RUSH: Lorraine X in San Diego. Hi, Lorraine X, welcome back to the e-mail.
CALLER: Well, Rush, how are you?
RUSH: I’m fine and dandy here.
CALLER: Good. We haven’t talked since the Clinton administration.
RUSH: Yeah. I remember that very well.
CALLER: And you know I was crazy about Bill. No more. Bill Clinton. I can’t stand Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton — and, by the way, I support Barack Obama, and I’m the biggest critic now, and let me tell you why. Now, with respect to this Geraldine Ferraro issue, Rush?
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: I am a very loyal Democrat, just like most blacks are in this country. I’m also very much involved in the party, particularly California Democratic Party structure, you know, getting involved and stuff; and I can tell you that there has always been a problem with racism with respect to African-Americans within the Democratic Party. Talk to any Democrat like me that’s involved in the party structure.
RUSH: Hey, Lorraine X?
CALLER: Mmm-hmm?
RUSH: I’m glad you’ve come around to this. This is what people like me have been trying to convince you of for the longest time, that the Democrat Party is the worst thing that ever happened to you.
CALLER: Well, let me tell you. I had to experience it, and I got involved heavy during the Clinton administration, so I’m speaking here from experience. And let me tell you: Rush, Geraldine Ferraro, she is a racist as far as many blacks are concerned — and she has a history of making racist statements about black men in particular that dates back to Jesse Jackson in 1984. But let me tell you, Rush. She is, Geraldine Ferraro, the quintessential angry feminist Democrat white woman, and you notice I didn’t say angry white woman. No, no, no. Because Republican women really don’t have a dog in this fight, but let me tell you. It is the angry feminist Democrat white woman who is lashing out, because they cannot stand the idea of a black man beating a white feminist Democrat white woman to the White House, and let me tell you…
RUSH: Well, wait a minute, Lorraine X.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm?
RUSH: I want to applaud you for reaching this very insightful conclusion. You gotta realize how frustrated I was talking to you back in the nineties, trying to get you to see things this way.
CALLER: Oh, absolutely.
RUSH: But look at what party it’s happening in. It’s the Democrat Party. It’s the Democrat Party that tells us we gotta have affirmative action. We gotta vault these people that are less qualified ahead of everybody else, but when it happens to them —
CALLER: Yep.
RUSH: — they’ve gotta step on the black guy.
CALLER: Absolutely. Look, I’m in my late thirties now so I really matured. But I’m gotta tell you, many younger black women like me, you know, we are mad as hell with the white feminist Democrat white women like Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro — and, you know what? We’re not going to allow them to attack Barack —
RUSH: Okay.
CALLER: — and get away with it.
RUSH: Okay. Question. They’re really not attacking him much. I mean, they’re starting, to but they don’t even have their whole feet in the water yet. They’re just toeing around here. But beyond all this, I got two more things for you because you said you’re really mad about Bill Clinton.
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: I want to get to that last. Obama leads in the delegates right now. Now, neither he nor Hillary are going to be able to get enough delegates to win the nomination before the convention.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: But Obama’s leading every which way, and by the time the primaries are over Obama’s going to have more delegates; he’s going to have more popular vote, and he’s going to have more states.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: If he doesn’t get the nomination, what are you going to do?
CALLER: Well, if he doesn’t get the nomination, I can tell you, a lot of the black — and, by the way, I’m going to be at that convention. (laughs)
RUSH: Are you a superdelegate?
CALLER: Well, no, no, but I am going to be there as a delegate and everything.
RUSH: Okay, so what are you going to do? If Obama doesn’t get it, what are you going to do?
CALLER: Well, if Obama doesn’t get it, you know, a lot of people talked about this 1968 — which I didn’t know a lot about I was too young for it — but it will probably be worse. But he’s going to get it, and here is why. You said that they hadn’t really started attacking him that much. Yes, they have. Hillary Clinton, when she came out and made that statement, talking about ‘meet me in Ohio,’ and the very next day, she came out and she became very uncivil when she said, ‘Barack is not qualified,’ and she was just making all these kinds of statements.
RUSH: That’s nothing. That’s nothing compared to what the Clintons can do.
CALLER: Oh. Absolutely.
RUSH: Lorraine X? I want you to look at me.
CALLER: Yes?
RUSH: I am warning you: You just made an error. You said he’s going to get it.
CALLER: Oh, yes!
RUSH: Well, you know the Clintons now. Do not think they think that. They are already talking about him maybe being qualified to be veep.
CALLER: Well, you know what, that’s true. But, see, a lot of the Democrats, though, a lot of the blacks that are in the party structure, you know, we’re very much —
RUSH: Lorraine?
CALLER: — aware of them, too.
RUSH: Lorraine? Don’t doubt me. We are talking the Clintons.
CALLER: Oh, they’re going to try to take it away from him. Listen. Listen to me. It’s no doubt, Rush, that they’re going to attempt to take it away from him.
RUSH: I’m telling you, they’re not going to just ‘attempt.’ You can’t assume, Lorraine X, as an Obama supporter, that they’re going to fail. You have to assume they’re going to succeed, and plan accordingly to stop it.
CALLER: Well, that’s what we’re doing.
RUSH: If she succeeds, if the Clintons succeed — if they have to create ’68 in Chicago all over again, they will do it. If they have to do things that cause Al Sharpton to show up and start ma’ching, they will do it.
CALLER: Well, it’s so bad, even —
RUSH: If there are bonfires set to protest this or that, they will do it. So my question — and I’ve got 30 seconds.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm?
RUSH: If Obama has this taken away from him by hook or by crook — superdelegates or what have you, at the convention — what are you going to do?
CALLER: Well, I think that that convention would probably be shut down. It will be that bad. There’s that much anger.
RUSH: What are you…? I’ve got 15 seconds. Please.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm?
RUSH: Pretend you’re not my wife for a second, and answer the question. What are you going to do if Hillary gets the nomination?
CALLER: If Hillary gets the nomination, me as a black, just like most blacks, we won’t vote for her. She’s finished. She cannot win without the black vote —
RUSH: Okay.
CALLER: — and she’ll lose.
RUSH: I knew that. I knew that.
CALLER: Mmm-hmm.
RUSH: I know that’s going to be the case. Will you not vote period, or will you cross over and vote for McCain?
CALLER: I think a lot of the blacks are like me, and a lot of African-Americans feel this way. They’ll probably not vote at all, or we’ll certainly consider John McCain, depending on whether or not he says the right things.
RUSH: Okay.
CALLER: But we will not vote for Hillary.
RUSH: All right. All right. Thanks very much. It’s great to hear from you again, Lorraine X.
