RUSH: If you think, by the way, that the Lois Lerner e-mails are lost, you need to wake up. There is no way those e-mails are gone. There\u2019s no way a hard drive crash at the IRS or DOJ, a single crash has resulted in those e-mails being lost. There are backups every which way from Sunday. This is a document dump late Friday afternoon, and it\u2019s a stalling technique. It\u2019s embarrassing.<\/p>\n

You try it.<\/p>\n

Next time you get audited by the IRS and they want you to produce documents, say, “Oh, I don\u2019t have \u2019em. My hard drive crashed.” See how far it gets you.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re supposed to believe that Lois Lerner\u2019s computer crashed. It wasn\u2019t even a system crash, it was just her computer and all of her e-mails are gone. In fact, before that, there was a request for her e-mails way back a long time ago, and the IRS said, “You know, there\u2019s so much data that it would take us way, way, way too long to redact secret information before we could release these e-mails.” <\/p>\n

Jason Chaffetz asked the IRS commissioner, “You gonna comply with the subpoena?” This is a story about the request for these e-mails long time ago. “The Internal Revenue Service said Friday it has lost a trove of emails to and from a central figure in the agency\u00c2\u2019s tea party controversy, sparking outrage from congressional investigators who have been probing the agency for more than a year. The IRS told Congress Friday it cannot locate many of Lois Lerner\u00c2\u2019s emails prior to 2011 because her computer crashed during the summer of that year.”<\/p>\n

Why are we just hearing about this now? But these e-mails would have been on other servers and other computers that did not crash. So we have here a classic late Friday evening news dump, and the IRS is claiming they can\u2019t locate many of her e-mails prior to 2011 because her computer crashed during the summer of that year, which is preposterous. The Regime may not know that I know this, but since the Eisenhower administration, every federal agency\u2019s required to have a Continuity of Operations Plan. COOP is the acronym. And the COOP plan requires that they make and store duplicates of everything. These duplicates are maintained in another safe location in the event records are destroyed by fire or natural disaster or nuclear attack. <\/p>\n

If you stop and think about this, this is common sense. There\u2019s more than one copy of everything the government\u2019s doing. In fact, it\u2019s so massive, they then say, “Well, that\u2019s why we can\u2019t find it. I mean, there\u2019s so much out there that we don\u2019t know what to redact. It\u2019d take us too long to go through all of these e-mails to figure out what to redact.” On top of that, Congress was assured by the IRS commissioner under oath that Lois Lerner\u2019s e-mails were all archived. That was last summer when all of this was going down. So this is just another example of the White House insulting our intelligence with their in-your-face lies, is what this is. <\/line><\/p>\n

But the cherry on top of all of this is that we\u2019re just being told about these missing e-mails after the IRS scandal\u2019s been under investigation for more than a year? Two years now, could it be? And we\u2019re just now hearing that they claim her computer crashed? And again, during a prior request for her e-mails, they said, “Well, there\u2019s so much data that it would take us too long to find and redact the things that we didn\u2019t want to release.” And get this. The revelation on Friday that the IRS, quote, unquote, lost Lois Lerner\u2019s e-mails — by the way, who was it that said — oh, it was Ron Fournier<\/a>. He said a special prosecutor can find \u2019em. That\u2019s right. Independent counsel special prosecutor can find these. A darling of the Drive-By Media suggesting — Fournier is a little ticked. The Regime is even proving too much for him lately. <\/p>\n

But this revelation on Friday that Lois Lerner\u2019s e-mails were lost in a computer crash, that came 10 months after Congress first requested them, seven months after they were first subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee. The IRS commissioner testified about the e-mails at a hearing in March. What he said then appears to be at odds with the newer claims that the e-mails are irretrievable. Under questioning by Jason Chaffetz, Jason Chaffetz of the House Oversight Committee, the IRS commissioner said, “Well, you know, the e-mails, they get taken off and stored in servers.” That was part of the reason he said it was difficult to provide them in a timely fashion. “We had to go back. We don\u2019t know what\u2019s where. All her e-mails and everybody else\u2019s e-mails, they\u2019ve been off-loaded, archived, and stored on the server.” <\/line><\/p>\n

Okay, that was back in March. Back in March they said, “We archived them. We took \u2019em off, we got \u2019em on a server.” Now they tell us Friday her computer crashed, not the server. Her computer crashed. Lo and behold, “Oh, we feel horrible about this, but all of her e-mails have been lost.” Nobody\u2019s buying this. It\u2019s an insult to our intelligence, and it\u2019s a challenge, is what it is, to the Republicans to do something about it. It\u2019s a challenge to anybody to call them on it. Right now they\u2019re really feeling their oats. They\u2019re thinking nobody\u2019s gonna try to stop \u2019em, nobody\u2019s gonna push back, nobody\u2019s gonna call them on it. It\u2019s just the way that they\u2019re gonna deal with it. <\/line><\/p>\n

On one hand you look at the Regime and we see it falling apart. Approval numbers way down. Obama behaving as though, “Okay, I can\u2019t even make a pretense of going through the democratic process anymore. I\u2019m just gonna do whatever I can get away with executive power-wise and start doing it.” And with the full confidence that nobody\u2019s gonna stop him, for whatever reasons, the fear, the paranoia, the reluctance to stand up to him, he\u2019s very aware that it exists. <\/p>\n

So, guess what? Lois\u2019 computer crashed. You know what? All of her e-mails are gone. Sorry. What are you gonna do about it? Nah-nah-nah-nah. And they\u2019re pretty confident nobody\u2019s gonna do anything about it, other than flap their gums, talk about how mad they are, but that\u2019s gonna be the end of it.<\/p>\n
