RUSH: Henry Kissinger was on Greta\u2019s show last night. Dr. Kissinger is ill at ease over the Iran deal. He said (imitating Kissinger), “The negotiations started 12 years ago to deprive Iran of enrichment capability. That was given up quite a while ago. I am very uneasy. Where else in the world could they former, you know what, become secretary of state.” <\/p>\n

Anyway, Marie Harf heard this, and she went out there (imitating Harf), “You know, Dr. Kissinger, is he a doctor? Okay. Kissinger, he\u2019s full of big words, and full of big ideas, but he doesn\u2019t know anything.” Snerdley and I were talking about this earlier. Marie Harf, Snerdley\u2019s saying, “You know, she\u2019s a laughingstock coast to coast.” <\/p>\n

I said, “To who? Maybe to us. Not to them. You think she\u2019s a laughingstock to the Yahoo News crowd? They love her. She\u2019s the Julia in the Obama campaign ad of 2008 or whenever it was. They love her.” <\/line><\/p>\n

She is the ideal result of an Ivy League education training you for government service. They love Marie Harf. She can go out there and say that the president of his mixed up and survive it. (imitating Harf) “He didn\u2019t know what he was talking about. He wasn\u2019t clear. He kind of muddled it up out there. He got his words mixed.” She said that, 30-some-odd years old in the State Department, and she\u2019s still around today, and she\u2019s still saying that. <\/p>\n

Snerdley says, “They\u2019ve gotta be embarrassed.”<\/p>\n

No, they love her. The fact that she\u2019s still there and still prominent, they love her. She\u2019s the cookie-cutter mold for what an Ivy League education ought to mean. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Dr. Henry Kissinger and George P. Schultz, two former secretaries of state. They had a joint op-ed that was published in which they expressed alarm and dismay over all of this. They just simply can\u2019t conceive of what\u2019s happening here, and Dr. Kissinger appeared last night On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, who said, “Are you optimistic about this, Dr. Kissinger? Do you think this is a good start? Are we going in the right direction or are you pessimistic about it?”<\/p>\n

KISSINGER: The negotiation started 12 years ago to deprive Iran of enrichment capability. That was given up quite a while ago, and once Iran was granted enrichment capability, then it became a very nearly impossible task to keep them from having nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (impression) “So, you see, the negotiations started 12 years ago to deprive Iran of enrichment capability, and they did it anyway. We gave up on this while ago, and once Iran was granted enrichment capability, then… Well, it became impossible. And once again, a mockery is made of foreign policy.” So she asked him again: Are you upset about this? Are you pessimistic? What\u2019s the deal? How you feel about it?<\/p>\n

KISSINGER: I\u2019m very uneasy. There are issues of verification, and there are issues of strategic relationships in the region and that it will be very difficult. We must prevent the nuclear weapons spread all over the Middle East and have all the conflicts that we now see in the Middle East, include the danger of having a nuclear weapon used in those conflicts and then seep out into the rest of the world and become weapon used even against us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, exactly. I\u2019d be uneasy, too. Issues of verification, issues of strategic relationships in the region. It\u2019d be very difficult. But this is it, in a nutshell: We have to prevent the nuclear weapons spread all over the Middle East, and have all the conflicts that we now see in the Middle East include the danger of a nuclear weapon being used in them. And that\u2019s exactly right! And this is what this administration doesn\u2019t seem to have any concern about. <\/p>\n

You know, I talked to some leftists out there and they say, “So what, Rush? You know, it\u2019s about time we backed out of this.” You\u2019ve heard this drill. “It\u2019s about time we backed out of this anyway. Who are we? You know, get out of there and let them fight. If these people want to wipe each other out, let \u2019em do it. Let \u2019em have it.” Yeah, but (Kissinger impression), “Give any of these players over there a nuclear weapon, and then of course the world becomes weaponized against us. That\u2019s not acceptable.”<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t matter to Obama. <\/p>\n

So back to the State Department here, folks. <\/p>\n

As Marie Harf was still conducting her daily press briefing, an unidentified reporter raised his hand and was called on. <\/p>\n

His question (Kissinger impression): “Dr. Kissinger and George Schultz published a piece in the Wall Street Journal today tat raised a lot of questions about the Iran nuclear deal. These are huge diplomatic statesmen types. These are great men as compared to you, who are a virtual nobody. Do you have any reaction to what these two great men — foreign policy specialists, giants in the world of foreign policy — said? Do you have any reaction to what they said? Do you think that Dr. Kissinger was fair?<\/p>\n

HARF: I didn\u2019t hear a lot of alternatives. I heard a lot of sort of big words and big thoughts in that piece, and those are certainly… There\u2019s a place for that. But I didn\u2019t hear a lot of alternatives about, uh, what they would do differently.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, you did! They said, “Don\u2019t let \u2019em have a nuclear weapon!” <\/p>\n

Sorry to yell here, folks, but Kissinger was very clear! (Kissinger impression) “They shouldn\u2019t have a nuclear weapon in that region! Nobody over there should have a nuclear weapon besides our friends in Israel. No one! If you give them a nuclear weapon, the region could blow up and include us.” It\u2019s very simple what he said. (Harf impression) “Well, all I heard was a bunch of big words and…” He didn\u2019t use any big words.
