RUSH: A lot of you people are objecting to my speculation Obama could reinstitute the draft. Who’s his chief of staff? Rahm Emanuel, right? Let’s go back to 2006, New York Daily News reporter Ben Smith talking to Rahm Emanuel. Smith said, ‘I meant to ask you about this universal service piece of the plan. Can you tell me about this? How’s it gonna work? Are people going to live in barracks?’

EMANUEL: Universal Civil Defense Training. We were saying somewhere between the ages of 18 and 25, you will do three months of training. There can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint similar experience of civil, uh, what we call civil defense training or civil service, uh, or some sense of service to country in preparation, which will give people a sense of what it means to be an American. We propose three months. If somebody says it should be four, I’m not going to sit here and (unintelligible)

RUSH: Democrat Party. He was a member of Congress, 2006, talking about a civil defense training program. Ben Smith said, ‘It’s a lot more than the US government asks of anybody right now.’

EMANUEL: You could do it through your state National Guard, could be the vehicle for that. You know, the goal here wasn’t to sit here and work on a piece of legislation for ya and all that, but that’s one way you’d be doing it.

RUSH: Obama’s talked about everybody having to go into service. This is, ladies and gentlemen, the chief of staff for Obama. If you think that it’s a stretch they might do something like this to create a whole bunch of, hundred thousands of new, shall we say federal employees, just remember this date, January 6, 2009, hot show, lots to learn here.
