RUSH: Back to the telephones we go. This is Olivia in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Olivia, ladies and gentlemen, is 12 years old. Hi, Olivia. I assume you\u2019re out of school today because of the snow; is that right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, congratulations. Did it snow much in Atlantic City?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, not really. We only got like four inches of snow, so it\u2019s not that bad.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But you didn\u2019t have to go school today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, that\u2019s cool, that\u2019s cool. We had to go to school. It took 15 inches before they canceled school.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, wow.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, you\u2019re lucky. So what\u2019s up? What are you doing?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019m just enjoying your book, the first book.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s awesome. Thank you very much, 12 years old, and how far into it are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m like halfway into it, but before I picked it up I didn\u2019t like history, and my grade was like a C. But now that I picked it up, I can\u2019t put it down and my grade\u2019s like a 99.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No kidding?<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I love history.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What was it you didn\u2019t like about history?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, it just seemed like, not boring, but just like not very exciting and vibrant, but now it\u2019s like just like, I love history.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It sounds like you didn\u2019t have anybody that knew how to make history relate to current times. It sounds like it was just presented to you in kind of a dry, “Hey, this happened way back then” kind of fashion.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, it wasn\u2019t as much that. It was just mostly the material. The book I was learning it from didn\u2019t really make it as vibrant as I thought it could be.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/map>\n<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a shame. Well, I\u2019m glad that my book satisfies you in that regard, and I\u2019m glad you think it\u2019s vibrant.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I love it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, have you got the other two yet?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I haven\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. Did you get this for Christmas or did you just pick it up recently?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I got it a few months ago. My dad recommended it \u2019cause he\u2019s been listening to you for like 25 years, and he also says mega dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, cool. So you\u2019ve had it around for a while, and you just never opened it, and all of a sudden you did, and you ended up liking it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Olivia, you warm my heart. I just love hearing stories like this because it was written for people just like you. It was written so that you would find history entertaining and interesting and you would want to be a part of it. If you\u2019ll hang on, I want to get your address. I want to send you the other two books and some CDs of the audio version<\/a> that I read. I read them out loud. And some other stuff, too, so if you\u2019ll hang on, I really appreciate it.
