From the Washington Times: “One year ago, this Security Council was divided between those who wanted to appease Saddam Hussein and those who wanted to hold him accountable,’ Mr. Zebari said dispassionately in an address to the 15-member council.

“‘The U.N. as an organization failed to help rescue the Iraqi people from a murderous tyranny that lasted over 35 years, and today we are unearthing thousands of victims in horrifying testament to that failure… The U.N. must not fail the Iraqi people again.'”
The UN passed 17 resolutions and did diddly squat. Let’s not forget the fact that certain UN members benefited handsomely from the oil-for-food program, as corrupt as anything that did not have a U.S. congressman attached to it. The French and the Germans and others did business with Saddam and didn’t want him deposed because he owed them a lot of money. They had an ongoing financial relationship with this madman, and they set aside the well-being of the Iraqi people because of it.

But you can’t leave out America’s Democrats in this. John F-ing Kerry, Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton, virtually every Democrat, even Lieberman, even the hawks, if there are such things in the Democratic Party, are still saying, “Go to the UN, go to the UN, go to the UN, trust the UN, trust the UN, trust the UN, put the UN first, subordinate our national security to the UN, subordinate world security to the UN, we must have internationalism, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” Well, the people of Iraq have just stood up and said we’re done dying because of the UN. 30,000 million of us are dead because of the UN and we’re not going to die anymore for the UN. We’re through dying for you. You can play your petty political games all you want after we get our situation resolved, but you participated in our slaughter by sitting back and letting it happen.

Now, this is not going to sit well with people like John Kerry and Howard Dean and the others who run around and say the UN can do no wrong, the UN rules.
