CALLER: Thank you for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, I\u2019ve been listening to your radio show for over 20 years. It\u2019s been fun listening to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you, sir, very much. I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Before I do, I just have a little request… It\u2019s before you let me go I have a little request to ask you and a suggestion based on that request. Okay. Now, it\u2019s a little old now from what my topic is. But originally… Just to make note, I\u2019m originally from New England. And I\u2019ve done genealogical research — I\u2019m leading you up to what I\u2019m going to talk about — and I find out that I\u2019m related to Alonzo Cushing, the one that was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Obama last year.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I found out… A different line of Cushings. But I found out that one of the Cushings — one of my ancestors — married a Lincoln of a different branch, not of Abraham Lincoln\u2019s, but they\u2019re both related. So I\u2019m definitely related to Abraham Lincoln as well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you\u2019ve got generational roots to the Civil War. That\u2019s where we\u2019re going here.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I have an ancestor also involved in the Civil War directly as well. Now, the premise of my call is that, of course, I have relatives and ancestry that fought for the Union, that fought against the slave states.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. And we know that the slave states seceded from the Union, basically they wanted to maintain slavery. They didn\u2019t like Lincoln, my relative (chuckles) that wanted to make all states free states. So that\u2019s why they rebelled.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm?<\/p>\n

RUSH: They wanted to be left alone to run their states the way they wanted to and in order to do that they were going to secede and Lincoln said, “We can\u2019t preserve the nation, then. We will not have a nation by allowing the secession.” So we went to war. Southerners called it the “War of Northern Aggression.” The South was not trying to spread slavery around the world. They wanted to just maintain it themselves. Southerners will say that wasn\u2019t even the reason they went to war. Lincoln said it was in large part, but there were a lot of factors. But, anyway, I\u2019m sadly out of time. Oh my gosh, I\u2019ve got to take a break. Imagine that. Gee!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was talking to a prominent Republican last night about the Supreme Court decision yesterday.<\/p>\n

He said, “Yeah, you know, Rush, elections have consequences.”<\/p>\n

I said, “What does that mean?”<\/p>\n

“Well, the American people spoke. They get what they voted for.”<\/p>\n

“You mean you\u2019re not going to push back on it?”<\/p>\n

“Well, no.”<\/p>\n
