A Huckster Finally Sees the Light

RUSH: Here’s Don. Don’s in San Antonio as we start on the phones today. Nice to have you with us, sir. Welcome to Open Line Friday.

CALLER: Rush, second-time in a long time, my man.

RUSH: I appreciate that.

CALLER: Lookie here, I as a Huckabee supporter would like to apologize for you for all the other Huckabee supporters who happened to call you and call you a liar and everything. I thought one of the most brilliant dialogues that you had done in a while, was when you explained the very different types of conservatives that are found in America, and I think it opened the eyes of a lot of people. It helped me to see that, guess what? I’m a social conservative. That’s just how I am.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: And with that being said, I would like to know — and we’ll put a little caveat on this since you love golf like I do — do you think Huckabee can make a run like Tiger did in his match play from last week?

RUSH: And win the nomination?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: No.

CALLER: Somehow, some way.

RUSH: I think it’s too late. The delegate math just works totally against Governor Huckabee.

CALLER: I got you. I got you.

RUSH: Plus the money. You know, Huckabee has to be at the point now that he’s asking for scandal stories on himself. After the McCain scandal story, Huckabee said, ‘Why not me? Would the New York Times do a scandal story on me?’

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: (laughing) Huckabee has his supporters still, and he’s staying in this for his own reasons that I think have to do with having some say-so at the convention on things and maybe forging a path for future electoral office. Some people are starting to urge him to run for the Senate from Arkansas. I’m glad you saw the light out there. I’m glad I was helpful in illuminating the light for you — and thank God you could still use an incandescent because if you had to use a compact fluorescent, the light from those things is pretty harsh, and it might have looked ugly what I had said to you had you had compact fluorescents.
