RUSH: The mystery creator of the anti-Clinton ad has been ID’d. I told you people it had to be a Democrat, and it was somebody tangentially working on the Barack Obama campaign. I told you this guy was a Democrat, and I’ll tell you why I knew it was a Democrat. A, you put BarackObama.com in the exact font at the end of that commercial.

We’re talking about the remake of the 1984 Apple Macintosh commercial that ran in the Super Bowl in 1984 that obliterated Hillary Clinton in the middle of a monologue while she’s supposedly having a conversation. But the first telltale sign to me that this was a Democrat, was that the ad did not attack her policies per se. It just attacked her. It attacked her technique and her style, but didn’t go after her policies. If a Republican had put this ad together, then I think it would have been more of a little slash-and-burn on her policies. Democrats are only going to go so far.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: ‘The mystery creator of an Orwellian YouTube ad against Hillary Rodham Clinton is a Democratic party operative who worked for a digital consulting firm with ties to rival U.S. Senator Barack Obama. Philip de Vellis, a strategist with Blue State Digital, acknowledged in an interview he was the creator of the video, which portrayed Clinton as a Big Brother figure and urged support for Obama’s presidential campaign. De Vellis said he resigned from the firm Wednesday after he learned he was about to be unmasked by the HuffingtonPost.com, a liberal news and opinion Internet site. Blue State designed Obama’s website and one of the firm’s founding members, Joe Rospars, took a leave from the company to work as Obama’s director of new media. The connection to the campaign is likely to be a setback for Obama…’

Why? Why in the world would this be a setback? It was a good ad. What in the world is a setback about this? I don’t get the conventional wisdom on this.

‘The connection to the campaign is likely to be a setback for Obama, who has cultivated an image as politician who wants to rise above bare-knuckle politics. ‘It’s true … yeah, it’s me,’ de Vellis said Wednesday evening.’ It was a great ad. These people are going to have to get real. Here’s the bottom line, though. You mess with Mrs. Bill Clinton, and you watch out. This cost this guy his job, and if you read to the end of the story — remember the conclusion if you’ve read Orwell’s 1984? The conclusion is this: it’s not enough to obey Big Brother, you must love Big Brother. The main character, after being tortured into turning on his true love, sat in the shop confessing his love for Big Brother. Let’s go to the end of the story here from AP. Philip de Vellis: ‘This blew up much much more than I ever thought it would. I want to make it clear that I don’t think that Hillary Clinton is Big Brother or a bad person or anything.’ (Gasp!) You gotta love Big Brother. You just can’t obey, you have to love Big Brother — and you have to witness to this, and so Philip de Vellis has now closed the loop and finished the circle here on his own ad (laughing) because you mess with Mrs. Bill Clinton? Watch out!
