CALLER: Thank you very much, Mr. Limbaugh. I appreciate you taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I actually was calling in to say I very much have enjoyed both of your books, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims and Rush Revere and the First Patriots<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RUSH: God bless you. Thank you so much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am a first grade teacher, and I am in the process right now of reading the first one to my class.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you really?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Every day they ask if they can see what Liberty is up to today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing).<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s really great. I can\u2019t get through more than a few pages a day because they are first graders, they have about the attention span of a gnat. I have had to do a lot of explanation. I have made sure to point out that the historical figures are real people and the basis for the starting of our country —<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: That is great. That\u2019s absolutely terrific, because you are the authority figure to those children in that class. If you read them the book in excerpts and then you back up what\u2019s in the book, they are going to take to it. That\u2019s a real service that you\u2019re doing. I can\u2019t thank you enough. We really appreciate that. That\u2019s awesome that you\u2019re doing that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I absolutely appreciate it. I was just telling the gentleman who answered the phone that I just finished reading the second book, and thought it very clever how you integrated the Obama administration into this version of the book.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Shh. Because the Obama administration is not mentioned in the book, is it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, not specifically.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not specifically, not even close. Shh!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ohhh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, but I quote: “The colonists have no idea what is best for them.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hang on now, look, Kathleen, don\u2019t hang up, don\u2019t go away.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Back to Kathleen in Farmington, New Mexico. Now, what you were sharing with the audience there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/map>\n<\/p>\n

RUSH: The colonists had no idea what\u2019s good for them. You are reading from one of the most — to me, one of the most challenging to write for 10- to 13-year-olds and one of the most fun challenges. Rush Revere gets in to see King George III and ask him why he\u2019s doing what he\u2019s doing for the colonists. That\u2019s what you\u2019re referring to, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I make it plain that you won\u2019t find in these books anywhere “liberal,” “conservative.” You won\u2019t find the terms.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You won\u2019t find “Republican” or “Democrat.” You won\u2019t find anything that\u2019s overtly political, but, clearly, as you have spotted, there are lessons to be taught here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Real life, without labels.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hm-hm. Yeah. When I was reading that I told my husband this just sounded exactly like what Obama\u2019s doing to us. “I want them totally dependent on me for everything.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. They don\u2019t know what\u2019s good for them. They\u2019re just a bunch of serf sloths.<\/p>\n

CALLER: “I know better what they need than they do.” And that brings me to Obamacare. It scares the heck out of me because I am permanently disabled, and yet I still work full time because I can\u2019t qualify for disability. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute, now. You\u2019re permanently disabled but you don\u2019t qualify? Alcoholics qualify for disability.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I understand that. I am the carrier of my insurance for my family, and if I don\u2019t work, I don\u2019t have insurance.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have two pulmonary diseases, and you have to be out of work for X-number of months before you can qualify for disability. I am on two medications that together would run about roughly $8,000 a month if I didn\u2019t have insurance. And that\u2019s only two of about the 10 that I\u2019m on.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: You\u2019re probably living in a little bit of fear that your policy\u2019s gonna be canceled on you anyway, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you know, being a public school employee at this point in time we have not gotten any word that it\u2019s going to be, but I have no doubt it\u2019s just a matter of time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, are you a member of the teachers union, the NEA?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I am not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. You would have been gold if you were NEA.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you still may be, you still may be. But, look, are your students, do they know about the Children\u2019s Book Awards <\/a>that they can vote in?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. I have not brought that up to them yet, but I do plan on doing that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, you\u2019ve got until May the 12th for that, so there\u2019s no rush, quote, unquote.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The teacher in me also wants to let you know that your editors missed a typo in the book.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That wasn\u2019t us. That was the publisher.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, your publisher missed a typo in the book.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Where, which book?<\/p>\n

CALLER: In the new one, First Patriots on page 197.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Don\u2019t tell me what it is. I\u2019ll go find page 197 after the show and I\u2019ll look at it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And somebody\u2019s gonna pay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s very subtle. My husband read it a couple of times and he didn\u2019t notice it, either.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you might just be nitpicking.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, no. (laughing) I had to read it several times, too, and I realized that, no, that was a typo.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Is it a typo or is it a grammatical?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a grammatical error between the word “it” and “if.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Between what?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Between “it” i-t, pronoun, inanimate object, and “if”, i-f.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I-f. I\u2019m a stickler for that, too. Okay, well, I\u2019m glad you pointed it out. We might be able to correct that for the e-book version, \u2019cause you can update those. I\u2019ll put an asterisk by it: Nitpicked by Kathleen in Farmington, New Mexico. ‘Cause you can do that in the e-book, too. Well, look, I appreciate the call. I really do. The fact that you\u2019re reading the book to the kids, you\u2019re vouching for it and that\u2019s just fabulous. You know, I tell you what, Kathleen, don\u2019t hang up, \u2019cause I want to send the audio versions to you, too. Mr. Snerdley will get her address, and ask her what color iPad Air she would like.
