A Democrat Caller for McCain

by Rush Limbaugh - Oct 30,2008

RUSH: We’re going to start with Long Island. This is Mark. Nice to have you, sir. I’m glad you waited. I appreciate your patience. Hello.

CALLER: Thanks for fielding my call, Rush. Rush, I’m a frustrated Democrat and I’m voting for John McCain. My dad campaigned for Jack Kennedy. I campaigned for Bill Bradley in 1984 when Ronald Reagan was the president. I have never seen a party be absolutely hijacked by Barack. This party once was a great party. It stood for helping people, and I still believe in that, I still believe that when people are out of work we should extend unemployment benefits to them and we shouldn’t provide for them, and that’s what Obama is all about, and if there’s any Democrats out there, hardworking Democrats like myself who can hear me, it’s time to vote for a guy like John McCain who’s actually worked with Democrats and has done something like working with Kennedy, working with —

RUSH: Exactly —

CALLER: — Feingold, working with Lieberman. Lieberman spoke to me, he spoke to me during the convention.

RUSH: Taking the words right out of my mouth.

CALLER: Let me tell you something —

RUSH: I mean seriously — (crosstalk) he can’t hear me because he’s using a cheap phone. Hello. Yeah.

CALLER: He is a moderate man, but the other reason, too, is because we have (unintelligible) of this country. And I’m telling you right now, could you imagine, could you imagine if back in the days of Watergate the press stopped — when the Republican talking points were it was a third rate burglary —

RUSH: Right, right.

CALLER: Nixon went down because he associated with —

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: — and (unintelligible).

RUSH: (imitating caller’s unintelligible call) I know, no question whatsoever, you’re taking the words right out of my mouth. For you old-line Democrats — God, I do this for the purposes of victory, please understand. I’m looking skyward. For you old-time Democrats, John McCain is certainly much closer to your Democrat heroes of the past than Obama is. I’d say that JFK and John McCain are much closer to each other than Obama is to JFK.
