RUSH: Toronto, Canada. Doug, it’s great to have you here, and welcome, sir.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. It’s actually Mike.

RUSH: It’s Mike. Are you in Toronto?

CALLER: Yes, I’m in Toronto, yes.

RUSH: Okay, cool. Well, I’m sorry about that. It’s my mistake.

CALLER: Ah, no problem. I’m calling because here in Canada, we don’t have a constitutional right to hold guns, but what we do have here, especially in Toronto, is a high gun crime rate. It’s something like a hundred murders a year here in the City of Toronto.

RUSH: Let me ask you a question. Are the gun crimes committed in Toronto committed by law-abiding citizens?

CALLER: No. None whatsoever.

RUSH: That was a facetious question.

CALLER: (laughs) Yeah, I figured that. And one of the common things we hear from our socialist mayor here is because of the Americans and your right to bear guns we have an inflow coming to Toronto from the states, and there’s a lot of stuff out there, like —

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, now. Because of our Second Amendment, a right to keep and bear arms, you have guns flowing into Canada from America?

CALLER: Yes, this is like the criminal aspect. The legal gun owners in the states, they lose their guns to home invasions, and those guns then get transferred here to Canada for re-trade, drugs for guns.

RUSH: Oh, I see. So our criminals are kind of stashing their stuff up there, and exchanging it for other criminal goods?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: And that means your criminals up there are getting our criminals’ guns?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: That’s what your liberals are telling you?

CALLER: That’s exactly they’re telling us. That’s just one of the things. I mean, there’s a motion here in our city council where they want to ban shooting ranges and gun clubs to stop gun crimes.

RUSH: They want to do what? They want to ban shooting ranges and gun clubs to stop gun crimes?

CALLER: Yes. It’s on the city council table right now.

RUSH: Well, there you go.

CALLER: That’s the talk right now.

RUSH: What kind of crime happens in a shooting range or a gun club?

CALLER: That’s my whole question there. I couldn’t tell you. And it’s just liberalism, right, to attack the good guys and not the bad guys.

RUSH: By the way, how’s your health care system working up there?

CALLER: Oh, it’s horrible. That’s another thing. And, you know, we have thousands of Canadians a year that go to The States to seek health care.

RUSH: Yeah, so while we’re sending you our criminals’ guns —

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: — you people are coming south of the border to get well! (laughing)

CALLER: Exactly, yes.

RUSH: Well, this is amazing. You guys, I know, a lot of Canada is just overrun with liberalism. In fact, the reason I asked you about the health care story is because I’ve got a story here from Investor’s Business Daily.

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: Great newspaper here in the states, ”Canadian Health Care We So Envy Lies In Ruins, Its Architect Admits’ — As this presidential campaign continues, the candidates’ comments about health care will continue to include stories of their own experiences and anecdotes of people across the country: the uninsured woman in Ohio, the diabetic in Detroit, the overworked doctor in Orlando, to name a few. But no one will mention Claude Castonguay…’ Am I pronouncing that right? C-a-s-t-o-n-g-u-a-y. How would you pronounce that as a Canadian?

CALLER: I’ve not heard of the guy. I wouldn’t be able to tell you.

RUSH: Claude Castonguay. Well, he’s ‘perhaps not surprising because this statesman isn’t an American and hasn’t held office in over three decades. Castonguay’s evolving view of Canadian health care, however, should weigh heavily on how the candidates think about the issue in this country.’ Anyway, he says it is falling apart. The Canadian health care system is not at all what it was envisioned when he started it. It has been bastardized. It cannot continue to function as it is currently constituted. It is effectively in ruins. What’s frustrating is liberals look to that and to Great Britain, which is in largely the same circumstance, our politicians do, and they want to import it. It’s the same with liberalism everywhere, Mike. Liberalism, socialism, wherever it’s been tried, the result has been mass misery, mass failure; and yet they seek to emulate it because they don’t care about that. They care about the power that being in charge of all this failure gives them. Thanks much for the call.
