Chaos has erupted in North Carolina — site of the next Democrat primary onMay 6. But this chaos features Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain versus North Carolina’s state Republicanorganization.

North Carolina Republicans have produced ads aimed at two Obama supporters running for governor. Along with the “G.D. America” clip of Reverend Wright, the ad features a photo of Obama with Wright. “He’s just too extreme for North Carolina,” the narrator says in the ad.

SoMcCain told the Drive-By Media reporters: “We asked them not to run it…I’m sending them an e-mail as we speak asking them to take it down.” Clearly irritated, McCain continued: “I don’t know why they do it. Obviously, I don’t control them, but I’m making it clear… there’s no place for that campaigning, the American people don’t want it.” Asked if he had actually seen the ad,McCain growled: “I didn’t see it, and I hope that I don’t see it.”

Senator Obama said he expects McCain to get North Carolina Republicans to pull the ad down “since he’s their standard-bearer.” But they aren’t backing down. They point out the ad targets thetwo local candidates, and it legitimately calls into question their– and Obama’s– judgment.

Senator McCain, you say you don’t know “why they do it.” Let me tell you why they do it:they want to win! The Obama/Reverend Wright relationship is a proper issue to place before voters. If Reverend Wright’s anti-American words come home to roost for Obama, so be it.It’s all “Wright” with me.
