RUSH: Here’s a story from the Charlotte Observer: ‘Four years ago, Aaron Polkey, an African American lawyer from Charleston, lined up behind,’ John Edwards, ‘but now he’s backing Barack Obama. ‘Edwards has already had his chance,’ Polkey says, ‘and Obama is a breath of fresh air.’ Defections like his are a big reason Edwards trails [Ubama and Hillary] not only among African Americans, but among all Democrats in’ South Carolina. So the news continues to be bad for every one of these nominees except Mrs. Clinton, who continues to skyrocket, being propelled and aided by sycophantic coverage in the Drive-By Media.

RUSH: Let’s go Cape Coral, Florida, since we’re on a roll here on the phones. This is Joe. Joe, welcome to the program, sir. Great to have you with us.

CALLER: Good afternoon, Rush. Mega dittos.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: About ten years ago you had an article or story on your program about Hillary Clinton’s drug task force being fined over $300,000 for not keeping proper records of all of her meetings.

RUSH: Yeah, that’s right.

CALLER: Why don’t we hear that, anymore? Everybody talks about Dick Cheney’s meetings. Nobody ever talks about Hillary’s.

RUSH: Of course not! Well, you mean in the Drive-By Media, the mainstream media — and they’re not going to. You know the fix is in here. She is their candidate.

CALLER: Absolutely.

RUSH: But I’m going to tell you, we’re not going to need these people. Look, folks, this is going to be a long path to defeating Mrs. Clinton and this health care proposal. As I said yesterday, it’s going to require going back to fundamentals. I opened the program today in a jocular mood. The jocular mood continues, but if I may get serious for a moment, simplicity is the simplest way to make a serious argument — and, as Shakespeare said, ‘Brevity is the soul of wit.’ There’s one word that we could boil all of Mrs. Clinton’s proposals and policies and all of the liberals’ proposals and policies down to, and that one word will tell us why we oppose all of them, the people and their policies. The word is ‘freedom.’ It’s just that simple. Liberalism and this current crop of Democrat candidates, is out to take as much day-to-day freedom from you as possible. We’re not necessarily talking about constitutional freedoms, just freedoms to live our lives. That’s the objective, and the simplest way to explain what they want to do to people is to simply use that word: ‘Freedom. Do you like it? Do you want to keep it? It’s threatened by today’s Democrats.’

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yuba City, California, this is Santos. Welcome, sir, to the EIB Network.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos and all that jazz.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: And God bless our troops serving around the world, including my brother and his son serving in the Middle East. Hey, Rush, my question is about Hillary’s health care plan. Now, she said that people making over $200,000 a year would have to pay some sort of penalty —

RUSH: Two-hundred-and-fifty a year.

CALLER: Okay, they’d have to pay some form of penalty and private health insurance is better than the government. My question is how is that even possible? I mean, she wants to take over the health insurance system because she said it’s broke. But private health insurance is still going to be better for some people? I mean, what chance does a poor sucker like me have of getting —

RUSH: Look, I understand the question. But this is why yesterday I said we’re going to have to go back to the fundamentals and explain the whole concept of liberalism, health care, and how the two relate to one another. Now, to state this in an understandable, simple way, Mrs. Clinton’s health care proposal contains a lot of danger. By the way, it’s designed to get people who don’t make $250,000 a year to support the whole plan, based on class envy. If your family has household income of $250,000 or more, and you go out and buy a health insurance policy that is better than what the government’s offering, you are going to pay a tax. That tax could be as high, I have seen in certain stories, as $60,000. You are going to pay a penalty for having a better plan than somebody else does.

Now, I understand you’re asking, ‘How can you go out and get a better plan? I thought there was only going to be one plan, the government plan.’ That’s the theory, but it never works out that way. What Hillary knows is that the wealthy are going to be able to go out and do whatever they want to do and get better coverage than what she’s going to offer. What you all ought to be realizing here is that Mrs. Clinton is admitting there’s going to be better coverage than what you are going to get. Forget the rich, forget the fact they’re going to pay taxes on it (although I’m not going to forget it,) but what you need to be realizing here is what Mrs. Clinton is admitting, that there’s going to be better plans that you can’t get. There’s going to be better coverage, better whatever, that you can’t get, probably better treatment, too, that you can’t get, even though the whole program is designed to fix everything that’s wrong with the program and the whole industry.

So I don’t know whether Clinton and her strategists understand this or not, but they have just admitted that they’re not going to fix this, and it’s not going to be any better than what you have. End up being worse, probably. Then you’re going to have to go out there, if you didn’t hear this yesterday, you’re going to have to go out there and you’re going to have to have health insurance to get a job interview. You hear that and you say, ‘What? How do I get health insurance without a job?’ Exactly! You go to your government health care center for it. The employer isn’t going to provide it under the Hillary plan. The government is, folks. Ha-ha-ha, bye-bye competition. So you’ve got to have your health insurance to get a gig. Now, she was asked about details. (doing impression) ‘Well, yeah, we have not had details yet. We envision this happening down the road. We’ll let the congressional committees work this out.’
