RUSH: Mary in Surprise, Arizona, welcome to the program. Nice to have you.

CALLER: Thank you, sir. I just had a quick comment. My senior citizen parents received a letter from their pension, union people and they told them that they needed to vote for Barack Obama because John McCain was going to tax their pension and take their money away.

RUSH: Well, just get ready because the next fundraising letter will say that John McCain is going to cut Social Security for old folks, crackers in Florida and is going to kick ’em out of their houses. It happens every four years, every presidential election, you get things like this, that McCain is going to tax the pension, take away the pension, take away Social Security.

CALLER: Well, I told them, I said, ‘Don’t you believe it. You don’t know anything about Barack Obama, and believe me, he’s trouble.’

RUSH: Well, what was their reaction to it?

CALLER: Well, my mother got a little quiet because I’m her daughter.

RUSH: Can I ask you to do me a favor?

CALLER: Sure.

RUSH: I want you to call your mother back when we’re through talking here, when you have time.

CALLER: Hm-hm.

RUSH: And I want you to ask your mom a question, because you said she’s a seasoned citizen.

CALLER: Yes, she is.

RUSH: Mom, you have been alive X-number of years, whatever it is. Every four years you hear this from the Democrats. You hear that old people are going to have their Social Security taken away, or that union members are going to be destroyed and their pensions taken away. Mom, have you seen it? Have you seen Republicans do that, ever?

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: And then she might say that she has seen it, whatever, be prepared. You’re the kid. She’s the adult.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: But be prepared to tell her, ‘Mom, it’s all lies, and it’s typical, every four years the Democrat Party lies.’

CALLER: That’s what I’m going to tell her. I’m going to call her today again and argue politics again.

RUSH: Is she liberal, Democrat?

CALLER: You know, she was a Reagan Republican. I remember, I was a kid back then —

RUSH: So what happened?

CALLER: I don’t know. It’s scare tactics, you know, and I know they’re struggling a little bit.

RUSH: I know exactly what happened. I know exactly what happened.

CALLER: Do you?

RUSH: What happened was the Drive-By Media —

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: — telling them that what they actually lived through in the eighties didn’t happen and then starting as they get toward retirement age, when the majority of what you got is going to come from the government, all they gotta do is scare your parents and people like them is to tell you that somebody’s going to take it away. And your parents and others can’t take the chance that it might be true. Where would they be? Well, look, you’re doing the Lord’s work out there. There’s always a point in our lives where our parents become idiots. They start out as idiots when we’re teenagers, then they get really smart when we’re in the twenties. When we get 55 or 60 we realize how stupid they are again.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yeah, it was a Joe Biden moment. It was a Joe Biden — I apologize to all you parents out there — it was a Joe Biden moment. Oh God, what have I done? Well, fix it tomorrow.
