RUSH: Pat, Emerald Isle, North Carolina. I\u2019m glad you waited. I appreciate your patience.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. I\u2019m from Emerald Isle and 71 years old and it\u2019s quite a kick to be able to talk to you. I\u2019m from Alaska. My father was Democratic county chairman and all that stuff and all the way up through. But I heard you talking on the radio, and I really appreciate somebody who\u2019s really good at something I\u2019m terrible at, and that\u2019s being eloquent, speaking clearly, be able to enunciate every word perfectly. And one time you said you\u2019re not a newsman, you\u2019re an entertainer. Well, you\u2019re a hell of an entertainer. A golfer, I\u2019m not too sure about that. I do want to find out if you ever did break a hundred, but, anyway. It\u2019s a pleasure talking to you. What am I concerned about? I\u2019m concerned about the casino in Washington, DC. (unintelligible) and anybody can have a job for over eight years there —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why are you concerned about casinos in Washington?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because they can be there their whole lives and not do anything, not accomplish a god darn thing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who? You mean, elected officials?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. The Congress.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. Well, that is elected officials.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, that\u2019s what I\u2019m saying. And when you said something about the Democrats where they were arrogant? Oh, my God. Have you listened to the leaders of the Republican Party in Congress arrogance? Boner, Boehner, whatever his name is, oh, my God. I know there\u2019s arrogance on all sides. That\u2019s why I\u2019m saying, I\u2019m giving up on politics. I\u2019m giving up on seeing much happen very good for the middle class in this country now because it\u2019s just about extinct. I retired as a postal service worker, 32 years —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, it\u2019s not extinct, but you have a point because it\u2019s getting harder and harder to stay in the middle class. That is a valid point.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The economy in this country is transmogrified in a profound dialectic way, and it is having a deleterious effect on those who consider themselves to be members of the middle class.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019m watching my income, my retirement that I worked for, watching it shrink up day by day, you know. But I\u2019m the lucky one. People not being able to get a job, it\u2019s just scaring me. And when they get a job, what do they get, 10 bucks an hour? Good luck with that one. I mean, forget it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re automatically going right into the poor class and that bothers me. And the other thing is all our young kids getting on heroin. That\u2019s probably my number one, not complaint, I\u2019m just scared.<\/p>\n
