CALLER: How are you today, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m great. I\u2019m glad you called, sir. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, the reason I\u2019m calling is my daughter is a first-year cadet at West Point. She\u2019s a plebe. Part of their responsibilities each year, the first-year cadets at their Christmas dinner — which is for all the cadets when they gather in their lunch hall or the meal hall at the end of the day — is the plebes have to provide cigars to their entire company. Now, unfortunately, I know nothing about cigars.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How many?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: My daughter knows nothing about cigars. My wife knows nothing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Don\u2019t worry, I do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And you\u2019re the man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How many cigars<\/a> is she gonna have to provide?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, of course, the company is over a hundred. But her table alone is 10 cadets.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay so she\u2019d just have to provide them for one table?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, technically more than that, you know, like a box of something, just to make sure everybody can smoke two. (chuckles) You know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I need a number. Are you looking at 25, 50, 100? Give me a ballpark number.<\/p>\n

CALLER: A hundred. That would cover the whole company. <\/p>\n

RUSH: A hundred.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Beast Company. Bravo! Bravo Company. The Beast. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Bravo Company.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry, the Barbarians.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. Right. I know Bravo Company. Cool. Your daughter is a cadet at West Point?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, she\u2019s the youngest cadet at West Point. She\u2019s only 17-1\/2.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have gotta be so proud, you can\u2019t control it, I bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Can\u2019t you hear it in my voice? This girl… This girl is light-years ahead of where she should be. She is so… You know what? I\u2019m gonna tell you, she\u2019s just like her mother.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s pretty impressive. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, she\u2019s something.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is pretty impressive. I\u2019ll tell you what, here. You need a hundred cigars. How about if I send you a hundred cigars, an assortment of stuff from my own collection? You don\u2019t have to tell them.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: You don\u2019t have to do that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no. You don\u2019t have to tell anyone. She doesn\u2019t have to tell anybody where they came from. They\u2019re from her. I\u2019ll send you some. A hundred cigars is gonna cost a lot of money.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019d be grateful. That\u2019s crazy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, I know it is, but I\u2019ve got \u2019em. I collect \u2019em. I love giving \u2019em away to people that really enjoy \u2019em, and I could think of no better place than West Point!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am ecstatic that they still permit it. I\u2019d be honored for my sticks to be part of the ceremony!<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a huge event. She says the Common is covered in smoke. She says it\u2019s a haze at this dinner.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Man, I would pay to be there just to breathe it in.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll tell you what I\u2019ll do. I\u2019ll send an assortment of things. When do you need \u2019em?<\/p>\n

CALLER: As soon as possible, because it\u2019s before Christmas.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So if I get \u2019em out Monday or Tuesday next week, that\u2019d be okay?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So what I need you to do is hang on so that we can get an address. We\u2019ll FedEx these things to you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wow.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, you be sure and tell her they don\u2019t… This from her. This does not have to come from me. I don\u2019t care that anybody knows that. That\u2019s not the point. As far as anybody knows, she got \u2019em. Which she did. I mean, you\u2019re procuring them for her. You admittedly don\u2019t know anything about it, and you don\u2019t want to give away junk.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. No. And, I\u2019m telling you, the cadets, this is a big event for them. This is a huge social event for them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, I can imagine. Gosh, what a long-lost tradition. You can\u2019t do this anywhere anymore.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, and you know what? It brings the cadets together. This is when they form their camaraderie.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: This brings them into the fold.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Absolutely. I would be honored to provide these things. So I want you hang on here, and we\u2019ll… (interruption) Well, my staff is asking for a picture, and I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s improper. I don\u2019t know if we\u2019re not allowed to see pictures of this event, but it\u2019s enough to know that we\u2019re able to make this happen here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, if I can weasel a picture out of her, I will do it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. But I don\u2019t want… Look, that\u2019s probably a closed event, and it\u2019s the Army.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, these are close-to-the-vest things. So don\u2019t bust a bun on that. Hang on here so Snerdley gets your address so we can send this.
