RUSH: Now, ladies and gentlemen, I just became aware of something. This could be interesting. This could be very, very big — and it involves my congressman. Now, I want to take you back to the 2006 midterm elections. You, ladies and gentlemen, remember why those elections actually were lost is because of the word Macaca in the Senate by George Allen and Mark Foley — who was not our congressman; close by, but not our congressman. It was Mark Foley and the text messages to the pages, House pages. That allowed the Democrats and the media to talk about the culture of corruption that existed in the House of Representatives, how horrible it was. For six weeks it was Macaca and Foley, Macaca and Foley. Never-ending investigations. Try this.

This is from ABC News: ‘West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement, which involved Mahoney and his campaign committee. Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said. A Mahoney spokesperson would not answer questions about the alleged affair or the settlement, but said Allen resigned of her own accord and ‘has not received any special payment from campaign funds.’

‘Senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said. A spokesperson for Emanuel denies that account, but said Emanuel did confront Mahoney ‘upon hearing a rumor’ about an affair in 2007 and ‘told him he was in public life and had a responsibility to act accordingly.’ The spokesperson added that it was a ‘private conversation’ that had nothing to do with Mahoney’s re-election prospects.’ Now, ladies and gentlemen, was Rahm Emanuel involved in the hush money effort? Did the Democrats circle the wagons around Tim Mahoney in order to keep this news and the payment of $121,000 — the hush money payment of 121 grand — to the mistress quiet?

Did they circle the wagons and was Rahm Emanuel involved in this? Let us see (chuckle, chuckle) how aggressive the Drive-By Media is on this. Let’s see if they run story after story about this as they did with Foley. But here we actually have Emanuel named. He’s a top House Democrat, a big lieutenant to Pelosi. To what extent was he involved in this hush money and cover-up and who else knew about it? I’ll tell you this. We know that this is far more egregious and criminal than anything Foley did. Foley was sending text messages, pure and simple. This will continue to unfold before our very eyes and ears, at least it will here. This is from ABC News. We’ll see how eager they are to follow it up. This is my congressman, Snerdley. This is my congressman, having an affair, a year after he gets elected on the basis of some so-called sex scandal involving Mark Foley! Now he’s out there having an affair with a woman who was blackmailing him, threatening to sue him. So he pays her off, 121 grand, and all the Democrats can say is, ‘It didn’t come from campaign money, and we lectured him. We told him he’s gotta live a responsible life.’ Rahm Emanuel is named.

RUSH: Now, one other thing about this Tim Mahoney business. This infuriates me, over what happened in 2006. Get Macaca outta there, get Mark Foley outta there, neither of those two guys did anything that warranted the kind of investigation, the kind of intense scrutiny. Rahm Emanuel was all worked up about Mark Foley, if you remember, folks. He demanded an ethics investigation, the media joined in, they started shouting about the culture of corruption and all that. Now we have an accusation that Rahm Emanuel was involved in the cover-up of Congressman Tim Mahoney, Democrat, Florida, who paid $121 grand in hush money to a mistress who was threatening to sue him. Rahm Emanuel knew the money payments. We know the Democrat Congress won’t look into this, but now we shall see just how worthless the media are, as if we don’t already know, if they’ll keep this as a one-day flash-in-the-pan-story or if they’ll determine whether the House Democrat leadership was involved in the hush money. You know, it is interesting, somebody wrote over the weekend go back to Bill Clinton’s second term. And it was fascinating.

For a time, the Drive-Bys were actually obsessed with finding the blue dress and a cigar. Even though the blue dress and the cigar would provide problems for Bill Clinton, they couldn’t wait, they were discrediting everybody on the right in the process, but they were still desperate to get hold of that dress and the cigar. They wanted to find out what happened, probably so they could cover it up, but they still wanted to find out what happened. There’s no desire here to find out anything about Obama. All they want to do is cover up Obama. We will see if their salacious interests — well, hell, what am I talking about? We already know they had to be dragged kicking and screaming by the National Enquirer to the Breck Girl story. This is going to be a one-day flash in the pan and not even ABC’s going to take it much farther than this. What ABC will say, ‘Well, this doesn’t reach the threshold of continuing because he was reprimanded by the Democrat leadership.’ Then they’ll say the Republican leadership tried to cover up Foley. They tried to keep anybody from knowing it. We can say, ‘Well, the Democrat leadership knew of the hush money payment.’

What we want to know is did Emanuel suggest it? Did the Democrat leadership suggest this? We know they knew about it. Foley was never accused of paying anybody anything to buy their silence. This is far more serious than the Foley matter. Dennis Hastert, speaker of the House, he paid the ultimate price. He left Congress altogether. So you might want to say, what does Pelosi know? She’s supposed to know everything that goes on in there. If she knew nothing, how is that possible? Isn’t it her job to know, in an election year, who of her members are vulnerable? Damn well she knows this. You damn well straight know she has to know about this story. So you had a Republican Congress thrown out of there because it was said to spend too much. This Democrat Congress has spent hundreds of billions more than that Congress, they were thrown out because they were said to be steeped in corruption, yet this scandal is far worse than Foley. We shall see.
