CALLER: Thank you, Rush. A pleasure to talk to you.
RUSH: Yes, sir.
CALLER: I got an update on Michelle Obama. I guess he decided she’d served her penance and pulled the tape off her mouth, ’cause according to the North Carolina news network, at lunchtime today, she’s in Jacksonville, North Carolina meeting with some military families down there about the hardships they’re undergoing while their family members are deployed.
RUSH: Really? I haven’t seen the TV cameras there. I haven’t seen this. I’m not doubting you. I just haven’t seen any reports of this. I haven’t seen videotape of Michelle Obama meeting with grieving military families.
CALLER: Right. Well, I just heard that on the radio. I don’t know if it’s actual fact or what. I just heard Michelle Obama’s meeting with —
RUSH: What is she saying to them about the hardships that they’re undergoing while their family members are deployed?
CALLER: Well, I’m a 20-year military veteran myself, the Navy. And you know there’s hardships. Everybody knows that going in. I just figure they’re pandering to the military vote now.
RUSH: Well, they’re obviously pandering to it. I think they’re trying to go out and get some of it on the basis that there are some military people that are unhappy. We know that the left has been able to dredge up some military people who will profess to hate Bush and to sell whatever line that the Democrats want sold. My attitude about this is that military families know what’s ahead. They know what’s in store. A lot of military families have members who are veterans, who have already been deployed and have come home when another family member goes. So this is, to me, going to be very ineffective. This is typical liberalism. These people are victims. They’re victims and Michelle Obama is going to tell them that her husband will make their victim status all right.
