RUSH: The pope, ladies and gentlemen, the pope has thrown one of the biggest curveballs at the American left I can remember. If I\u2019m understanding this right, if I\u2019m reading this right, and there\u2019s only one place that I have found this. It\u2019s in the National Journal. And here\u2019s the headline. I\u2019m just setting the table for you. I\u2019m not gonna get into depth in this yet, but I just want you to know that it\u2019s coming. Here\u2019s the headline: “Pope Francis: Climate Change and Abortion are ‘Interrelated.'”<\/a><\/p>\n

So what has happened here over the past couple of days, this week there have been leaks upon leaks that there\u2019s a papal encyclical coming where the pope is gonna double down on climate change. He\u2019s going to agree with the concept that man is destroying the planet and he\u2019s going to agree with the concept that governments need to get bigger and start taxing people and that people need to give more than what they\u2019re even taxed. They need to donate until they themselves are poor in order to save the planet. <\/line><\/p>\n

And the left has just been salivating, “Oh, my!” Understand now, the left is culturally predisposed to fearing the Catholic Church, and any religion. That\u2019s why they don\u2019t like it, and in some cases they hate it. But it\u2019s really rooted in fear. Religion, the Catholic Church, stands for things that the left wants to obliterate. So when the pope comes along and appears to agree with the left, say on economic matters, they get all hopeful, and they get jazzed, and they get all excited, and that\u2019s what\u2019s been going on this week.<\/p>\n

And then today — hee-hee-hee-hee — the pope says, I\u2019ll tell you what this means, he\u2019s essentially saying, “Look, you cannot have an attitude that says we must do everything to save the planet and be pro-choice at the same time. If you\u2019re gonna be an environmentalist wacko, if you\u2019re gonna devote yourself to saving the planet via climate change, you had better stop killing embryos.” Whoa! You\u2019ve got Pelosi up until this, you got Pelosi, all the Democrats out there singing the praises of Il Papa and then he throws this at them. It makes me wonder, it makes me curious about the — (laughing) — this is gonna turn \u2019em upside down and into knots, and it will be reported. It just hasn\u2019t been yet. Just in the National Journal. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Grab audio sound bite number 10. This is exactly what I was talking about. This is this morning in Washington on Capitol Hill. It\u2019s Nancy Pelosi. She did her weekly press briefing and, among other things, said…<\/p>\n

<\/a>PELOSI: (whispering) Pope Francis writes with beauty, with clarity, and with moral force. Eh, this encyclical stands as an urgent call for government to industry and the whole community to honor the responsibility to preserve God\u2019s creation.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh-oh!<\/p>\n

PELOSI: This planet is God\u2019s creation and we have a moral responsibility —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh-oh!<\/p>\n

PELOSI: — to preserve it. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh-oh!<\/p>\n

PELOSI: And as we do so, we have to recognize the impact of climate change on the poor, and we have to further recognize the impact of solutions, uh, to reversing climate — climate crisis solutions and their impact on the poor.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She just stepped in it. She just stepped in it big time, and she not even aware of it yet. That\u2019s the beauty of this. The pope has thrown her a curveball. If you\u2019re gonna say, “Well, the planet is God\u2019s creation, and we have a moral responsibility to preserve it,” so is a human being. You know what Pelosi has just done? She just told the evolutionists to go take a walk. “The planet is God\u2019s creation.” What does that mean?<\/p>\n

Everything on the planet is God\u2019s creation. <\/p>\n

That means human beings are God\u2019s creation. <\/p>\n

Nancy Pelosi reserves for herself and her friends the right to willy-nilly end the life of a God-created human being in the womb. And she argues for that right and protests for that right and demands that right. But when it comes to “destroying the planet,” you better not take one step in that direction. The pope has just said, “We must preserve God\u2019s creation,” quote, Nancy Pelosi: Except where you find it in the womb, apparently. <\/line><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s now turn to Pope Francis. National Journal: “Pope Francis: Climate Change and Abortion are Interrelated — Key takeaways from the Vatican\u2019s encyclical on climate. Pope Francis has unveiled an encyclical — a rare and influential Vatican statement — on climate change and the environment. The highly anticipated document says that global warming is real, is caused partly by human activity, and is a grave threat to humanity.<\/p>\n

“The Vatican hopes it will pave the way for a strong international climate deal later this year when diplomats descend on Paris for United Nations talks. But Pope Francis wants the encyclical to be read by everyone — and the Vatican hopes that the document will influence much more than just the Paris talks. For Pope Francis…” Look at me, folks. Look at me. “For Pope Francis, caring about the environment goes hand in hand with taking a strong stand against abortion.<\/p>\n

“‘Since everything is interrelated, concern for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the justification of abortion,\u2019 the encyclical says. ‘How can we genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however troublesome or inconvenient they may be, if we fail to protect a human embryo, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties?'” (Gasp!) Il Papa goes on to say that “population control is not the answer” to climate change. Fewer people is not the answer. <\/p>\n

Abortion is not permitted. <\/p>\n

Pelosi\u2019s just stepped in it. Now what\u2019s she gonna do? If this doesn\u2019t get beyond the National Journal, she\u2019s never even gonna have to comment on it. That\u2019s the only place we\u2019ve seen this so far. But it\u2019s there in the encyclical. So the pope is basically saying to you environmentalist wackos, “How in the world can you go batty like you do over saving this plant or that block of ice, and not have the same concern for a human embryo? It doesn\u2019t make any sense. It\u2019s incongruous.”<\/p>\n

Oh! This has the potential… Because, I mean, he set \u2019em up. I have to admit, he set \u2019em up. He had the left going. He had the left happy. “Oh, my God, we finally got a pope on our side! Ho-ho-ho!” They were so happy; they were giddy. And then after they\u2019ve committed themselves to supporting the pope and the encyclical, here it comes! And something nobody leaked is the pope equating the preservation of the planet and nature with the preservation of human beings in the womb.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I referenced this sound bite earlier in the program and I want to play it for you now. It\u2019s John Heilemann. He\u2019s the cohost with Mark Halperin on a TV show on the Bloomberg network called With All Due Respect. They\u2019re all excited about the Pope Francis encyclical where the pope basically signs onto the Democrat Party view of climate change. Now, they didn\u2019t know when they were having their little orgasm over this, that the pope has also tied climate change to abortion. Hee-hee-hee-hee. <\/p>\n

You have not heard this? I mentioned it in the first part of the program. Let me read this to you. “For Pope Francis…” It\u2019s only one place right now, National Journal. It has not appeared in the media anywhere else yet. “For Pope Francis, caring about the environment goes hand in hand with taking a strong stand against abortion. [Gasp!] ‘Since everything is interrelated, concern for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the justification of abortion,\u2019 the encyclical says. <\/p>\n

All these environmentalists wackos are out there celebrating, giving high fives \u2019cause the pope has joined \u2019em, and then he basically said, “You cannot be an environmentalist wacko and be pro-choice at the same time.<\/p>\n

“If you\u2019re gonna care about God\u2019s creation — the planet. If you\u2019re gonna care about every plant and every animal, every climate, how can you not care about every baby in the womb?” (Gasp!) Wait \u2019til they find out! Wait \u2019til they hear this! This is pope-a-dope! This is a pope-a-dope move. This is absolutely brilliant. I have to applaud the Vatican on this, \u2019cause they\u2019re all just celebrating.<\/p>\n

Most of them still don\u2019t know that to fully embrace the pope, they\u2019re going to have to also agree with him and become anti-abortion, which they won\u2019t do. ‘Cause they don\u2019t accept the idea of God created earth. They reject that. So here\u2019s Heilemann on this Bloomberg show last night, all hot to trot over the papal encyclical on climate change, and Halperin asks him, “For all the Republican candidates out there, how big a risk is it for them to say to the pope, who is popular, ‘Stay out of politics\u2019?”<\/line><\/p>\n

HEILEMANN: It\u2019s insane to take on Pope Francis — not just because they might not get into heaven if there is such a thing — but because he\u2019s super popular and also because he\u2019s right. The planet is getting hotter. And you can be in denial if you want. But it\u2019s gonna be very hard I think for someone to become the president of the United States in 2016 who is a climate denier. It\u2019s not in line with science and it\u2019s not in line with where the growing segments of the electorate are.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wrong, and wrong. There is not a consensus of independent science. The consensus of scientists is bought and paid for. The American people do not, by a majority, sign on to the whole notion of man-made climate change. Most of them rank it down at the bottom when asked, “What issues are important to you?” The earth is not warming. We\u2019re in the midst of a 10-year cooling cycle. But how about the statement? <\/p>\n

I mean, you not gonna be elected president if you\u2019re a climate denier? Meaning, you\u2019re not gonna be elected president unless you become a socialist. Unless you embrace the UN, you don\u2019t have a prayer of being elected president. Now, again, these guys don\u2019t know… This was last night. They do not know that the pope tied abortion to this. <\/p>\n

The minute they find out, the pope is not gonna become their buddy. The pope is not gonna remain their buddy. The pope is once again gonna become an extremist, and they\u2019re gonna have to bifurcate this. They\u2019re gonna have to say, “The pope\u2019s right over here but he should stay out of politics when it comes to abortion,” or some such thing. You watch.
