They used to be featured frequently here by way of audio sound bites. Some of the inane, insane, ridiculous things that were said on that network were quite entertaining.

However, I realized I was violating one of the age-old broadcast tenets, and that is I was essentially elevating a network that could be construed to be “the competition.” In the old days — I don’t like “the old days.” Back when I started in this business, you never mentioned the competition. They didn’t exist. That was a rule of thumb. You never talked about it. It was just standard operating procedure. You didn’t clue anybody else in to what was happening, even if it was critical. You just didn’t do it.

The old rule of thumb was, there wasn’t anybody else doing what you do, except you, and in my case, that still happens to be true. And after a while I stopped being entertained by these bites and I started getting mad, started ruining my mood. And then I said, “What the hell am I doing, elevating this network beyond what it would ordinarily be? Nobody’s watching this network, and to the extent that I’m publicizing it, I may be actually increasing their ratings.”

So I said, “To heck with it.” And I instituted a ban. Some staffers were noticeably upset, and there was almost a revolt in one of the miniature production offices because it made acquiring liberal sound bites even tougher. But I stuck to the ban. And when the ban happened, after a while, we began to see MSNBC’s ratings fall off the cliff, proving my point. You don’t talk about the competition. In this case, it wasn’t so much the competition, as why give liberals an even wider berth than they already have, even if the berth we were providing illustrated insanity, ludicrousness and absolute danger.

Why do this? Why not let them seek their own level? And, as such, their ratings fell. Now their ratings barely show up. I mean, they’re dealing with asterisks and in some time slots, and in the time slots said to be the ones where they’re most successful, you could still put the audience in a thimble, inside a phone booth. But today, ladies and gentlemen, something happened that has required me to temporarily lift the ban on MSNBC. No ban is forever. No ban is rock solid. You must be flexible. And I, El Rushbo, am noticeably flexible in many ways.</line>

Many think I’m rock solid, rigid, unbending. Not true. But today, something happened on that network that you have hear. And I don’t understand it. I don’t know how it happened. I’m really puzzled by this. I’m wondering how long it’s going to be before whoever made this gaffe — it was Tina Brown — is forced to walk this back or be excommunicated not only from the liberal movement, but maybe be forced to move back to London.

She was on Morning Joe today. She’s the founder and former editor of The Daily Beast and Newsweek, and founder of Tina Brown Live. They were having a discussion about recent polls that showed the Democrats are struggling with women in the 2014 midterm races. And we’ve mentioned this, that this so-called War on Women is actually coming back to bite the Democrats in a lot of ways, but this sound bite — well, just hear it on your own. I don’t even want to characterize it before you hear it. She was talking to the cohostette, Mika Brzezinski, who said, “Tina, what do you think is behind these numbers, the Democrats losing women?”

BROWN: Particularly for women, I don’t think he makes them feel safe. They’re feeling unsafe. They feel unsafe economically. They’re feeling unsafe with regard to ISIS. They’re feeling unsafe about Ebola. What they feel unsafe about is the government response to different crises. And I think that they’re beginning to feel a bit that Obama’s like that guy in the corner office who’s too cool for school, calls a meeting, says this has to change, doesn’t put anything in place to make sure it does change. Then it goes wrong, and he’s blaming everybody.</line>

RUSH: She’s talking about the first black president of the United States, Barack Hussein O, who she said makes women feel unsafe. She said women feel unsafe economically because of Barack Hussein O. She said women are feeling unsafe with regard to ISIS because of Barack Hussein O. She said women are feeling unsafe about Ebola because of Barack Hussein O. Not Republicans, not John Boehner, not Mitch McConnell, not me, not the War on Women.

Tina Brown, who is arguably one of the tent poles of the Democrat media machine, has just said that the reason women are abandoning the Democrat Party, at least in this polling data that we have, is because Obama is not making them feel safe. They feel unsafe because of Barack Hussein O by the government’s response to different crises. And she said, “I think women are beginning to feel a bit that Obama’s like the guy in the corner office who’s too cool for school, calls a meeting, says this has to change –” Exactly right.

Look, she’s exactly right about this. I’ve been talking about this. Obama and the left, they think they make a speech on something, it’s fixed. They write a position paper on something, it’s fixed. They call a meeting on something, it’s fixed, mission accomplished. Got an Ebola program, go make a speech, done. Got a problem with the economy, go out and do a jobs speech and then add to it with a jobs seminar at the White House featuring columnists from New York Times, job done, mission accomplished. But, of course, nothing’s changing, nothing’s being accomplished. Everything is falling apart. Everything is fraying, and it’s not the fault of the Republicans. It’s a golden opportunity. The Democrats are losing in the polls for women.

It’s a golden opportunity to blame Republicans for it!

In the old days, like just two weeks ago, three weeks ago, if they were gonna discuss this — Why are the Democrats losing women in pre-election polls? — the answer would go something like, “Well, it’s because the Republicans are refusing to cooperate with Obama, and the Republicans don’t want women to have sex, and Republicans don’t want women to have babies, and Republicans don’t want women to have abortions. Republicans…”</line>

It would be totally turned on Republicans’ lack of cooperation with Obama, and then they would have been puzzled. “Okay, so why take it out on Obama?” They didn’t even bother with that this time. This is unheard of. This has never happened before. This is… I mean the Democrats have had this War on Women meme ever since that Republican candidate debate in the primaries in January of 2008 when George Stephanopoulos started asking Mitt Romney about contraception out of the blue.

That’s when the War on Women began, and they’ve been using it every day, every week, every month since. And here comes Tina Brown blowing it out of the water, and she even… She even gets close here to the Limbaugh Theorem when she notices that Obama blames everybody else. Too cool for school, sits in a corner office, makes a speech, does something. Nothing gets done, then he blames everybody else when nothing gets done. Limbaugh Theorem.

In fact, the Limbaugh Theorem is in full force today. Do you know how mad Obama is over… (interruption) Have you heard about this, folks? Obama is livid; he is mad at hell. Thanks to a White House leak to the New York Times, we now know that Obama is mad as hell about his administration’s handling of the Ebola crisis. What I want to know is who told him? He says he gets all the news, he learns these things same time we do, in his newspaper.

So obviously he was reading the New York Times, and he found out that his administration’s handling of Ebola hasn’t been anything to write home about, and he’s mad about it. He even called an Ebola meeting on Saturday after playing golf for four hours and 40 minutes. He called an Ebola meeting and the Ebola czar didn’t even bother to show up. This is the second Ebola meeting.

Look, the meeting is where everything gets “fixed,” and if the Ebola czar doesn’t go to the meeting you can’t then come out of the meeting and say, “The Ebola czar was here, we had a meeting, and problem solved.” You can’t say that ’cause the Ebola czar wasn’t there. He was in a hot tub someplace — with some women, probably. I mean it’s Ron Klain, it’s Algore, it’s Clinton. He’s probably in a hot tub somewhere. Just couldn’t get to the White House.

But, anyway, Obama was livid when he found out about this. Have they even talked about Ebola on ESPN or the Golf Channel? That’s what Obama watches. I don’t know, folks. But don’t panic! The same New York Times article stressed that it’s a dilemma for Obama. He has to look like he’s very concerned, but he doesn’t want the public to panic about Ebola. He wants us to panic about climate change, but he doesn’t want us to panic about Ebola.</line>

So he’s gotta walk a fine line. He can’t look like he’s really concerned, but at the same time he’s gotta act a little concerned that his staff is making such a mess of things. Limbaugh Theorem. “He’s just like you! He’s looking on the outside to the inside, he’s seeing a bunch of screw ups, and he’s just as mad about it as you are,” even though it’s his own administration. That’s the Limbaugh Theorem.

Tina Brown got close to identifying it. Not by name, of course, by saying everything goes wrong and he blames everybody else. But, anyway, how do they…? I know, when I say, “How do they carry forth with the War on Women,” granted this won’t stop them, but this is a sound bite in a TV commercial made to order. Women feel unsafe because of Barack Hussein O.

Look, there’s an unspoken facet of this. I am not gonna speak it, but somebody will. I guarantee you. Women are made to feel unsafe by Barack Hussein Obama? I mean, what a mighty fall. What a mighty plunge from the heady, messianic days of 2008. And I’ll tell you, it’s not good out there. Obama decided to actually campaign for somebody other than himself. He went to Upper Marlboro, Maryland, a rare appearance on the campaign trail Sunday.</line>

He had a rally to support a Democrat candidate for governor in Maryland, and the crowd heckled him and walked out before he was finished. Here’s how they write about it at Reuters: “President Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity.”

Ladies and gentlemen, that is putting it mildly. This is his first campaign appearance for a black candidate in a heavily Democrat area before a black audience, and they walked out. That happened yesterday. Today, Tina Brown says, women all across the fruited plain are made to feel unsafe by Barack Hussein O. Unsafe! Listen to it again. I don’t want to even try to characterize it in my own words. Tina Brown, MSNBC today talking to Mika Brzezinski.

Then it goes wrong, and he’s blaming everybody.

RUSH: Right. Limbaugh Theorem. There you have it. What War on Women? It’s just been thrown under the bus and overboard, nuked by one of the nation’s leading feminists: Tina Brown. The important thing, though — the important thing to remember — is Obama is mad, and when Obama gets mad, now the gloves are really gonna come off. No wait. No. No, no. Sorry. This is when the gloves are really gonna go on.

If Obama has to go to each hospital personally and make sure these doctors and nurses are following the proper protocol… See, this is what’s gonna happen. He calls a meeting, nobody shows up. The Ebola czar’s in the hot tub. Obama reads in the New York Times that somebody’s leaked that he’s mad, and he can’t stand it. He’s gonna have to take matters into his own hands to solve the problem.

It’s made to order for a guy who wants to appear that compassionate, that hands on.

Anyway, I gotta take a brief time-out here, my friends. Also coming up on the program today, once again have to clean up a mess that the media is trying to make about comments I’ve made regarding Ebola and Africa and Obama. It won’t be hard. It’s gonna be fun. It’s par for the course and typical. Hang in there and be tough. We will be back and move right on.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I never knew… I don’t know about you; I never knew Tina Brown was a racist like this. I mean, you have the first African-American president, and she’s out saying that he makes women feel unsafe? Where is her sensitivity to all of this? I don’t know.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Off to a rousing start, after temporarily lifting the ban on audio sound bites from MSNBC. We’re starting in Chicago. This is Vivian. Vivian, welcome. Great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. It’s an honor to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you!

CALLER: So your comments about Tina Brown this morning?

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I think she’s just shilling for Hillary Clinton. (zoom noise) She’s not against Obama because she’s against Obama and the Democrats, and I don’t think that we should get too excited that the Democrats are leaving him. (zoom noise) I think it’s that they’re trying to set Hillary up.

RUSH: Well, you have somewhat of a point.

CALLER: (zoom noise)

RUSH: Tina Brown and Hillary have some similarities. Physical, too. There’s no question that she’s in the tank for the Clintons. I mean, there literally is no question. You’re absolutely right about that.

CALLER: Yeah. (zoom noise)

RUSH: But why now?How does it help Hillary right now?

CALLER: (zoom noise) Well, I don’t think they’re trying to help right now. I think they’re setting up the talking points. (zoom noise)

RUSH: By the way, what is that noise in the background? You sound like you’re in a —

CALLER: We pulled over so we wouldn’t lose you, and we’re on the highway.

RUSH: Oh, I was gonna say, it sounded like you were in a truck stop.

CALLER: (giggles)

RUSH: How would I know that?

CALLER: Sorry.

RUSH: It’s one thing to try to promote Hillary, but how does destroying the female support of the Democrat Party help Hillary two years from now?

CALLER: I don’t think that’s what they’re doing. I think they’re setting it up to say, “Oh, we need a savior. We need a woman who understands you and cares about you.” Ergo, after the midterms, we’re gonna start hearing, “Hillary is the one.”

RUSH: Totally. Makes total sense —

CALLER: I think so.

RUSH: Especially that Tina Brown would do it.</line>

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: I mean, you can’t be in the more tank. Tina or Huma, you know, it depends on the day.

CALLER: Yeah, but nobody wants to hear from Huma, Rush.

RUSH: What was that? Say that again?

CALLER: Nobody wants to hear from Huma.

RUSH: Nobody ever does hear from Huma.

CALLER: That’s why! (giggling)

RUSH: Huma is a closed-door thing.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: That’s all I’m saying.

CALLER: Well, that’s good. Because with that husband, we don’t want to look.

RUSH: But I’m still intrigued here. I mean, this is undercutting not just Obama. I mean, if this gets out, this is undercutting the whole Democrat Party War on Women thing. This goes beyond Obama. To say that he makes women feel “unsafe”? I mean, blaming the loss of women, support from women on Obama “making women feel unsafe”?

CALLER: Sure. They may get it back later with Hillary. It’s a takeaway.

RUSH: I know that they gonna try to get it back. I know they’re gonna trying to do the same thing and repeat the process: First female president, inoculated against any criticism. It would be sexist. But since when has it become permissible for Democrat women to go racist on Obama, which is what Tina Brown has done here? I mean, the first black president makes women feel unsafe? Come on. “Unsafe.” Her words! He “makes women feel unsafe,” and then goes through the litany. My only point is, you’re exactly right, Vivian, about Tina Brown trying to help Hillary. But this? I’m just saying it’s more than that. This is a… I mean, this is a bull’s-eye right at Obama, and every aspect of his image.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT</line>
RUSH: Grab sound bite number one. Gotta play this in case you missed this, folks. We lifted temporarily my imposed ban on any and all sound bites from MSNBC for the following sound bite from Tina Brown who was on Morning Joe today. The subject was Obama losing vast support from women. The Democrat Party losing big in polling data with women, ahead of the November elections. Tina Brown, a big Hillaryite, it should be pointed out, and a doyenne of left-wing culture, both political and social, was asked to come on MSNBC and explain why women are abandoning Obama.</line>

Then it goes wrong, and he’s blaming everybody.

RUSH: Holy smokes, she just dumped on Obama as making women feel unsafe. Unsafe economically, unsafe regarding ISIS, unsafe about Ebola. She didn’t say about Obamacare, but unsafe about the government response to different crises. It’s beginning to feel a bit that Obama’s like the guy in the corner office too cool for school, calls a meeting, says this has to change, that has to change. Doesn’t put anything in place to make the change, and then, when it goes wrong, blames everybody else. She’s got that nailed, I’m telling you, this is classic what liberals do.

Call a meeting, give a speech, problem solved. Write a paper, problem solved. Simply go out and address the issue, identify the issue, tell everybody you know there’s a problem. Problem solved. Low employment, tough times economically, go have a summit in the White House, call it a jobs summit. By five o’clock that day, problem solved. You’ve addressed it. And she’s calling him out on it.

But I think this is big. Unsafe, the first African-American president she says making women feel unsafe. But the point of it is, women in polling data abandoning Democrats ahead of the November elections. But it’s worse than even that.

“The confidential memo from a former pollster for President Obama contained a blunt warning for Democrats. Written this month with an eye toward Election Day, it predicted ‘crushing Democratic losses across the country’ if the party did not do more to get black voters to the polls. ‘African-American surge voters came out in force in 2008 and 2012, but they are not well positioned to do so again in 2014,’ Cornell Belcher, the pollster, wrote in the memo, dated Oct. 1. ‘In fact, over half aren’t even sure when the midterm elections are taking place.'”

You heard me, a Democrat pollster in a memo to Obama and the party, said if you don’t get the blacks to turn out, you don’t have a prayer. It’s gonna be a bloodbath. And it’s even worse. Over half of African-Americans don’t even know when the midterm elections are.

Now, you know what they’ll chalk that up to. They’ll blame the Koch brothers for running a dirty-tricks campaign to lie to black voters about when the election is. They will! They’ll blame the Koch brothers for this. Maybe me, but more than likely the Koch brothers. Cornell “Belcher’s assessment points to an urgent imperative for Democrats: To keep Republicans from taking control of the Senate, as many are predicting, they need black voters in at least four key states.

“Yet the one politician guaranteed to generate enthusiasm among African Americans is the same man many Democratic candidates want to avoid: Mr. Obama.” They’ve got a problem, they think. So women are abandoning them. African-Americans are uninterested; over half don’t even know when the election is because of the trickster campaign of the Koch brothers. No, I’m making that up. Don’t anybody believe that.

Look, the way I said that, I can see some people confused. The Koch brothers have nothing to do with this. Half of African-Americans have no idea when the election is. They don’t vote in midterms, anyway. Historically, they don’t vote in midterms. And the one guy who theoretically could inspire ’em and get ’em out would be Obama, but nobody wants him on the trail with ’em.</line>

Except, Obama went to Upper Marlboro, Maryland, yesterday and finally campaigned for somebody other than himself. He campaigned for an African-American seeking the governorship in Maryland. It was a largely black audience, and they walked out! There were hecklers, and they walked out.
