RUSH: Do you know that…? I meant to mention this earlier, and I don\u2019t have the details right in front of me. I am a finalist… Get this now. I am a finalist in the award for Children\u2019s Author of the Year. Is that not cool? Who would have ever thought that? It\u2019s given out in May, and I know a little bit more about this than I\u2019m saying here because I don\u2019t know how much I should say. It\u2019s voting process and all that. <\/p>\n

<\/a>But, I mean… Well, I guess I\u2019m really proud here, folks. The last thing I ever thought is this. Can you believe it, a children\u2019s author award finalist? Me, El Rushbo? But that\u2019s what happens. We have a direct line, direct access to young skulls full mush, because you do it with an uplifting, positive, encouraging message. You know, that takes me off on another tangent here. I ought to make a note and come back to this later. <\/p>\n

Encouragement. There\u2019s not enough of that going on. There\u2019s not enough inspiration or inspiring going on culture-wise in our society. There\u2019s too much pessimism, victimization, too much explanation, justification for failing. There\u2019s no inspiration; there\u2019s no encouragement; there\u2019s no pushing people. At least not as much. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean, was I kidding about it? I wasn\u2019t kidding about it. What, you can\u2019t believe it? I\u2019ve been nominated. I\u2019m one of the finalists for an award. People like me don\u2019t get awards. People that actually do shows with audience don\u2019t get awards. But I\u2019m up for an award, best children\u2019s author. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/map>\n<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t think of the name of the organization, it\u2019s big. I\u2019m a finalist. I wasn\u2019t kidding about it. I wouldn\u2019t make something like that up. I mean, I was shocked and stunned, but I thought it was fabulous, too. I mean, who would have ever thought, just two years ago, who would have ever thought, if you\u2019d have told somebody I\u2019d be nominated for best children\u2019s author, ho, right, what are you smoking? And here it is. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Does anybody know if Ronan Farrow<\/a> has written a children\u2019s book? ‘Cause if he has, I don\u2019t have a chance. But if he hasn\u2019t, I could be in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Joseph in Gainesville, Florida, is next. He\u2019s 11 years old. Hi, Joseph. I\u2019m glad you called. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m good, Rush. I just wanted to talk about your new book.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. I\u2019ll talk about that any time you want.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it\u2019s going to be a smash hit, and I hope you make a third.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, gee, here we go. (laughing) How about two more, Joseph? How about if we did two more?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That would be phenomenal, great. Or three.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Three more? He wants three more. Well, you never know, Joseph. I\u2019m just glad you like the one that\u2019s out, and I can\u2019t tell you how much. The new one is out on Tuesday, March the 11th, and the first one was good. You liked the first one, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I loved it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s tough to say. Books are like your kids. You can\u2019t say you like one more than the other, but this one… I mean, the second time you do something you hope it gets better. This is as good, maybe better in some places. I think you\u2019re going to really like the next one, Rush Revere and the First Patriots.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Really?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah. You\u2019re gonna love it. It\u2019s available for pre-order now<\/a>. It comes out next Tuesday, and it\u2019s got same cast of characters, but there\u2019s a whole bunch of really neat twists in this one. If you liked the first one, I guarantee you you\u2019re gonna love this one.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm. I liked it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In fact, I tell you what. Joseph, have you heard the audio version of the first book?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I want to send you the CDs. I want to send you the audio version of the first book — and since you are so well spoken and so polite and so nice, I want to send you an autographed copy of the next book.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, my gosh! Really?<\/line><\/p>\n
