RUSH: Thomas Jefferson said, “God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?” <\/p>\n

Now, to me that makes perfect sense. To some it might be confusing. But Jefferson is a Founding Father. Jefferson is one who acknowledged and agreed that we are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. <\/p>\n

Jefferson was one of those who acknowledged that God is the source. Jefferson was obsessed — well, I won\u2019t say obsessed. Jefferson was really concerned about making sure that this freedom and liberty maintained even to the point of throwing the government over now and then if necessary. He called it the tree of liberty. Sometimes blood has to be shed. The point is Jefferson thought about all this a lot, and he said, among other things, God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. <\/p>\n

“Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?” In other words, how secure is the nation when people like Chris Cuomo are running around thinking that freedom is a gift of Obama or a gift of a human being, how damn secure? We\u2019re not very secure, because if our freedom comes from the good graces of a human being, what happens if we elect a bad guy who takes our freedom away? Oh, my God, that would be horrible. <\/line><\/p>\n

How secure could our freedom be if a country believes that its freedom comes from other men, human beings? I don\u2019t mean to leave women out here, but I\u2019m talking in the generic sense. How can this be? But if your freedom comes from God, that\u2019s who you are. The only thing that can happen to that is evil men come along and encroach on it. <\/p>\n

“Your freedom is actually not free. You may not get up every day and have to go buy it. But there have been people from the beginning of time who\u2019ve given their lives or put their lives on the line for your freedom and mine. They\u2019re paying the price. They\u2019re called the US military, and other similar types of organizations.”<\/p>\n

Did I ever tell you the story about Natan Sharansky? I interviewed him for a long-ago issue of the Limbaugh Letter<\/a>. He was in prison, a Soviet Jew, and he was imprisoned in a Soviet jail. And he loved to tell the story of taunting his guards by telling them that he was more free than they were. Every time he got a new guard he\u2019d get into a conversation, “You know, I\u2019m more free than you are,” and the guard would look at him like he\u2019s an idiot. “What do you mean? You\u2019re behind bars. I\u2019m on the free side here. You have to do what I tell you. You\u2019re the prisoner.” <\/p>\n

And Sharansky said, “Yeah, but I can sit in here and I can tell jokes about Brezhnev and Andropov and Khrushchev and all those guys all day long, and I can sit here and laugh at them. You can\u2019t or they\u2019ll throw you outta here.” <\/p>\n

It was a brilliant point about what is really freedom and what\u2019s liberty and how freedom exists in prison. You know, I don\u2019t mean to get too deep with this, but it\u2019s important, \u2019cause it isn\u2019t taught anymore. Again, this is all why we are doing the Rush Revere children\u2019s books, folks. All of this, particularly the stuff we focused on today. This is exactly why we are doing these books. <\/p>\n

Now, my question about where do you go to buy your freedom, it\u2019s not as simple as you may think. You might say, “Nowhere. I wake up in America and I\u2019m free.” Yeah, that\u2019s true, as far as it goes. But the point is if you wake up in Cuba, you are not. And you can\u2019t buy your freedom in Cuba, unless you have what no Cuban has, either a lot of money and can become part of the Regime, in which case you\u2019re still not really free, or enough money to get out of there. <\/p>\n

The same with any oppressive socialist or communist country: You can\u2019t go anywhere to buy your freedom. You\u2019re born with it, but if you live in a Regime that tyrannizes people and you\u2019re not allowed to exercise it, you still have it; it\u2019s just being denied you. But when it comes to where do you go to buy your food, well, McDonald\u2019s, grocery store, whatever. The point is, you have to go buy it. It\u2019s not given to you. You\u2019re not born with an endless supply of food in the cupboard. You have to go buy that. <\/p>\n

The same thing with a car, same thing with your house, with your shelter, you have to go buy that. Where do you go to buy your health care? It\u2019s not a right. If it was a right, it wouldn\u2019t be question of affording it, wouldn\u2019t need health care, wouldn\u2019t need national health care, wouldn\u2019t need insurance companies; it\u2019s a right. But it isn\u2019t. Same thing with a job. If everybody has a right to a job, why are 92 million Americans not working? And we assume that some of those 92 million want to. <\/p>\n

But, you know, your freedom is actually not free. You may not get up every day and have to go buy it. But there have been people from the beginning of time who\u2019ve given their lives or put their lives on the line for your freedom and mine. They\u2019re paying the price. They\u2019re called the US military, and other similar types of organizations. There are all kinds of people that would buy our freedom for us. But it\u2019s not something you have to go to the store and buy every day. You\u2019re born with it. <\/p>\n

You come out of the womb with it, if you\u2019re lucky to come out of the womb, because some people think there\u2019s a right to kill you in the womb. That\u2019s not a right, either. That is another man-made law. Denying what has already been codified in our founding documents, the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. <\/p>\n

So we got a guy like Chris Cuomo on CNN<\/a> talking about things he literally has no idea about, and he\u2019s in the seat of authority because people look at news networks as places of authority. And you have idiots and people that are genuinely ignorant and haven\u2019t the slightest idea what they\u2019re talking about and yet automatically have conveyed upon them credibility because of authority, because of where they work, it can lead to a really screwed up country, society, and population because it can really lead to a totally mis- and uninformed population. <\/p>\n

Thank you, CNN. And it isn\u2019t just CNN. It\u2019s practically everywhere you look in the Big Media. The things we\u2019ve been talking about today are utterly common sense. They do not require a three-figure IQ to understand this stuff. It just isn\u2019t taught anymore. It just isn\u2019t explained. And the reason for that is there\u2019s not as much reverence for the founding of this country as there once was. In fact, the reverence is kinda dwindling. The Founders now have become slave owners, racists, thugs, sexists, bigots, environmental destroyers. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a sad thing to see, a sad thing to watch when it\u2019s all demonstrably BS. But none of this stuff is uniquely hard to understand. I venture to say that every one of you who\u2019ve been tuned in the last hour and a half have understood what I\u2019ve said. It probably makes perfect sense to you. It may not have ever been explained that way to you before. The notion of rights versus laws, when people use the word “rights” today, they\u2019re not even talking about rights. What they really mean is things they think they\u2019re entitled to. I mean, it\u2019s descended even that far off the bull\u2019s-eye, what it really means. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
