RUSH: This is Sandra in Flemington, New Jersey. Nice to have you on the program.
CALLER: Hi, Mr. Limbaugh, how are you today?
RUSH: Fine. I’m very good, thank you.
CALLER: Well, I have to tell you, I had to call because I was listening to your program yesterday like I do every day, and I was having a really good time with the interview you were doing with the truck driver who watched The View at the truck stop, and one thing that really cracked me up was when you said something along the lines of, ‘If you see a Volvo in a truck stop parking lot go to the next truck stop,’ and I said, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, I drive a Volvo and I listen to Rush Limbaugh every day.’
RUSH: Yeah, but do you go to truck stops?
CALLER: No, I don’t.
RUSH: Well, you left that out of the equation.
CALLER: Ah. But I just wanted you to know that there are conservatives out here that drive Volvos, too.
RUSH: Well, does your husband happen to work in a dealership that sells them?
CALLER: No, he doesn’t.
RUSH: Okay, just checking to make sure you had total objectivity on the issue.
CALLER: No, this is my car, but why did you say that?
RUSH: I don’t know. I just like stereotypical humor, and Volvos, I just associate them with do-gooders and the libs.
CALLER: Oh, no. No, no. As I said to your screener, I said, I thought he was going to say Beamer, and the screener kind of went (gasping) it was a lot of fun. But I’m a registered nurse, I worked at the VA for many years, so all the good things you have to say about the veterans and the servicemen, they touch my heart, and I’d like to thank you for getting through the muck that the left news media gets out there every day so we can hear the truth, because it’s really important, because it’s so sad, Americans aren’t really listening. Some are, but there’s a bulk of them that aren’t.
RUSH: I know there’s a lot of muck, but we are making headway. Look, I appreciate that. I apologize for insulting you and your car. It was perhaps a weak attempt at stereotypical humor. It really is unfair to judge people by the cars they drive, that’s absolutely true, and I’ll try not to do that anymore in the future. (interruption) What do you mean, you have a Volvo? The thing you’re driving is a Volvo? It is? Your real car, the white thing that you drive, that’s a Volvo? I would have never known it’s a Volvo. See, that doesn’t count. I’m talking to Dawn here. She’s driving a new Cadillac this week. This is a four-door family sedan. It’s a CTS, right? Man, it’s a gorgeous car. I haven’t tooled around in it yet myself, but it’s going to be my turn soon. Thanks for the call, Sandra, appreciate it.
