RUSH: Western Pennsylvania. Hi, Greg. It\u2019s great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Mr. Limbaugh. I\u2019m really honored that I had a chance to get through to you and talk to you. I wanted to say publicly an apology to you. For years, working under innuendos and false assumptions, I thought you were a political mouthpiece for the Republicans. And I refused to listen to you because I was born and raised a staunch Democrat. But in the last year, I started to listen to you — give you a chance, so to speak — and I found that you\u2019re neither Republican or Democrat or libertarian, whatever.<\/p>\n

I find out that you\u2019re a spokesperson for the truth. And I wanted to give you my apology for being an uninformed person that listened to the dogma for too many years. And I would not miss your program for the world at any time. And I wish every American in this country could tune in to you and listen to what you have to say, because you have the sound bites and the information to prove every point that you\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What was it…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I just wanted to say, “I apologize to you, Mr. Limbaugh, for being so stupid.”<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: No, but… It\u2019s very nice, your characterization. I appreciate it very much — i.e., the truth is what we do here — but I\u2019m curious. What was it, do you recall? Was it a single event or was it a series of things or a progression that made you abandon your belief in the dogma?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, yes. I\u2019ll be honest to say, I voted for Obama twice out of the belief that the Republicans didn\u2019t have anybody better to offer. And, you know, I was wrong about that. To answer your question, I started listening one day and I said, “I\u2019m just gonna listen to what he has to say,” and I was impressed with the sound bites that backed up your position. It wasn\u2019t that you were a spokesperson for the Republicans or libertarians or whatever. It was the truth, and I was impressed. <\/p>\n

So I listened one day, and I automatically tuned in the next day. And I found out over the last whole year, “It\u2019s like, this man talks the truth every day. I wish to God that my friends could listen.” I have my mother listening now. I have other friends listening. I\u2019m constantly promoting you to everybody, and I wish I could see you on TV every night, you know, with these sound bites and everything you have to say, because it is the truth, and I really appreciate that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I really appreciate that however you came to it, whatever the catalyst was. Do you remember how long it took you? Whatever it was that… I mean, you just decided one day to listen, without prejudice, and it worked. It\u2019s an ongoing challenge here, to try to reach people like you were reached. You made our day here. I can\u2019t thank you enough. (interruption) Well, that\u2019s right. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s two days in a row that we\u2019ve had two Obama voters call in and say that they\u2019ve changed their minds, but that\u2019s just anecdotal. Two people. We\u2019ll take it. It\u2019s great. I very much appreciate, Greg, your perception, \u2019cause he\u2019s absolutely right. We have a relentless, unstoppable daily pursuit of the truth here. And I do happen to be a conservative to boot, so you get an added bonus. <\/p>\n
