RUSH: Folks, do you realize the Confederate flag flies because of the Democrat Party? Do people even care anymore about truth, objective truth, ontological certitude?<\/p>\n

Do people care about this stuff anymore? Does it matter? Or is truth something so elusive that it\u2019s impossible to achieve because everybody has a bias and somebody\u2019s truth is somebody else\u2019s lie? And if a truth is a lie to somebody then it can\u2019t be the truth? Is this where we are now, facts are irrelevant? The Confederate flag in South Carolina… There\u2019s a man. There\u2019s a name. There\u2019s a reason why that Confederate flag flies over the Statehouse in South Carolina.<\/p>\n

You know the name, don\u2019t you, Mr. Snerdley? (interruption) Yeah, his name was Ernest “Fritz” Hollings, of (impression), “There\u2019s too much consumin\u2019 goin\u2019 on out there!”<\/a> Ernest “Fritz” Hollings, well-known Democrat — senator from South Carolina — is responsible for the Confederate flag flying over South Carolina! When did this become a Republican problem? Who wrote the lyrics to the song Dixie?<\/line><\/p>\n

When did all this become a Republican problem? If you go to Arkansas… You know, all these old racial segregationists, they\u2019re all Democrats. Bill Clinton\u2019s mentor from Arkansas, J. William Fulbright, was a proud segregationist! And Bill Clinton signed a proclamation authorizing the Confederate flag to fly over the statehouse in Arkansas. I\u2019ve got the proclamation right there in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.<\/p>\n

Where\u2019d the Republicans get involved in this? But there they are, in full blame!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have to make a minor correction — and unlike most, when we make a correction, we make it prominently. I\u2019m not going to say something today that\u2019s erroneous and wait until Friday at 2:55 in the afternoon to fix it. So here we go: The Confederate flag does not fly over the South Carolina state capitol. Only the United States flag and the state flag actually fly over the capitol.<\/line>The flag in question, the Confederate flag, flies separately on the state capitol grounds, and the controversy is whether it should be on the grounds of the state capitol at all. It does not fly over the actual capitol anymore. It once did. The point is not changed, here. Ernest Hollings, a Democrat, put the Confederate flag up! The old Dixiecrats were Democrats! <\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: This Confederate flag business, Hillary Clinton\u2019s now come out and she\u2019s demanding that the Confederate flag be removed in South Carolina, and really is a key point. It does not fly over the statehouse. It used to, resulting from the commandment, if you will, from Senator Ernest Fritz Hollings, Democrat Senator, South Carolina. He used to be the governor, he put it up.<\/p>\n

It was a Republican, ladies and gentlemen, a conservative Republican governor who first tried to get the Confederate flag removed from atop the statehouse. And, by the way, that conservative Republican governor got no support from the local NAALCP. In fact, when that all happened, the Democrats used the flag against the Republican governor, and it may have cost him the election. That was not that long ago.<\/p>\n

Now Hillary Clinton has come out and demanded the flag be removed. Never mind that while the Clintons were in Arkansas they presided over something called the annual celebration of Confederate Flag Day, which continues to this day. Oh, yeah. It does. Confederate Flag Day continues to this day in Arkansas, and when the Clintons lived there, they presided over the annual celebration.<\/p>\n

Not only that, Governor Bill Clinton, 1987, signed into law an act that commemorated the Confederacy with a blue star in the Arkansas state flag. I know I\u2019m spitting against the wind here. I know none of this is gonna matter an iota to anybody. But I have such reverence for you people in this audience, I have such respect that I want you to know the truth of these things. And this wave, this never ending wave of literal destruction that is just sweeping across our country is relentless. And whatever I can do to have those of you know the truth about this and the blatant hypocrisy, because the Democrats are never held to account for hypocrisy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, some AP photographer released a photo. Ted Cruz making a speech somewhere, and the photographer probably waited and waited and waited \u2019til Cruz was in the right position. Cruz is positioned in such a way that a poster to his left on a wall to his left features a gun nearly as large as his head aimed right between his eyes. And that\u2019s the picture, Cruz\u2019s head, the left half of the picture there\u2019s a gun aiming right at his head.<\/line><\/p>\n

And there\u2019s a caption, “Ted Cruz Addressing Second Amendment Advocates,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It\u2019s clear that the photograph — do you remember how ape everybody went after Gabrielle Giffords was shot and somebody found some sort of a view-finder target on Sarah Palin\u2019s website, and they tried to blame that? I mean, can you imagine if Barack Obama were in this picture instead of Ted Cruz? The media would be featuring it all over the place. Now they\u2019re just calling it ironic. You know, it\u2019s just ironic that Cruz happened to be standing right there when the AP guy snapped his shutter and took the photo.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: James Clyburn, the former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucasians, was on Meet the Press on Sunday. Did you hear what Chuck Todd said? He was very proud of the way NBC handled the Brian Williams circumstance, made him proud to be a peacocker. Well, it\u2019s their icon. He didn\u2019t say that, but that\u2019s what he meant. Proud NBC employee, proud peacocker, the way they handled the Brian Williams situation.<\/p>\n

Anyway, Chuck Todd\u2019s interviewing James Clyburn. He said, “Congressman, you\u2019re from a generation that was in the middle of the civil rights movement, you saw the pain, the protests of the sixties, some of these attacks took place in the sixties. Did you think this was at all possible that something like this,” meaning the massacre in the church, “did you think this could happen in the twenty-first century?”<\/p>\n

CLYBURN: Unfortunately, Chuck, I did. I have been saying for some time now that my friends in the Congressional Black Caucus will tell you, I\u2019ve been saying to them that there\u2019s this rightward drift in the country that I think is going too far. And people get emboldened by all of this.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What rightward drift? I mean, even the Washington Post today with Dana Milbank is celebrating the leftward drift. What rightward drift? If there were a rightward drift — there isn\u2019t a rightward drift! Not in the way he means it. Well, you know what he means? Fox News. He\u2019s talking about Fox News. The rightward drift simply means the one news network that\u2019s not like all the others. So Chuck Todd tried to get another question in but didn\u2019t. Clyburn just kept talking.<\/p>\n

CLYBURN: We hear all this discussion about the Confederate battle flag, and what is so interesting about that, Chuck, is that that is not the Confederate flag. That\u2019s a battle flag that flies in front of the statehouse. That is a flag of rebellion. We would not be having this discussion if that were the Confederate flag, or the flag of the Confederate states of America, because that flag is now a symbol of hate. So when you see the resurrection of this, a young man 21 years old wearing all these apartheid things on his shirt, burning the United States flag and glorifying the elongated version of the battle flag, certainly you\u2019re creating a climate that allowed this kind of thing to happen.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who is? Who is creating the climate for some kid to run around with the flags of apartheid on his shirt? Who is creating that climate? I\u2019m not asking this rhetorically. I mean seriously. Who\u2019s creating that climate? If that climate even exists, who\u2019s creating it? I gotta take a break. Nobody seems to want to answer that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
