Stop and think about this from the standpoint that the term “special interests” is used by people in government, who want to demonize all of you in these organizations from the ACLU to the NRA. Voters call people working for change in government “lobbyists,” not “special interests.” This CFR bill wants to stop your right to tell your representatives how to represent you! They want to be in charge of what they do, which is why Jerry brought up this notion of publicly financed campaigns – namely, putting the elected in charge of who runs.
The term “special interests” is just an effort by people in government to demonize you. If you want to try to change government, you’re an evil special interest! That’s not something to be demonized. Actually, trying to change the government to better reflect the good in life is something to be applauded. I dare say, maybe even celebrated.
