RUSH: Paul in Santa Barbara, California, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush.

RUSH: Hey!

CALLER: I tried to get through last Friday to make my annual contribution to your leukemia fund of a dollar for each of the stations, 497, I rounded it up to 500, and I would like to challenge others out there that listen to multiple stations to throw in a dollar for each station.

RUSH: Well, it’s a shame you missed it by a week. This is the guy who is traveling the country. He’s visiting every city where there is an EIB affiliate.

CALLER: That’s right — and sometimes in Mexico, even. You don’t have any affiliates down there.

RUSH: I know. We’ve got some pirate stations in Mexico.

CALLER: The last time I talked to you last fall was I was in Mexico, and I meant to tell you that it took me 28 hours to get back across the border. I got there Friday morning at ten and it was Saturday afternoon at two before I got across the border because — well, the documents weren’t right, and when I got the documents, it was just one page. And on one side of that page was my company name, (unintelligible) America and the address, my name and my home address and the description of the vehicle (unintelligible.) That was it.

RUSH: You haven’t learned anything. You did this the entirely wrong way. You tried to come in the legal way.

CALLER: Yeah, I know. The 28 hours that I was there they tell me that there’s at most ten per hour illegals cross at that same area.

RUSH: I know. One of them could have been you.

CALLER: Two hundred and eighty illegals come in while one fifth-generation American is trying to get back home. You know?

RUSH: Are you enjoying… (Laughing) Funny story. Are you enjoying Santa Barbara?

CALLER: Santa Barbara is beautiful, yes, absolutely.

RUSH: Where you going next?

CALLER: I’m going to Pendleton, Oregon, and Yakima, Washington.

RUSH: Oh, Yakima, Washington. You know, when you get to Yakima — let me tell you about Yakima, Washington, and this is a true story. Yakima, Washington, was the first city in America with 50-gallon trash cans that people could put outside in front of their house for the garbage guys to come pick up.

CALLER: Is that right?

RUSH: Yakima, Washington. Yeah, the big things that you need to put on wheels and roll out, they were the first ones to do that.

CALLER: Well, then on trash day, I’ll be sure and make a deposit.

RUSH: They’re very proud of it up there. Everybody’s gotta be known for something, and everybody has to be somewhere, and you’re going to be there. So you tell ’em we all said hi. Paul, this is great. He’s actually traveling the nation. He’s on 497. He’s got about 109 to go, something like that. Paul, how much time are you giving yourself to get this project done?

CALLER: Well, I’m going to keep this job traveling around the country in this mobile design center for another six or seven years, and hopefully in that time I can get all those stations. It’s getting harder and harder to get them because, you know, I’ve been to all the popular ones, and all the —

RUSH: Now, now, now, now, now! Don’t go there! See, what he’s saying is, he’s got a business. He’s in a mobile demo van, and he’s been to the big cities. That’s what he’s saying.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: They’re all important, Paul, and they all have Americans in them, and they all have customers. Yeah. (Laughing.) You might not have any business in Odessa, Texas. There may be places you don’t have business, who knows? It’s a great thing that you’re doing. Thanks so much for your donation, by the way, to leukemia and lymphoma. We appreciate that as we do everybody’s. It’s great to hear from you again, too.
