Again this from the Spokane, Washington, Spokesman Review. “With the news this week that more than 600,000 Washington residents have acquired new health care plans through the state exchange, US Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers said itÂ’s unlikely the Affordable Care Act will be repealed.”

Well, slavery was repealed. Prohibition was repealed. Why not Obamacare? “Well, it’s an entitlement, Rush, and we’ve never repealed an entitlement.” Well, I know, but people are only now starting to realize how bad this is. Why didn’t we just reform prohibition instead of repeal it? Why didn’t we just reform slavery instead of repealing it? But somehow we can’t repeal it. You know, the Republican Party, I must tell you, I guess I am a little surprised. Even though I’ve said to you what I’ve said, I guess I miscalculated just how shell-shocked they really are.

I mean, I’ve known they’re shell-shocked. I have known that they’re suffering posttraumatic stress disorder. I have known all of that, but I had no idea how bad it really is. This immigration, forget Obamacare for a second. This pledge to get immigration done by August, are they trying to sabotage their own efforts to win the Senate and hold on to the House? I have here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers — look, I know. Ruling class, establishment, I’ve said it all myself. I just… you know me, I’m an eternal optimist. I hold out hope that somewhere there is an opposition party or that there is, within the Republican Party, some opposition besides the Tea Party.

Washington Post: “Why Immigration Reform IsnÂ’t The Answer To RepublicansÂ’ Demographic Woes.” This is stunning that the Washington Post would publish this. “So, how can the GOP start winning larger shares of non-white voters? Reforming the immigration system might not be the answer. Why not? Because reforming the nation’s immigration laws could very well create a whole bunch of new Democrats, including in some key swing states.”

The hell you say. The Washington Post is saying this! You and I have been on this tear for months, bordering on years now. It’s only common sense why the Democrats want amnesty. They need a permanent underclass. They need to register new voters. They’ve got all the evidence that arriving immigrants are people that believe in Big Government and are more inclined to vote Democrat than Republican. We’ve known this. This is statistically shown. There’s been no question about it.

It’s not a debatable answer and it’s always been curious — why are the Republicans falling for this? From the Jeb Bush wing of the party to the Karl Rove wing, any number of wings, there is this belief that the Republicans are never gonna win the White House unless they do something about the Hispanic vote. And then they have been convinced that the only way to get the Hispanic vote is to support and be responsible for and be seen as eagerly supporting and in love with amnesty. And the Democrats have been telling the Republicans, too, “You’re never, ever gonna win the White House unless you get it right on immigration,” as though the Democrats are interested in us winning the White House again. So the Washington Post, it may as well be Harry Reid that’s come out here warning the Republicans. I mean, this is incredible. </line>

Let’s break it down. This is from the Washington Post story: “If many of the Hispanic non-citizens across the country became voting eligible citizens through immigration reform, some of those states become much more interesting politically. Take Texas, where only 22% of voters were Hispanic, but they make up 37% of the total population of the state.

“The pattern is similar in Arizona, where 17% of voters were Hispanic but they accounted for 29% of the total population.” In other words, if illegal aliens get amnesty, more Hispanics will vote and they will swing Texas and other states into the Democrat column. Now, the Washington Post reports this today as though it’s news to them, as though they’ve just hit on something. This has been common sense for years. (interruption)

Well, I know our own people dispute it. It’s not disputable! This is indisputable, what’s gonna happen here. But the Republicans have got themselves believing that they lost in 2012 because of Hispanics, and they’re never gonna win again unless they do amnesty. I… I… This is Twilight Zone stuff here, and with the Washington Post even issuing a warning to the Republicans! That’s alternative universe stuff as well.</line>

Yet the Republicans are plowing straight ahead. In fact, let me find the sound bite, because I’m scattered all over the place. Maybe you guys can help me. Does one of you up there know? It’s the one where Mitt Romney may run again if Jeb Bush doesn’t. Is that a sound bite or is it not a sound bite? Did I read that somewhere? I don’t know. Too many things on the desk.

(interruption) Yeah, I can’t find the sound bite either. (interruption) Oh, it is a sound bite? It’s Bob Schieffer. Grab it. It’s number 20. It’s Bob Schieffer. Let me see if I can find the sound bite just so I have the transcript. Sorry about this, folks. This is Slay the Nation. Bob Schieffer is talking to the Washington Post political correspondent Nia-Malika Henderson.

SCHIEFFER: You know, uh, uh, getting back to Republican politics, uh, Jeb Bush is apparently now thinking about running.</line>

HENDERSON: (chortling

SCHIEFFER: And, you know, I have a source that told me that if Jeb Bush decides not to run, that Mitt Romney may actually try it again.

HENDERSON: Huh!

SCHIEFFER: They’re very concerned that the party is not moving forward, that the party has moved so far to the right that, you know, they can’t elect a presidential candidate.

HENDERSON: Right!

RUSH: Do you know what that means? That means if Jeb Bush doesn’t run, that Romney’s thinking of going again to make sure that the conservatives don’t get the nomination. Now, Romney has already demonstrated he knows how to lose. The Republicans have already tried Romney and Romney lost, and they’re thinking of doing it again if Jeb doesn’t go (this according to Bob Schieffer, now), because they have got to stop this suicidal move to the right the Republican Party is making.

Except it isn’t making a move to the right!

Where is the evidence?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Sue in St. Charles, Illinois. Good to have you. Glad you waited. Welcome to the program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. Giga dittos.

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you very much. Appreciate that.

CALLER: Okay. So you were talking about the immigration reform and how it’s gonna fall on the Republicans. I think it’s gonna be bad, because imagine this. You’re here illegally, you’re working for not a lot, but you’re working for cash. And once you get the opportunity to become legal, guess what? You gotta pay taxes. You’ve gotta buy Obamacare. You won’t be able to afford your job anymore, or your employer won’t be able to afford to hire you anymore, and we’re not just talking about people from south of the border. How about all those oriental restaurants who have a lot of illegal people doing the serving there.

RUSH: Well, they’re made to order. This is all made to order for the Democrat Party, is what you’re saying.

CALLER: Stay illegal.

RUSH: Well, they’re all made to order for the Democrat Party. I mean, if they can’t afford Obamacare, fine, here it is, we’ll give it to you. We’ll subsidize you or what have you.

CALLER: Yeah, I suppose. So what about the taxes? Oh, yeah, and they’ll be subject to a minimum wage and everybody’s trying to get minimum wage to be higher? There are a lot of companies whose main employees —

RUSH: Well, we’ll think about this. I’m glad you called.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I’m still trying to figure out what Sue’s point was. As I understand it, Sue thinks, from Illinois — by the way got Illinois news here in a minute, hang on. She was making it sound like that in her opinion, once the illegals become legal, they’re gonna find out how much being a citizen sucks and they’re not gonna like it. They’re gonna have to pay taxes. They’re gonna have to all of a sudden come out of shadows. I mean, everything’s on the books and subject to the law. They have to have Obamacare or pay a penalty and they have to do this and they have to do that and they’re not gonna like it, and that there’s gonna be a backlash.

But I didn’t get from her who she thinks is going to suffer the backlash, Republicans or Democrats. The problem with that thinking is that people who make low income don’t pay taxes; they get money back. They have the earned income tax credit. They are net tax users, not taxpayers. They get money back from the tax system. They don’t pay into it. The earned income tax credit is one way. There are other redistribution schemes that the Democrats have enacted.

The newly legalized illegals will be eligible for Medicaid, heavily subsidized Obamacare, Section 8 housing. I mean, they’re made-to-order wards of the state. They’re made to order Democrat voters. You talk about the red carpet being rolled out. If amnesty happens they’re gonna be, for a while, the most privileged citizens that we’ve got. The Democrats are gonna be celebrating. The Republicans are gonna be competing with Democrats to celebrate them. They’re gonna telethons for ’em, prizes, any number of things. Free homes to win here, free car to have there, welcome to America, this kind of thing. “Aren’t we great, look what we’ve made possible for you?”</line>

It’s going to be a big contest between the Republicans and Democrats to welcome these people into the system. Have you thought about that angle of it? Think about the day after amnesty. Think about where the Democrats are gonna be. They’re gonna be wherever they think the shadows are to welcome people walking out of it, greeting them with handshakes and checks and who knows whatever else. “Welcome to America,” they’re gonna say. “We made it possible.” And right next to Harry Reid’s gonna be John Boehner. Right next to Boehner is gonna be Jeb Bush.

I mean, there is gonna be a mad dash here wherever the shadows are for these people to be greeted so that proper credit can be given for having made it possible. Am I wrong? (interruption) I mean, as long as we’re thinking about this, both parties are gonna vie for it. The credit is gonna go to the Democrats, because you’re asking me who’s the media gonna give credit. The media is gonna give credit to the Democrats.

The Republicans are always gonna be portrayed as they didn’t really want to do it but they saw it was the only way they would ever, ever have a chance of winning the White House again. They begrudgingly met with the new arrivals out of the shadows with the Democrats, but they really didn’t want to be there, this kind of thing. You know it and I know it. No matter what the Republicans do. The Republicans can be single-handedly responsible for making it happen, and it’s gonna be reported they did it with clenched teeth, with their hands tied or fingers crossed behind their backs, you name it.

RUSH: Let’s get back now to the Republican Party and the suicide mission that they’re on.
