CALLER: Hi, Rush. I just wanted to let you know that I bought your book for my kids. I knew they would hear the truth, and they kept talking about it. So I thought, “Well, I\u2019ll read it too.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, how old are your kids?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, my kids are 12 and 13.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Perfect. Right in the target zone.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And you and I are about the same age.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My kids are adopted.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/map>\n<\/p>\n

CALLER: And they kept talking about this book. So I thought, “Well, what the heck? I\u2019ll read it, too.” But I always figured I had a pretty good, sound education and didn\u2019t think I would actually learn anything.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. You figure it\u2019s a book for kids, so what are you gonna get out of it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, and I was shocked when I read that they had started out their community with everyone owning everything and everybody being the same.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Yeah, they don\u2019t tell you that the original Plymouth Colony failed as a socialist enterprise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, and it just brought chills because I had just wrote a book for my kids, and that was something that was included in it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, I wasn\u2019t taught that, either.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had never heard that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I didn\u2019t learn that until I started researching it in the early nineties for something else I was doing. I didn\u2019t learn the real truth of the story of Thanksgiving until I was 40. I didn\u2019t learn about the original Plymouth Colony failing as a socialist enterprise until I was in my forties. I wasn\u2019t taught that, either.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s so hard now to get a book for the kids that they can understand, but that is one.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. It\u2019s not hard now. Since I have written two, it\u2019s easy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims<\/a>, and Rush Revere and the First Patriots<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a real easy read. I think I read through it in, like, three or four hours.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Well, that\u2019s about how long it took me to record the audio versions.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re about the same age, so that would work out.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But the kids kept talking about it, and, like I said, when I wrote my book, I thought, “Well, doggone it. I had no idea that that was in there,” and it was something that I wanted my children to read.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019ve mentioned twice that you wrote your book. Are you a famous author?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, heavens no.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I just wrote a book and published it for the kids, my kids and the families, because I didn\u2019t like what they were learning.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I wanted to make sure and just put it in the field.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Amen. That is why I wrote these and am writing these. Do you have one or two? You have both books, or just the first one?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, both. Well, the first one, I\u2019m going to give to my daughter\u2019s grade school. She\u2019ll go into junior high next year, and they both read it, and so I\u2019m gonna go ahead and do that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s great.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Her teacher expressed interest in it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, cool.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I thought, “Well, I\u2019ll just go ahead and give it to her.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. I\u2019ll tell you what I\u2019m gonna do, then. I want you to hold on, because I\u2019ll send you a replacement copy that I will sign to you, and I\u2019ll send you another, a new version of the second book, Rush Revere and the First Patriots<\/a>. And I\u2019ll send you audio versions of both, which is me reading them. Your kids would probably enjoy experiencing the books that way, too, after they\u2019ve read them. <\/p>\n

‘Cause I do it really good, if I say so myself. But I\u2019m gratified. This is great, and you\u2019re right. I didn\u2019t know a lot about the Pilgrims. I wasn\u2019t taught a lot of things that truthful about the founding of the country and the Pilgrims and all that. The Boston Tea Party is the second book. So, Joanne, thank you.
