RUSH: Here is Tom in Olney, Maryland. This is the guy that we were gonna call back today, we didn\u2019t have time to get to yesterday. Hi, Tom. I\u2019m glad you let us call you. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good, Rush. Mega dittos from Olney. I was listening to your program yesterday and, while I appreciate your optimism about the possibility of a conservative winning the next presidential election, winning in Wisconsin\u2019s one thing. Winning on the national level is a whole other thing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m not saying that Walker\u2019s a shoo-in, and I —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand that. I don\u2019t mean — I\u2019m talking about any conservative.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. It\u2019s a long shot, but I\u2019m telling you it can be done. My point yesterday was that young people haven\u2019t even had a chance to vote for a conservative in their lifetimes because one hasn\u2019t been nominated. Conservatism works, is my point. If we get somebody who can articulate it cheerfully and confidently and infectiously, Katy, bar the door. I\u2019m very confident about that. It can win. It does. It clearly does.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Given what\u2019s going on in the colleges these days, I\u2019d bet less than 5% of the kids in college, 10%, maybe, would ever vote conservative. They\u2019re being brainwashed.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I understand all of that. But I also think there\u2019s a solution. Otherwise I\u2019d pack it in. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s time — and I\u2019ve told people when it\u2019s gonna be time to panic. And I don\u2019t think it\u2019s time yet. I understand what you\u2019re saying. I know the odds are big, but I don\u2019t believe they\u2019re insurmountable, and I don\u2019t think one election\u2019s gonna fix anything, even if we do win it. But I\u2019m not to the point of saying it\u2019s hopeless or that utter futility has settled in. And I\u2019m not saying Scott Walker is the guy. <\/p>\n

All I\u2019m pointing out is, he\u2019s done it. The evidence that it can be done is Scott Walker. University of Madison, Wisconsin, it\u2019s all commie babe. It\u2019s as left as any other university in the country is, Tom. It\u2019s big union. He overcame it; three elections he won there. So I think it\u2019s possible. That\u2019s my only point with this, is there\u2019s evidence it can be done, and that the evidence doesn\u2019t need to be discounted, the evidence is real.
