CALLER: Hey, Rush, Doug. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m fine, sir. Thanks for the call.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You bet. Here from Tom Coburn country. It\u2019s a real shame we\u2019re gonna lose the man. Watching him in community meetings, the intelligence and the sincerity and the wisdom of Tom Coburn, it\u2019s gonna be quite a loss for us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I like him. He\u2019s a good guy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. What I was calling about is the Drive-By Media. Out of all of the problems that you listed in this recent survey, I think the underlying, pinning problem is the poor information people. What do you call them, the low-information voters, un-information voter? What\u2019s your term?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I just call \u2019em the low-information voters.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019m thinking, why don\u2019t we create a crowd-funding system called the Freedom of Information Fund, and let\u2019s sell shares to the American people — $25, $50 a share — and convert those into shares and buy up NBC and buy up 51%, and when we do that, we\u2019ll take on ABC and the others. There\u2019s enough business money and Republican money in this country to stop this nonsense of these radical Drive-By Media. We\u2019ll just own \u2019em.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you want to a kick-starter campaign in other words?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. We\u2019ll have the Freedom of Information Fund, and if you\u2019ll help me I\u2019ll start it. We\u2019ll get some stock brokerage to start it happening. I don\u2019t know what it would take. Well, how much would it cost to buy ABC ore NBC?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Do you have any idea?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You could buy CNN right now for maybe, what, $8 million?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Really?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Eight billion? What did I say?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Billion, maybe.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I think you could buy CNN for $8 billion.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know what it is. But with people like you and Romney and a whole bunch of affluent people, we could orchestrate the buy up of these networks and correct this problem. I think it\u2019s the major problem of this country is the low-information voter not getting the stories on the evening news, and I think we can fix it. What do you think we could do it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, this has come up throughout my 25 years of doing this show. “Why don\u2019t you, or why don\u2019t rich conservatives just get together and buy a network?”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: “Why don\u2019t they?” I\u2019ve never asked anybody this question. I\u2019ve just had people like you call and ask me about it. I don\u2019t know what their objection to it is.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know the security rules of converting crowd funding, and it wouldn\u2019t be donations. This would be investments.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that wouldn\u2019t work. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Wouldn\u2019t work?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, that\u2019s a problem.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, maybe we just need to set up a campaign to buy the shares \u2019til we can control it. But that would change everything in this country if Pelosi and these people couldn\u2019t run these stupid comments and have that carry the evening news.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, look, I totally agree that the landscape that we have today is directly traceable to the media. It\u2019s what I was getting at yesterday when I innocently asked people what percentage of the population they thought the is gay. The media makes it look like… If you ask anybody under 30 in this country, they\u2019ll tell you it\u2019s 30% of the population is gay. <\/p>\n

The reason they think that is because of the way the gay lifestyle and so forth is portrayed in all media, in entertainment media, news media. It is made to look like it\u2019s omnipresent and however it\u2019s portrayed. It\u2019s just there, so people get the idea that it\u2019s almost half the country, when it\u2019s not even 3%. Now, Rupert Murdoch just offered $80 billion for Time Warner, which includes CNN. <\/p>\n

He\u2019d have to sell it off, and that\u2019s where the $8 billion for price tag CNN actually surfaced. But he was rejected. So he\u2019s gotta come back. He\u2019s gotta sweeten the pot. Something like this has to be approved by regulatory agencies and so forth and so on. I know they\u2019re never gonna let it happen. Look, Doug, you know who Jack Welch is?<\/p>\n

Jack Welch, the famed chief executive officer of General Electric, Jack Welch is out there every day now, now on cable news and writing columns, and he\u2019s just bashing Obama\u2019s economic policies like you can\u2019t believe. He ran NBC News when GE owned it! Did it change? It didn\u2019t. It was such a small part of General Electric that Tom Brokaw\u2019s check came from the GE Refrigerator Division.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
