RUSH: Caroline in Twin Valley, Minnesota. You\u2019re next. I appreciate your call. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I calmed down a little bit since I first made this call, but there are days when I get so mad at you I can\u2019t even see straight. You took this Ted or Pat — I didn\u2019t quite get what his name was — and you took his call and you used the opportunity again to rake the Republicans<\/a> over the coals, and then you wonder why people stay home.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Like the call a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (sigh)<\/p>\n

CALLER: This guy called in and said, “Boy, I\u2019m gonna teach those Republicans a lesson. I\u2019m gonna vote for an independent,” and you said, “Oh, you can\u2019t do that.” Well, what do you expect? You know, yes, we the people —<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We, the people, are responsible for this mess that we\u2019re in.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait just a second. Wait just a sec.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am not the reason that four million people didn\u2019t vote for Romney.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand that, but you\u2019re responsible for a lot of people that didn\u2019t vote, but I have a solution. Will you listen to my solution?<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, what is it? I wish to hell somebody had one. What is it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: We have no choice right now in this elections but to vote Republican, because we have no other alternative. Then we, the people, have to get involved. We have to put people like Boehner and our representatives on our speed dial and we have to hold their feet to the fire. I\u2019m one person that calls John Boehner one gutless wonder. But he is in there because somebody voted for him. Well, let\u2019s hold his feet to the fire. Maybe we have to clean house, but right now we can only vote for Republicans.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Have you heard me say not to?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Nope. No. I certainly have not. But the impression you\u2019re giving when you rake those Republicans over the coals day after day after day is that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s the thing. You know, I can\u2019t win. If I talk \u2019em up, people call me, “You sellout! You\u2019re nothing but a… You\u2019re just a mouthpiece for the Republican Party,” and then if I tell them what I really think about what I think they ought to be doing, you call and tell me I\u2019m to blame for whatever negative is gonna happen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, you\u2019re not. No. No!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I can\u2019t win with this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There again. You\u2019re feeling sorry for yourself.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, come on. I\u2019m not feeling sorry for myself. (laughing) I don\u2019t feel sorry for myself.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just (crosstalk) about raking the Republicans over the coals and leave it at that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t feel sorry for myself. I\u2019m simply pointing out how I\u2019m in the middle here, and, no matter what, I\u2019m gonna have critics — which tells me I\u2019m doing something right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, you\u2019re not!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, I am!<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re crushing people\u2019s butterflies and making them stay home and not go vote.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Crushing people\u2019s butterflies?<\/p>\n

CALLER: But it\u2019s our responsibility to vote.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Wait a second. You say, “Vote for \u2019em, and then after we vote for \u2019em then give \u2019em hell.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: How else we gonna do? Right now it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But the point is that\u2019s been happening, and it isn\u2019t changing anything!<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, it hasn\u2019t been happening. People vote these people in, and then they go about their business and they quit holding them —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no, they haven\u2019t. They have been letting them have it over the budget, the continuing resolution. They\u2019ve been shutting down the phone lines! Why do you think people are mad at \u2019em? Because they aren\u2019t listening. Eric Cantor got thrown out by people who are paying attention! It\u2019s dangerous times.
