CALLER: Hello. Thank you for taking my call. I\u2019m shaking, I\u2019m so excited.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Great to have you here. Thank you.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: I wanted to bring up a point that I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve heard anywhere. As horrible…I mean, men should not hit their wives. In most… You know, but the women are staying with them. In the case that you were just talking about, she was with him for two-plus years, and you never left. I\u2019m thinking after the first time my husband hits me, I\u2019m totally out of there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re talking about —<\/p>\n

CALLER: So they\u2019re enabling.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You talking about Rasheedah Watley staying with Brandon Marshall?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. It happened more than once. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I think it\u2019s rather… Jennifer, I think it\u2019s rather common. It\u2019s been a phenomenon people talked about forever, in terms of trying to understand it. Meredith Vieira the other day owned up to the fact that she hung around a really abusive relationship. Before she married the guy she\u2019s currently married to, she stayed in a relationship for years with a guy that choked her, threw her up against the wall.<\/p>\n

It got worse and worse, and he\u2019d promise every time it would be the last time; he wouldn\u2019t do it again. She wrote or explained why she stayed in the relationship, and a lot of it is guilt. A lot of it is self-blame. A lot of it is fear of what else is out there, if you abandon that relationship. Relationships are important to a lot of people. I mean, the fear of losing one and finding another one is so great that you hang in. <\/p>\n

In the case of… We had a woman call after the NFL upped<\/a> its suspension to six games for spouse abuse, and a woman called and said, “They\u2019re not gonna report it. The women that marry these guys in large part marry \u2019em for the money and if the guys prevented from earning money because they get suspended, women aren\u2019t gonna admit it. They\u2019re just gonna sit there and take it and so forth and it\u2019s gonna be counterproductive.” Now, you say that he would leave the first time it happened, but most —<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m sure you mean it, but a lot of women don\u2019t, even though they mean it, too. It\u2019s a phenomenon.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t think they… I think you lose your right to complain about it, then. If you\u2019re not going to do anything about it, you have no right to complain about it. You either be part of the solution or part of the problem.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, now we have just had something provocative stated here on the EIB Network, and not by me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sorry. No. (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Congratulations.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, just to be clear: If a woman is in an abusive relationship and stays in it, then you aren\u2019t interested in what she says about it after that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Not — not unless she\u2019s going to be part of the solution. So yesterday I think it was you were talking about changing… They want to focus on changing men\u2019s behavior. Well, I think maybe they should look at themselves in mirror and focus on changing their behavior as well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no, no, no! We never, ever — and we never will — hear about reprogramming the way we raise girls.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, it drives me insane. I have a girl and I boy, and it just drives me insane. Which, by the way, she\u2019s looking forward to your next book that\u2019s overdue. So, that\u2019s all I\u2019ve got. (laughing) <\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Well, you tell her that she… (sigh) She\u2019s got a lot to look forward to, let me just put it that way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know, I\u2019m excited. So I wanted to bring up that point, and people just look… Ugh! It just… I\u2019m sorry. It drives me insane. So —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, no, it\u2019s interesting. Thanks for calling. I want to repeat this, because it reminds me of something. I was talking to Mr. Snerdley about this before the program. Not the specific point she just made. It is kind of interesting. “Okay, look, if you\u2019re in an abusive relationship, and you don\u2019t leave, then you are part of the problem and continuing to whine and complain about it should fall on deaf ears.” That was her point. But fat chance. I mean, that this is never…<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t care what… This is one of those things where the fault is never gonna be transferred. But something related to this. How many times, ladies and gentlemen, when there has been domestic civil unrest in a town or a city…? Let\u2019s say, riots, or after a team wins the championship the town goes nuts and starts burning buildings and cars and so forth. Or political reasons, there\u2019s rage, or a book comes out on how to assassinate George W. Bush.<\/p>\n

How many times are we told that we are not to judge that, that we instead are to take time and understand the rage? How many times have you heard that over the course of your life in the midst of any kind of outbreak of civil unrest and violence. “Hey, wait! Don\u2019t be too quick to condemn. You must understand why they are mad. You must take time to understand the rage.” <\/p>\n

The left is famous for that, folks, because most of the behavior we\u2019re talking about is committed by leftists, and so it can\u2019t be condemned. It must be understood because, you see, in trying to understand the reasons for the rage, we then get closer to accepting the premise that the rage (and whatever resulted from it) was valid. Okay, so here we come to spousal abuse in America. <\/p>\n

Whatever happened to…? Can you imagine if somebody said, “Hey, wait a minute, we should take time to understand the rage here”? I\u2019m just trying to point out leftist hypocrisy is practically in everything that occurs here. I mean, these are the people… They\u2019re the ones that run anti-bullying campaigns when in fact they are the bullies in the political realm. They really are what they accuse us of doing. <\/p>\n

They really do what they accuse us of doing, in many ways. I think this Battered Wife Syndrome extends to political parties. I actually think the Republican Party is suffering from it. The Republican Party is the equivalent of a battered wife. They don\u2019t get out. They continue to take the abuse. They get beat up all the time. The media beats \u2019em up left and right. Look at what they did to Mitt Romney. <\/p>\n

Mitt Romney, a classic example of battered wife. Just incessant, lies, distortions. It was brutal what was done to Romney. The lies that were told about Romney and the way he treats his wife and kids and his animals, his pets on the roof of the family sedan on vacation or what have you. He didn\u2019t pay his taxes.<\/p>\n

I think the Republicans exhibit classic battered wife traits. They\u2019re too scared to do anything about it. They got posttraumatic stress disorder because they know the media is gonna come calling and rip \u2019em to shreds.
