RUSH: Fort Worth, Texas, it’s Terry. It’s nice to have you with us on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. We love you here in Texas.

RUSH: Thank you. Thanks very much.

CALLER: It’s awesome to talk to you. I’m a first-time caller and a brand-new activist, and I’m a late 40-something so this is kind of new to me. I have a couple questions. One thing I really don’t understand, and another thing I’d love to get your version of, and it relates to GM and the state of Texas.

RUSH: Yeah?

CALLER: Rick Perry is going to have probably… I would bet a sonic boom on his hands if GM, who produces their SUVs only in Texas, decides to close that plant. What kind of sound waves can we expect around here if that kind of thing happens? I guess what I’m trying to say is, is Texas going to have any say in the way things happen with this new Obama world?

RUSH: No.

CALLER: No power? (garbled)

RUSH: No. Well, let me explain to you why. You are familiar with the stimulus bill, correct?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Are you aware that many governors have said they don’t want it all, or they’re only gonna take a portion or they don’t want any of it. Governor Sanford of South Carolina.

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: Governor Palin of Alaska. In the stimulus bill is a provision that if governors refuse… They have to take it all. They can’t cherry-pick and say, ‘We want this. We want that.’ They have to take every dollar allotted to them in the stimulus bill, Porkulus bill. If the governor refuses it, there is an unconstitutional statute in the bill that allows the state — directs the state legislatures — to take the money anyway over the opinion of the governors. Governors in the stimulus bill have been rendered meaningless.

CALLER: Powerless.

RUSH: You don’t even get to choose. Powerless. We don’t even need to have them. Now, the whole stimulus bill — and there’s a greater and greater consensus building on this. The whole thing, because of things like this in it which destroy the whole concept of federalism, is unconstitutional. But Obama and his people, they’re telling Democrat legislatures, even Republican-dominated legislatures, ‘If your governor doesn’t take the money, scram it.’ So if Obama is indeed going to make General Motors — and there’s a story in the stack today that he’s going to put more and more of his people on the GM board.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: We know that he doesn’t like SUVs. We know that the government and the left does not like these things, they don’t like people driving them. And we also know that the SUV and the truck lines are among the profitable vehicles GM is manufacturing. But GM, if Obama says —

CALLER: If they’re not part of the objective.

RUSH: What?

CALLER: SUVs, that’s like on the most-hated list, according to liberals.

RUSH: They…? What do you mean, they’re not part of the objective?

CALLER: Liberals hate SUVs.

RUSH: Right. They are part of the objective, to get rid of them.

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.

RUSH: Is what I mean.

CALLER: That’s what I mean. Okay. I understand.

RUSH: So if the Obama Motors board of directors tells GM to get rid of the SUVs, based on recent behavior of GM, I don’t think they’ll do anything other than say, okay. If that results in the closing of a manufacturing plant in Texas, and Obama said, more plants are going to close, and the new CEO said more plants are going to close — and Texas is a Republican state. And the way politics works, if you’re going to close a state and you’re a Democrat, do it in a Republican state. They’re not going to vote for you anyway. If it happens, you have chaos, and that helps! You have unemployment, you have a need for unemployment benefits and state assistance. All that —

CALLER: Which is what Governor Perry didn’t want to accept.

RUSH: Governor Perry doesn’t exist —

CALLER: Ugh! It’s just frustrating, Rush.

RUSH: — when it comes to the this. The point… Let me finish the point here. The point is, I don’t know if they’re going to close the plant. I have no clue. I just have to assume that they’re targeting SUVs. They want everybody in smaller cars, electric cars, hybrids. They’re going to have to get rid of the option of the SUV to force people into these little dirt bag cars.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: If he causes chaos and unemployment in a Republican state, that helps him. President Obama is about chaos. He’s about misery. He is about people being unsatisfied and frightened of the future, so that they will turn to him for the solution, not Governor Perry or Palin or Sanford.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, quick correction here because I didn’t know it. The White House is now acknowledging state legislatures cannot wrest control of stimulus money if a governor does not want it. The White House is admitting the stimulus bill is wrong in that, so the governors can decide not to take some of the stimulus money. Nothing can be done about it.
