RUSH: Here\u2019s Gilbert in Phoenix. Gilbert, great to have you on the program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, thanks for having me on. I\u2019m really excited to be on your show. It\u2019s a shame you\u2019ll never be able to experience the excitement that I have to be able to talk to you. But I wanted to talk… This morning, all day long on the radio and TV they\u2019re talking about this woman on the $10 bill, and they always end the story —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait, wait, wait. Is it the $10 bill or the 20?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now I\u2019m confused. It\u2019s the $10 bill?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s the $10 bill because of Hamilton. They keep bringing up Hamilton.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And to make a long story short, they always end saying it\u2019s gonna happen in 2020, and I thought… Donald Trump doesn\u2019t need my help, but Donald Trump should say if he comes into office come January, come the springtime or the summer, that bill will already be in circulation. He\u2019s going to show that he… Why does everything take five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 years with the government?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, that\u2019s a… Well, in the case of Obamacare, I\u2019ll tell you why it took so long to roll it out. It\u2019s \u2019cause they had to make sure that the really bad aspects of it did not happen until after 2012 when Obama had run for presidential election the last time. I\u2019m not just saying that. That\u2019s the actual truth. They kept offering waivers, they kept delaying the most punitive aspects of Obamacare until after the next election, and they kept doing it. That\u2019s why it\u2019s only now, even though it was passed in 2010 or \u201911, it\u2019s not even fully implemented, it\u2019s just now, every aspect of it. But you raise a good point. The bureaucracy is so big, why does it take — what now? — five years to change the $10 bill? So your point is Trump could say he could get it done in six months.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Do you remember that guy, Nigel Farage, in England? He said, “Who talks this way? Who talks this way?” And that\u2019s the thing with Donald Trump, is he speaks English. He speaks in a language that people understand.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And that\u2019s why he\u2019s so popular, and that\u2019s why he\u2019s resonating.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. A lot of people… I know. He resonates with a lot of people because he says things in ways that a lot of people think them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Kind of like you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (chuckles) Yeah, you\u2019re right. It is a pleasure I\u2019ll never have, speaking to me. And I\u2019m glad you pointed that out. He says he\u2019s enjoying something I\u2019ll never get to do, that\u2019s talk to me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s very, very shrewd of you to observe. Do you use Uber by any chance?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, no, no, no, no, no.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean, “Oh, no, no, no, no”?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, no. I don\u2019t do that stuff. Yeah. I have my own car.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I got my own car. I got my first car when I was 16, a \u201963 Thunderbird.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you consume adult beverages?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Well, Dean Martin says, “I feel sorry for those that don\u2019t drink because when they wake up in the morning, that\u2019s the best they\u2019re gonna feel all day.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: So yeah. (laughing) Of course I drink adult beverages.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I tell you, you\u2019re a card out there, Gilbert.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know what? When I got on the phone it was 103; now it\u2019s 106. The temperature\u2019s rising here! In the shade!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Phoenix, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m from Yuma. I\u2019m from Yuma, Arizona.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I just read… Speaking of that, I just read Michelle Obama somewhere on a four-day shopping spree, I think Europe. Obama is going on a four-day fundraising trip to California, and when he finishes that he\u2019s gonna go to Palm Springs and play golf. Now, there\u2019s nobody there except the people that can\u2019t afford to leave. Palm Springs in the summertime? Nobody\u2019s in Palm Springs playing golf in the summertime. <\/p>\n

Just like there\u2019s nobody in Phoenix or Scottsdale playing golf unless they go out there before the sun comes up. Go out there and get, you know, maybe 18 holes in before nine a.m. Now, in the desert you can do that. I actually think places like where we live here in the summer time, Florida or even in the Midwest, people go out and say, “Yeah, you gotta go out early in the morning, because the rest of the day it\u2019s just sweltering.” <\/p>\n

Wrongo, pal. <\/p>\n

I would much rather go play golf in the summer at noon or one o\u2019clock. The humidity is in half! The humidity at seven, eight, nine o\u2019clock in the morning is 78, 80%. It\u2019s down to 50% by noon. The humidity is what makes it insufferable out there. But in Arizona there isn\u2019t any, any time of day, and the same thing with Palm Springs. That\u2019s why they say, “It\u2019s a dry heat,” but it\u2019s still hot as hell. It\u2019s not a mitigating factor. I mean, 111 degrees is 111 degrees. There\u2019s no way you can make that sound cool. (laughing) Anyway… All right, appreciate the call, Gilbert. I really do. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here is James in Pine Lake, Georgia, as we head back to the phones. Great to have you. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, how you doing? You.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m doing great, sir, thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen, I think that Trump has got a very good chance of getting elected president of the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do indeed because I think that low-information voters, the same people that put Obama into office, he\u2019s got name recognition with them that, they never heard of Ted Cruz or, you know, any of the others, but they\u2019ve heard of Trump. They watch him on The Apprentice, and he\u2019s saying stuff that they want to hear. They don\u2019t know about all the weird proposals he\u2019s made over the past, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute, like what kind of weird proposals?<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Confiscating people\u2019s wealth to pay off of the national debt.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, no, no, no. Not quite. He proposed a one-time as you are tax of 14.25%, just a one-time deal.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just a one-time deal. That\u2019s right. (laughing).<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but that\u2019s not… The Democrats confiscate people\u2019s wealth. That\u2019s not what Trump proposed.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Trump, yeah, right. Okay. I\u2019m just saying that people that don\u2019t identify as Republican or Democrats are gonna… They know who he is, and he\u2019s saying things they want to hear. And like I say, they don\u2019t know about all the weirdness that he\u2019s proposed in the past.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Some of what you say stands to reason. I mean, you\u2019re talking about low-information people, and they do watch and like The Apprentice.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they associate, “You\u2019re fired!”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And they associate a no-nonsense guy. Look, I tell you what: Where Trump goes, crowds follow. I mean, he does seminars on business at business schools. In public, he does draw crowds. There\u2019s no question that he does. Paid crowds.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He\u2019s got a lot of name recognition. And, you know, I think that he stands a good chance. I mean, look, how shocked were you that Obama got reelected? ‘Cause I was floored.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a great question, actually, and I was shocked until I saw the exit poll data and I knew it was over. But I\u2019m like everybody else — and this is a major mistake that a lot of us made. I really did believe the polls were wrong. I really thought the vast majority of people in this country were informed and I thought the opposition to Obamacare alone would be enough to defeat Obama. I was looking at the 2010 midterm turnout and I discounted the polls because I figured they were discounting people. But that presidential turnout, the people that voted for Obama were people that don\u2019t even know the details of Obamacare. That\u2019s your point, really.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Right low-information voters don\u2019t vote in the midterms.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So, you know, we got Congress, we got the Senate, but we lost the White House again. And again, you know, big turnout of people that —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, here\u2019s another thing. Here\u2019s another thing. You know, the House Republicans are working overtime to help Obama pass this Transpacific Partnership Trade Deal, and it is a sellout of Republican voters. This is actually one of the most amazing things. The Democrats have worked very hard to defeat this. And I know a lot of people who have said to me, “Rush, do you realize the debt of gratitude we owe the Democrat Party for saving this country\u2019s sovereignty, because they stopped this trade deal?” Friends of mine believe that it was the Democrats who saved the day on this thing by defeating it. Now, here you have the Republicans working overtime to help Obama pass this thing. Now, let me ask a question, James. Do you wonder why that\u2019s the case?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think that the Republican Party, the Republican establishment has sold out their base, and I\u2019ll tell you right now —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, why but to who? To whom have they sold out?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019re only in it for the money and the power now. They\u2019re not… They don\u2019t represent us anymore.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know a lot of people think that, but I\u2019ve got a specific answer to this. The Chamber of Commerce is running the Republican Party right now. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Chamber of Commerce has been stealthfully taken care of by a bunch of liberals. The Chamber of Commerce is why the Republicans are pro-amnesty and pro-open borders.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Why do we want open borders? It\u2019s so that we can exploit them. The left wants to exploit immigration politically and the right wants to exploit them economically. You know, they want a permanent — well, you said it before. They want a permanent underclass.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yep.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So, cheap labor Democrats. I really don\u2019t think that… I voted Republican all my life, and I\u2019ll tell you right now, if somebody like Jeb Bush gets the nomination, I am not voting for that guy. I voted for his dad. I voted for his brother. Not again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What about Trump? I mean, let\u2019s say you\u2019re right about Trump.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, my God, no! Hell, no. I wouldn\u2019t vote for Trump.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, wait a minute. Trump probably is not gonna go along with this immigration stuff that you just described you don\u2019t like.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You wouldn\u2019t vote for Trump. Okay. Ted Cruz?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I like Cruz.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Scott Walker?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I like Walker, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Marco Rubio?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rubio? Rubio got burned on the border. I liked Rubio. But, again, you know, open-border Republicans? Big-government, open-border Republicans? No, thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Carly Fiorina?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know that much about her. She\u2019s the one that ran against Jerry Brown in California. Is that right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but she\u2019s a different person now. Since she has broken away from the McCain-Romney cabal, Carly Fiorina is sounding as conservative as anybody in the race is.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And she\u2019s doing something nobody else in the party is doing — well, very few are doing — and she\u2019s going for Hillary\u2019s throat.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How about…? <\/p>\n

CALLER: I haven\u2019t been paying that much attention to her.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, start. You\u2019ll be pleased. How about Lindsey Grahamnesty?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Hell, no.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He\u2019s a big-government, open-border Republican.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Rick Perry?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I like him. Like him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so you got —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Highly successful in Texas.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How about Dr. Ben Carson?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Again, I don\u2019t… I haven\u2019t paid a lot of attention to Carson. I understand he is a fantastic human being, and if he got the nomination I would vote for him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so there\u2019s five or six here that —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — you would have no problem supporting?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But if it\u2019s Trump, if it\u2019s Jeb, you\u2019re out of there?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019ll vote third party or just sit it out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, not third party.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We have another… I\u2019m in Georgia. If we have another primary where I have to vote for Mike Freaking Huckabee in order to prevent the worse option from getting in, then I\u2019m just not gonna do it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, boy, do I hear you on that. You are right on the money on that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I appreciate that, Rush. I\u2019ve been listening to you for 24 years.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s why you\u2019re right on the money.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve grown old listening to you. (chuckles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad that you\u2019re out there, James. I know what you mean. “If I have to vote for Mike Freaking Huckaberry in order to keep somebody…” Yeah, I… Yeah. Well, at least there\u2019s hope for you, because you\u2019ve got four or five here that could inspire you.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: White Plains, New York. Hey, Rich, great to have you, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Mega golf lovers dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir, very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s pretty obvious that the Republican pundits don\u2019t like Trump, but I\u2019ve never seen such a display of animus as I saw yesterday by Dana Perino on that show The Five. She was using Eric Bolling as her whipping boy when Bolling was not even making a full-throated endorsement of Trump, just trying to bring out some of the positives, and she went bonkers. I mean, it was ugly, Rush. I\u2019ve never seen anything like it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? Dana Perino?<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Oh, it was shocking, Rush. It was — (laughing) — you gotta go back and watch it. She was out of her mind. She went so far as to accuse Bolling of sucking up to Donald because he wanted to be on The Apprentice. She actually said that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hmm. Now, it doesn\u2019t surprise me that Dana Perino would have that attitude about Trump, but on that show — and I haven\u2019t seen it in a while — but everybody on that show has a character, a persona. Her persona is of the wise schoolteacher or schoolmarm watching in amused amazement at all the others as they say incendiary things, but she tries to come off as the reasonable, almost moderator —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure. She\u2019s the kumbaya person. And there was no kumbaya in her yesterday.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, she\u2019s in the Bush camp, and that has got to be a factor in this. But she was not the only one. I read you that piece from National Review yesterday that, I mean, I\u2019ve never read anything like that about a Democrat. It insulted Trump\u2019s wife and insulted his kids, it insulted Trump, it insulted his hair. The fact he announced going down an escalator, if that wasn\u2019t symbolic of his whole campaign. It was brutal. It was also funny. Did you interpret this as dissension in the ranks on The Five, or something else? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, absolutely. It was a complete departure of protocol for her. I just read a couple of — I got on a website, and a lot of people feel exactly the same way, that she needs to take a time-out. She needs to go wherever what\u2019s-his-name went for a while because she was that out of line.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bob Beckel?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, she needs to go wherever Bob Beckel went for a little while. Somebody described her as needing a time-out. I mean, it was really completely out of character for her, and I think it was a Freudian slip that shows exactly what she is. She\u2019s a RINO, you know, through and through. She\u2019s no real conservative.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, a lot of people think that. Republican establishment, I mean, clearly her loyalties start understandably with the Bush political apparatus, and that would mean Jeb in this environment. But I tell you, I know what you\u2019re talking about, but here\u2019s the thing. While you may have a couple people you found on social media who think, oh, wow, Dana went overboard, most people are gonna say man, that was great television, especially if it broke the mold, especially if it was out of character. <\/p>\n

Look at you. It happened yesterday. You\u2019re still, 23 hours later, calling here to talk about it. And so the people in charge over there, “Wow, that was great TV!” I tell you what, you\u2019ll find out, if today there is some reference to it, and if she says: “You know, Eric and I are buds and it just got a little headed yesterday, but we love each other, right, Eric?” And if Eric, “Oh, yeah, no problem,” then you\u2019ll know that there was something to it that might have been upset. If they don\u2019t address it today, then there\u2019s no sweat. <\/p>\n

You just watch. You gotta learn how to watch this stuff, in addition to just being an impassioned viewer, or even a dispassionate viewer, there\u2019s a way to watch this stuff to understand what about it is real and what isn\u2019t.
