CALLER: Hello, Rush. How are you today?
RUSH: Fine. Never better. Thanks for the phone call.
CALLER: Oh, thanks for letting me call you. I do appreciate, and thank you for everything that you do. You’re like my mentor, my personal mentor.
RUSH: I understand that. I appreciate that.
CALLER: Oh, thank you. Were your ears ringing on Friday?
RUSH: Yeah, for a lot of reasons. (Laughing.)
CALLER: (Laughing.) I was talking about you Friday night because I went to eat at the Kobe Club down in New York.
RUSH: Oh, you went to the Kobe Club?
CALLER: Yes, I did.
RUSH: Did you like it?
CALLER: I thought it was fabulous. It was wonderful. Friday was my birthday.
RUSH: Well, now, wait a minute. You probably went to the Kobe Club because I had recounted my wonderful and fun experience there.
CALLER: That is exactly why I went to the Kobe Club.
RUSH: Well, I knew you’d like it. I knew you’d have a great time in there. It’s a steakhouse, but unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
CALLER: Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Wonderful atmosphere, and it was unique, and it was trendy, but it was comfortable, and it was —
RUSH: You know, that’s a good point. Too many restaurants these days you end up sitting on chairs that are no more than six inches wide and so forth. Your legs fall asleep — especially in New York, because they want to jam as many people into them as they can. Yeah, that’s a good point.
CALLER: Yeah. Those booths were really big. I like the big door you went in. I had to open it with two hands because it was so heavy.
RUSH: But that’s a design thing. They did it on purpose to keep the riffraff out. The riffraff are generally weak or drunk.
CALLER: (Laughing.)
RUSH: They can’t get in with two hands.
CALLER: They can’t get in.
RUSH: Yeah. Some restaurants actually have somebody stationed inside the front door to keep the riffraff out. In the case of the Kobe Club, they did it with the door, just make the door too heavy for the riffraff to open. That gives them protection and saves money. They don’t have to hire people like Wal-Mart.
