on the third announcement in two days, he said he’s going to turn it over to Holder —

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: — and Congress to look into it. So…

CALLER: But I think if they gave him a hard time, he’s just going to bypass them. They don’t realize that, I don’t think, at this point, personally. That’s my own opinion. But also your aspect of the emotional is very important, because the emotions are in the seat of the subconscious mind. And most people do not understand that when you are soliciting an emotion, you open the subconscious mind, and when once the subconscious mind is open —

RUSH: You’re exactly right, and that’s why I am not a prisoner of my subconscious because I have no emotion. I am dead reality based in there, total, a hundred percent.
