He wants to ban smoking inside rental homes.  I have been predicting, for I don\u2019t know how long, that this is where all of this anti-smoking frenzy is headed, that you aren\u2019t gonna be able to smoke in your own home ultimately.  Somebody that lives three doors down from you is gonna complain they can smell it.  They\u2019re gonna explain to the city council or whatever, and you\u2019re gonna get shut down.  In fact, I had just such a call when I made just such a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/?p=26559\">prediction five years ago in August of 2007<\/a>, and this guy just did not believe me.<\/p>\n<p>BEGIN ARCHIVE CLIP<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: There\u2019s no law against smoking in your own house.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, they\u2019ve tried to do in a couple of counties in Maryland, and it\u2019s next if you let \u2019em into the car! Damn right it is. There is no question about it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/?p=26559\"><img id=\"eZObject_107597\" class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/RushCuttingEdge-smoking-police.jpg\"\/><\/a>CALLER: Only&#8230; Now we\u2019re back to my original point, that really only a paranoid right-winger would see a liberal plot in this.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (laughter)<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Some things are obviously sensible and some things are not, and no one is suggesting in any real way or has it ever come close to being a reality.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Wrong. I am suggesting it and you\u2019re blind to it. It is not &#8220;paranoia&#8221; when evidence already exists of the trend.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: It&#8230; The&#8230; You&#8230; You\u2019re not honestly, seriously suggesting that there is a trend to ban smoking within private homes.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I\u2019m telling you it\u2019s coming. It\u2019s been tried.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Okay. You\u2019re talking about one place, one person, making one complaint. I wouldn\u2019t call that a trend.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, Michael, this is how liberalism spreads. Once they start this stuff, it never goes away. Like gay marriage is going to happen in this country.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: What I\u2019m saying is&#8230; What I\u2019m saying is when you see it quote, &#8220;spreading,&#8221; end quote, that is right-wing paranoia. (snickers)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No, it\u2019s not right-wing paranoia.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: That\u2019s just the only word for it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It\u2019s stopping it. It\u2019s making sure it doesn\u2019t grow. It\u2019s making sure that these powers &#8212; these liberal ninnies, nannies and do-gooders &#8212; do not get foothold and traction in trying to tell everybody else how to live, including in their own homes. In New York, for crying out loud, you have to ban trans-fat at the grocery store as well! You are blind if you don\u2019t see what\u2019s happening here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>END ARCHIVE CLIP<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_107609\" class=\"aligncenter\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/RushCigar585.jpg\"\/><BR\/>RUSH:  It\u2019s exactly how liberalism advances.  Now the mayor of New York wants to ban smoking inside rental homes.  Now, granted those are not privately owned homes, but somebody owns them.  The renter doesn\u2019t.  But that\u2019s just the next phase.  After you get that done then you move on to the owners, the people that live in their properties not being able to smoke inside them.  There\u2019s no doubt this is the way this is going. You see, I\u2019m labeled here by this caller as a, what, right-wing paranoid?  I see a liberal plot?<\/line><\/p>\n<p>By the way, what\u2019s the old phrase, &#8220;Just because you\u2019re paranoid doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re not out to get you&#8221;?  Being paranoid does not disqualify what you\u2019re saying.  But it\u2019s not paranoia, in my case.  It\u2019s knowledge.  Did you hear him? This is five years ago.  Did you hear me tell this guy, &#8220;It\u2019s like gay marriage; it\u2019s going to happen in this country&#8221;? Five years ago.  Five years ago! I\u2019m telling you, ten years ago you would have been laughed out of a polite conversation if you had told people that gay marriage was gonna be the law of the land inside of ten years.
