RUSH: In Sarah Palin’s acceptance announcement speech last week with Senator McCain in Dayton, Ohio, she mentioned that even in difficulty, blessings are given, which, to me, is an interesting worldview. I phrase it a different way, but there’s always good in something that happens to you, if you just look for it. There always is something good. She says that even in difficulty, blessings are given, and people might have been thinking that was her Down syndrome child, might have been about her daughter’s child. But the point of it is to me that she sees this as a deeper opportunity to expand their love for this daughter and child, and just because there’s a family challenge, it’s not a reason to sidestep what they all think is her God-given duty to her country. She’s not that selfish. And the Drive-Bys, that’s one thing they can’t understand, somebody that doesn’t look at everything through a political prism, can’t understand somebody who is not career-oriented fast track selfish. Look, we have now learned, ladies and gentlemen, that McCain — they knew about the pregnancy. They just didn’t see the family issue as a deal breaker. The same thing as Joe Biden doesn’t see his son and brother being in trouble as a deal breaker to accept Obama’s nomination.
Where has this story been? The last thing I could find on it was August 24th in the Washington Post: ‘A son and a brother of Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.) are accused in two lawsuits of defrauding a former business partner and an investor of millions of dollars in a hedge fund deal that went sour, court records show.’ I’ve been missing the 24/7 discussion on this in the Drive-By Media. ‘The Democratic vice presidential candidate’s son Hunter, 38, and brother James, 59, assert instead that their former partner defrauded them by misrepresenting his experience in the hedge fund industry and recommending that they hire a lawyer with felony convictions. The legal actions have been playing out in New York State Supreme Court since 2007, and they focus on Hunter and James Biden’s involvement in Paradigm Companies LLC, a hedge fund group. Hunter Biden, a Washington lobbyist, briefly served as president of the firm. A lawsuit filed by their former partner Anthony Lotito Jr. asserts in court papers that the deal was crafted to get Hunter Biden out of lobbying because his father was concerned about the impact it would have on his bid for the White House. Biden was running for the Democratic nomination at the time the suit was filed.’ How come we haven’t seen a 24/7 expose of this? How come Biden’s family happens to be off-limits?
By the way, another question about Senator Biden. If plagiarism and being a bald faced-liar was sufficient to torpedo his run for the Democrat nomination against Dukakis back in 1988, why is it not sufficient to disqualify him for the vice presidency now? What’s the difference? You see the double standard. Three stories today, New York Times home page, the top-three stories on the Republican convention, New York Times home page, one: ‘Disclosures on Palin Raise Questions on Vetting Process.’ Number two: ‘In a Political Realm, Family Problem Emerges as Test.’ And number three: ‘Palin Daughter’s Pregnancy Interrupts Script.’ Somebody tell me, I don’t know, has the Times done a story on Obama and Bill Ayers yet? I don’t know because I don’t read the Times very often. I don’t think so. Have they done a story about Obama and Tony Rezko yet? Have they even reported on any news in the first place on the Washington Post report that Senator Obama pushed for $3.4 million in earmarks for a lobbyist who just happened to be Senator Biden’s son?
